iTunes Error (-50) when trying up authorize

Great Answer !!!! I had this problem after upgrading my motherboard and RealtekR1000 kext. Deleting the .plist worked for me.
  2. Success !!!!! I finally got my HDMI display working on my production system ( please see system specs in my signature ). I first tried using el_charlie's method of extracting my video rom with NiBiTor ( and XP ) and then modifying my com.apple.Boot.plist. I remove the EFI string and added the following:- <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>yes</string> <key>VideoROM</key> <string>NVIDIA.rom</string> <key>VBIOS</key> <string>yes</string> This still did not work so I tried bigfish's macpro8800gt.rom and renamed it NVIDIA.rom. ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=219232 ) Bingo, my system now boot 10.6.3 with DVI to HDMI. Big thanks to bigfish and el_charlie !!
  3. +1 I too have just upgrade to 10.6.3 and I have the same problem. When I connect to the TV via the DVI / HDMI connection the system boots to a black screen. When I connect the video out to an old CRT monitor the system boots normally. I am running a EN9800GTX+ DK/HTDI/512M Asus card in an AMD system. This setup worked 100% under 10.6.2 with EFI strings.

    Itunes crashes on Snow install

Flatline - Thankyou so much for this solution!!! I have previously tried and failed to patch the 2 locations but your 2 step approach worked. Now I only need to get my ALC888 sound working ( instead of using a USB audio device ).
  6. I have two AMD machines and both are running 10.6.2 and are having problems with itunes. When I run itunes for the first time the setup wizard runs and some of the windows have no writing on them. They only have the cancel, back and next buttons displayed. When I click on the iTunes menu bar and then click on preferences all I see is a tall gray rectangular box with the tab headings ( General / Playback / Sharing etc ). There is no writing and no settings on the general tab. If I select one of the other tabs then itunes crashes. I have tried repairing CPUIDs using Marvin's AMD utility V.25 but the program comes up with errors after patching 32 of 34 files. Could someone please give me some clues - I have had this fault since 10.6.0 - my 10.5.8 installations work beautifully.

    10.6.2 is out...

Thanks Myska for the info - I have just updated to 10.6.2 on 2 machines following these steps ( the steps come from various sources Netkas, Myska ) Use any disabler for AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, for example “ NullCPUPM.kext, install it to Extra mkext and reboot, of course if you made AppleIntelCPUPM to speedstep your cpu, you can skip this step. 1. Backup Kernel to desktop ( use "showallfiles" to allow you to see and manipulate the file. ) 2. Run update dmg DO NOT REBOOT !!! 3. Manually replace 2 video files with 10.6.1 kexts for Nvidia ( not sure if you really need this step but it allowed me to reboot and repair the kexts properly ( step 9 ) ) 4. Repair Extra folder with Kext utility 5. Restore Kernel 6. Repair disk permissions with diskutility 7. Reboot now 8. use flags -v -f -x32 9. Replace Video files again with Kext Helper 10. Repair disk permissions 11. Reboot

Power issue on boot up 10.6.2

Have you modified your dsdt file? "A dsdt.aml file is recommended which is patched to fix a bug in Snow Leopard that corrupts your" motherboard CMOS. Many guides already exist for this, such as the ones at Infinitemac (step3) or Insanelymac.

    10.6.2 is out...

I killed my AMD 10.6.1 build by using the 10.6.2 update. Restored my old kernel but still no luck. It looks like the system starts but I loose my video. Can not boot into safe mode. Netkas has an upgrade guide. I will restore my partition from an image dmg via my leopard partition and try again. http://netkas.org/?m=200911

    iPC CD won't boot

You could try a few other boot flags cpus=1 or maxmem=4096 I just had a iPC build with 8B of RAM that I couldn't get going without maxmem=4096
  11. Are you able to do a safe boot (Press F8 on start up and then -x) Could be a display problem follow these instruction exactly - including deleting the required kext. http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?boa...&thread=509
  12. I have 2 AMD machines. I have successfully set up iPC 10.5.6 on my "development" box with no issues and got the 9800GTX card fully supported using Aquamac's instructions http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?boa...&thread=509 Thanks Aqua-mac!!! Development box uses :- AMD 7750 GA-M56S-S3 4GB DDR2 Ram 9800GTX Graphics Card My "production" box is giving me hell, specs as follows AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ GA-MA770-DS3 8GB DDR2 Ram EN9800GTX+ DK/HTDI/512M Samsung 46inch TV - HDMI input The only distribution I can get to the installation stage is iPC 10.5.6 and I can only do this by booting the install in safe mode ( -x -v). The installation completes and after rebooting I get a black screen ( and sometimes brown ) with a mouse pointer that responds. I can boot successfully in safe mode but this is not usable as I need to have VMware running. From research I thought I had a display problem so I tried every possible combination of display kexts, NVinject, NVdarwin, NVkush and the EFI string method with no additional kexts. I have cleared the caches with OSX86tools and started my system with -f after each change. I have inserted the loaded HDD into my dev box and OSX started up successfully, so I loaded the latest 9000 series drivers. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=132089 - 9000 series drivers When I put the HDD back into my production system and I still get the black screen ( and sometimes a brown ) with a mouse pointer that responds on a normal boot. I have tried 2 other video cards, a 9800GTX and a 9600GT ( both of these work fully in my development system ) but I still get the black screen with a standard boot. I have tried using a using a standard Sun computer monitor. I have tried setting different resolutions via the plist file Safe boot works with the correct resolution detected (1080x1920) Edit Got things going by booting with maxmem=5120 - it seems my build does not like 8GB of RAM, more work required there. I have changed my com.apple.Boot.plist file to include:- <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>maxmem=5120<string>

    Thinking of giving up :(

I have Windows 7 on the same disk as IPC 10.5.6. What I did is install windows, imaged it, saved the image to a back up drive. I then partitioned the drive with the Mac disk utility ( set the second partion to fat32 ) , installed IPC 10.5.6 and then put the Windows 7 image on the second partition. I can choose which OS I boot to via the Darwin Boot loader by pressing the down arrow at start up. You can set the default OS by making the relevant partition active ( via a Linux Live CD )
