  1. Help With SL on Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3

I just did it today with iAtkos S3 v2. Very happy and the only thing not working is my IDE ports. You will need to find the ISO. Look at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...0&st=0& to find the torrent and burn to ISO. Boot up on the disc. After you format your drive with disk utility, do a custom install. Select your hardware drivers like graphics, network, etc. Do not install the sleepenable.kext. It will break your upgrade to 10.6.4. Once you get it up and running, do a software update to 10.6.4. As long as you did not install sleepenable.kext, you will reboot into 10.6.4. Then, add audio from the next paragraph. Remove the VooDoo kext file and also the Control Panel preference for it. I used this guide to get ALC888 audio working and installed the 2 kext files and used kext helper. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...0&st=0& I referenced this guide to. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=180954. Let me know if you get the IDE working. I had them working in 10.5 with Jmicron.kext, but have not focused too much since on them. I am about to hook up a new SATA Blu-Ray burner instead.
  2. Were you able to get this working? I have a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 that has the ALC888 and I finally got the audio to work and to recognize all ins and outs. However, with Digital (I have a Boston Acoustics speaker set with digital input), I can get no volume control from the icon or keyboard. If I switch it all to analog outputs, then I get the control, but I would rather be digital. I am on 10.6.4 with the latest AppleHDA.kext working...
  3. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

Well, I finally read enough to figure out how to get my HD UUID and MAC address entered into the smbios.plist and PlatformUUID. Seems like there should be some detailed instructions for this in the guide. This is required right? I dont recall having to edit the plist in smbios with 10.5.7. I was finally able to get booted, but without audio working. No KP now. I have re-copied the legacy audio drivers back into Extra/Extensions, but no luck. Now that I am back up and running with 10.6, I have two outstanding issues that I am just stumped on. 1) No audio - I have legacy drivers loaded from your Version 2 Kext Pack and I do see Assertions when loading. Do I need to load VooDooHDA.kext? I though this got away from that. 2) Bigger issue, no IDE drives for my DVD drives. The strange thing is, I have reloaded Snow 3 times now, and 1 out of the 3 times, the IDE worked. Maybe it was a different DSDT that I used? I am using yours now. I guess I need to figure out how to patch my own. My MoBo is a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 and there is instructions on another post on how to get IDE working and I followed it, but still no luck. Are you running the same MoBo? Do my JMicronATA.kext drivers need to be in Extra/Extensions or S/L/E? I guess I am going to quit for the night before I break things beyond repair.
  4. Snow Leopard works in GA-965P-S3

Can you give some detail about editing your smbios.plist and PlatformUUID file? I have read so many different post, it is conflicting as to what exactly goes into theses to files. Also, how did you configure your speakers if you were not yet booted into Snow Leopard? Did I miss a step above?
  5. 965P-DS4 Success with Retail 10.6 - 64 Bit

Thanks! That gives me something new to go investigate. Maybe the JMicron driver will do the trick.
  6. 965P-DS4 Success with Retail 10.6 - 64 Bit

Deckert, Can you show me exactly what you have in your Extra/Extensions folder and attach a copy of your DSDT.aml file? I have the exact same setup as you with the 8800 GTS 640Mb. Everything is working on mine except the IDE ports. I cant seem to get the VIA drivers to load. I loaded the driver's from the post from Innerz, but I kept crashing on com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController and com.apple.iokit.Apple.Yukon2. It all works on my drive with 10.5.8. I've tried using that DSDT.aml file and using the same contents of my Extra/Extensions folder, but no luck... Is your DSDT in root or the Extra folder? Thanks, Parker
  7. 965P-DS4 Success with Retail 10.6 - 64 Bit

Sorry for the double post. I hit new topic by mistake... Hi guys, Thanks for all your work here and for all the instructions I have read for the past 48 hours... I finally got my 965P DS3 board running with 10.6. I have one major issue left and that is I can't get my VIA IDE working on the MoBo. I had it working in my 10.5.8 install and I have put 10.6 on a new drive. I tried copying my old AppleVIA.Kext over from the 10.5.8 drive and that did not work. I have also downloaded AppleVIAATA.Kext and still no luck I have run the Kext Utility to fix permissions and still nothing. I see other's here have it working, could someone please point me in the right direction? I also got my audio working via the 883 driver package and am outputting SPDIF. Has anyone figured out how to keep the audio from sleeping and cutting off the 1st second of audio? Is there anyway to control the SPDIF volume with the volume control? I can only use the volume on my speakers for now and would like to use the keyboard volume keys.
