  1. Thanks st3p! I'm going to test the new plist on my machine tomorrow.
  2. Thanks iFabio, does this fix the "Mac Pro Audio Update" HDA problems after its install? Or does it prevent the update request on the whole? Have a fun vacation
  3. @dgobe and maitaijim, Thanks a lot! Everything is working like a charm! And the click-and-done Installer Package really makes the whole process so damn simple, it's almost too good to be true :censored2: Keep up the good work!
  4. Just want to confirm real quick that now wake from sleep is working fine! Thanks to PC EFI 10.3 so it seems.
  5. Hi dgobe, i just successfully installed PC EFI 10.3. Still i cannot wake from sleep. Could you post your files you have in /Extra, please? Thanks!

    Slow Hard Drive Performance ICH10

The King, thank you very much! Just returned from vacation, entered this thread right away. Patched my DSDT following your instructions – works! Both SATA drives in my machine are now running smoothly under 10.6.0. Next up: Upgrading to 10.6.1. Thanks again for your effort!

Thanks g4sho! Your board must be the Asus Rampage II GENE, which also uses the ICH10 chipset. hmm. Do you have your bios configured for AHCI mode? EDIT: Ahh sorry, you're writing of your 10.5.8 system? The SATA issues occur to me in SL only.
  8. Must be a different cause here. You really would have noticed immediately when accessing the drive that something was wrong, if you had the same issue as i do. Just reading the mere device tree structure is halting the drive. A side effect, as some other users have posted, is that whenever you access the main system drive, the bad secondary drive delivers some data. It seems to be a sign for some ICH10 chipset malfunction. Additionally strange is that under Leopard both drives can be accessed OK. Kexts possibly? DSDT? Admittedly i dont have much knowledge about the technical side of driver files yet, so maybe someone can dig into this? I would post some hardware info screenshots if needed.
  9. NOTICE: There are currently problems with SATA hard drives on the P6T Deluxe V2, except for your system drive which will work well. So if you are planning on installing only one hard drive to your system, you can go ahead with no worries. The ICH10R chipset on the P6T Deluxe V2 makes secondary drives slow down near null. At the moment the only fix for me (using two SATA HDDs) is to change the sata mode from AHCI to IDE (compatible) in BIOS. Switched to IDE mode without prior kext checking, luckily it worked. Currently i have these kexts in my /E/E folder: - AHCIPortInjector.kext - AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext - fakesmc.kext - IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext - NullCPUPowerManagement.kext - OpenHaltRestart.kext - PlatformUUID.kext - VoodooHDA.kext Suppose i could as well leave the first two ones out, but got to get some work done first, might try later. Still hoping for a legitimate AHCI fix, though. *cross fingers*

EDIT: Solved / Workaround by changing AHCI to IDE (compatible mode) in Bios. If anybody gets their hands on a true AHCI fix, please post here. Tried the latest AppleIntelPIIXATA within the IOATAFamily.kext, but the problem persists.. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88335

Unfortunately yes, so it seems. Meanwhile i'm going to put my secondary drive into a USB enclosure. Leaving me clueless . .

having the same Problem on an ASUS p6T Deluxe v2. @csharp: what does your solution look like? thx EDIT: FYI, running the same two drives of mine from within Leopard works. From SL only the system drive works OK. The second drive is either not responding at all or just very slowly. Tried IDE in Bios which did not boot up at all, tried several ATA kexts, no success so far and it's the only thing keeping me from an otherwise fully working and stable SL install.

    IOATAFamily.kext KP

(semi-OT) in SL i have problems accessing my second SATA hard drive. Opening applications like Safari within the system partly permits loading parts of the second HDD, other times it acts like "halted". ideas anyone? thx
  15. Thanks a lot wziard!! Just a few additions for my case, maybe it helps others as well. Used EFI 10.1 instead. Works like a charm and no need for exchanging the boot files etc. I removed some of your kexts. Currently everything works fine with just these: - AHCIPortInjector.kext - fakesmc.kext - IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext - NullCPUPowerManagement.kext - OpenHaltRestart.kext - PlatformUUID.kext - VoodooHDA.kext No IDE-Drives etc connected. Simply put a plain EFI-String to my com.apple.Boot.plist. Inserted a <key>device-properties</key> hex, works A-OK. No file creation needed. Thanks, finally have my sound up and working!
