My guide in the other p5qc thread works. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=200451

As far as I know Tony OSX is for P55 boards. The P5QC is a P45, so watch out.

PM me your email and i'll send you a whole pack o' goodness. I'm not sure of all the stuff, some may be against site policy... Must read up on that. I've got 100% snowy. No SPDIF audio and hdmi is buggy. Also I don't remember if ethernet works. I think most of these were left in a 'that'll do' state by me. And don't loose faith- my vanilla Hac is perfect. System update works a charm. It took me 6 months to get my first one going. If you're new to osx it'll bend your head a little at first, but when it makes sense it really makes sense. I haven't been able to work on the Hac much as i'm currently involved in developing a game on modified ID Tech 4. It's just easier to use Windows. Windows 7 Ultimate is actually very very good. Probably the best OS from Micro$oft ever.

Some things haven't been so straightforward with Snow, especially the graphics. I've got a 1gb 9800gt so I don't know if this will help but, I robbed some of my extras kexts from Snow Leopard BootCD, I think the KDtech one. The bootcd was the only bootloader that would give me full graphics. I have since combined them into a pack with kexts for my motherboard, so I couldn't begin to figure out which one it is.. But I recommend booting with BootCD for Snow Leopard and see if that works, then replace your extras kexts with the ones on the bootcd.

This board is good for Retail Snowy too! Even with the 1406 bios. That's what I run and it's really perfect. Just chameleon and some kexts in extras. I still have S3 issues but I think they've been fixed with a newer bios, based on realbaddog's experience with the 1806 bios.

10.6.2 doesn't work with 8800GT EFI Strings
noodledog replied to Bidule200's topic in OSx86 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
The extension downgrade isn't working most likely because a lot of people aren't rebuilding their cache properly. If like me you find kextcache just too longwinded, run Kext Utility by cVad once you've installed the 10.6.1 kexts (before restarting). I made this mistake first time round, and had to switch to VGA. -
Hey, Ive got this board running now. I'll pm you the guide and files for a retail install.
-
Hey, ok what i've done so far is get the retail install image to run off a usb hard drive. Works fine, but the install will only boot from the usb drive's Chameleon, not it's own. Apparently a DSDT patch is the answer based on my kp, but i'm confused as to why it would work off the usb bootloader and not it's own, given I installed them indentically to eachother. This problem is entirely my own lack of knowledge in the boot settings department I reckon. So until i've sorted that i'm not pressing forward with the remaining fixes. I have looked into it and ethernet support appears totally possible, but i'm not sure if it's giga. P5QC support for gigabit is questionable anyhow. Audio is ok, restart ok. If I remember, sleep will be fine too. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 booting fine from my 2nd disk. There's no doubt this board is 100% workable, there's just so many p5q variants it's hard to tie down exact instructions for them, especially this one for some reason. I chose carefully for my build, so I reckon it's gonna be all good. I'll be doing an in-depth and highly convoluted guide for it in the next week. Basically any machine with a p5qc and an q9550 C2Q should run Snow Leopard flawlessly with minimal work. Also looking at putting together a bios flash / additional extras bootable iso for this board. It'll all be done in the next week or so, i've gotta go out of town for a few days.

It's a start at least. There's a lot of newer ones, maybe even a 2xxx version I saw listed. If anyone knows how to mod a bios there's 2103 out now from Asus. I'm gonna see if there's any joy with this one for Snow Leopard, as far as I can tell it may do something for me. Thanks failurbydesign!

Do you want to attach it to a post with bios version number? There's literally none of them around.

UPDATE 9 June 2010 - Right so the story goes you can get the files here and then figure it out for yourself. It does indeed work with the exception of HDMI audio. Audio is a little sketchy so if anyone gets anything concrete post it up... and don't upgrade to 10.6.2 if you have a HDMI monitor. There was a ton of {censored} with the HDCP on that update and I don't remember how I solved it, let alone which kexts I used. I'm not responsible for the bios and it may or may not have a kick ass custom apple boot logo. You have no idea how many bios combinations I tried, no idea. Literally a couple of weeks. Put it to fast boot. P5QC_Jan_2010.rar

Asus P5QC Mobo, assistance needed
noodledog replied to DigitalMulch's topic in Buying Thoughts, Reviews, and Recommendations
Also looking for that bios! Just got my p5qc osx machine up and running today.. This is gonna be sweet! -
Thanks for all the help guys! I was just gonna get a new card but I hate to see good metal go to waste. I'll investigate and report back! Pro appears to be the problem alright, but system profiler won't differentiate. KaptenKresh, if you're having driver problems on 10.5.7, try the ATI1300 kext off the iDeneb 1.5.1 disk. Funnily, it's the only one that worked for me. I spent a whole day trying kexts and efi and this was the ticket. Weird, huh?! no QE/CI though.
-
EDIT: I just saw the post below was a PRO reference also. But i'm leaving this thread up to point out there is difference. Hi guys, I've searched high and low on here for a solution for this nightware. Just in case anyone drops in to tell me X1300 is supported: I'm able to get full res all the way up to my 1920x1080x60 max. But of course, qe/hardware ci is nonexistent. So no video or 3d support. It's a X1300 PRO PCIE. I've tried every variant, several self & pre-modified kexts. Even natit_auto with x1300 pro and correct device id. The card is a pro/pcie/0x7813. I'm running iAtkos 7 (10.5.7).

Hey, have you gotten qe/ci on the x1300 Pro? I think it's the PRO part that's a big part of the problem... It's not the same as a regular x1300. I'm assuming you got it working, and if so, could you give me a hand? This bloody card is a nightware. I'm running a Dell e520... was your machine one of these infamous root device jobs also? I just don't feel like hitting another damn brick wall after all that. I'm running 10.5.7.
