  1. Hi, I've been using the 10.4.6 Goatsecx image for a while and decided to upgrade using Jas 10.4.8. I wasn't impressed with the results so decided to go back to 10.4.6. So I reformatted and reloaded 10.4.6. No wireless. I've since read how to fix this. So I took the wireless card out and reinstalled 10.4.6 again. Put in the wireless card and configured it. Yay it works. Tick the little box in network that says 'Show AirPort status in menu bar' and up comes the AirPort icon and all is well... Until I reboot. Once into Mac OS I get wireless working, but no AirPort icon. Go into Network and tick the same box (it unticked it self?!?!?). Back comes the icon... Until next reboot and it's gone again. I find this odd as I had an Airport Icon before I tried the 10.4.8 and then had to reformat and reinstall. Any one got any ideas? Oh I've also tried fixing the permissions on the drive. And also deleting my com.apple.airport.preferences.plist file. Still the same. Wireless works, but doesn't keep my setting for showing the icon! Please help me keep my sanity... LaesQ

Ok, here's what I did. Install Goatsecx 10.4.6. Then on the reboot go into the bios and then Advanced Chipset Configuration Onboard VGA Selection - Enabled Aperture Size Select - 256MB DVMT Mode Select - Fixed Mode DVMT/FIXED Memory - 64MB Save and on reboot MacOS is running sweetly. :) This has to be changed as the defaults are all wrong Cheers, LaesQ

Just a quick update... Found this thread -> http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=19399 Some guy got it working by following what they said there. So I'll give that a try later and let you know how I get on with my dodgy video probs. Cheers, LaesQ
  4. GMA900 in Socket 478?

colonels1020: What/how have you got MacOSx86 running on it? I ask as I've tried native installs with a Goatsecx 10.4.6 iso and also a Universal install 10.4.5 iso. Both give me screwed up video so I can't do the final stage of setup. The first section of setup works fine, I can select where I want to install, what I want to install, and it all goes on fine. But after the reboot, the video gives me very odd things, blue screen with mouse, grey screens with mouse and even a nice corrupt pink screen without mouse. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers, LaesQ

I've found a few places to get them from. Check the links below... http://www.pcgd.co.uk/index.asp?function=D...&productid=3515 http://www.pcgiant.co.uk/catalog/asrockp4d...ga-p-18689.html http://www.akcom.net/index3.php?prodid=422...tname=Computers http://www.zoomcomputers.co.uk/index.php?m...products_id=121 http://www.computersupermarket.com/Product...ils.php/142/394 I've tried to add one to the basket on each site and all of them happily did it, so I assume they all have stock. As for how good each supplier is, I have no idea. I got mine from lootsale.co.uk who now don't list the product on their site. The board arrived about a week and a half of ordering it and they never replied to my emails requesting what was happening with my order. Another thing to bear in mind is that I've not managed to get the video working correctly on this board. I've tried Goatsecx 10.4.6 image and also one titled MaC.OsX.10.4.5.Universal.Install.DVD(INTEL_AMD_SSE3_SSE2).iso. Both happily install, but after the first reboot (to setup final settings) the video does some rather odd things. Firstly I get a blue or corrupt looking blue screen with perfectly fine cursor. Then I get some odd pink very corrupt looking screen. Finally it all clears to a corrupt grey screen with white box. The mouse cursor is always displayed correctly. Another thing to look out for is processor compatiblity. I tried 1.8GHz P4 (Northwood) and the machine does not boot (it's not listed on Asrock's cpu list). I banged in a 3.0GHz P4 (Northwood) and it then booted fine. CPU compatiblity list can be found here -> http://www.asrock.com/support/CPU_Support/...el=P4Dual-915GL I'm off to post my findings and see if someone can help me with my screwed up video Hope this helps someone...
