  1. Eclau, what was your SiS chiptset? 648??? It's strange that you used 0x 5513 1039 instead of 0x 1039 5513... I cannot try it out now, as the system cannot boot after mac drive broke the boot loader!
  2. altievane, do not use macdisk to restore your old files. Macdisk has broken the Darwin bootloader. It's not there anymore :-( After reading the forums I've seen I am not the first one that has this problem using Macdisk. Use macdrive or a Linux Live distribution, instead.
  3. djdan2006, this is exactly what I've done. Yup. That may be... Does your chipset accept SATA devices? Perhaps the problem is that sis 648 doesn't even accept SATA.
  4. Wingrub Bootloader Issues

macdisk has also f***ed my boot loader! It has stopped working just after I installed macdisk and copied a couple of files. Yes it's a "Test version", but they should make more clear that it can actually break your OS! I am using acronis bootloader. WARNING! Nobody uses macdisk! Come on, why did it have to mess with the partitions? :-( I can still use acronis to get to windows, but immediatelly after selecting macosx it hangs. I can only access mac with the installation dvd boot using rd=disk0s2. Does anybody know how can I fix this? Thxs!
  5. altievane, this is exaclty the same chipset I have: SiS 648 (rev. 3) Are you using this id: 0x10395513 ? Apart from the steps given by djdan2006, I deleted the caches in /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and /System/Library/Extensions.mkext and rebooted. It didn't work. Actuall, it doesn't even boot now. I guess we are having the same kind of prob. I guess I need to restore applegeneric using windows or a live linux CD.
  6. Doesn't work here :-( My devide id ix 0x10395513 In fact, the system doesn't even boot now...
  7. Can anybody else confirm (apart from djdan2006) that this solution is working? I'll try it at home later, but I wouldn't like to put too many expectations with reasonable prove that it will work :-)
  8. ATI / NVIDIA OnBoard (P) ATA Driver

Hey great! D'ya think it's possible to make a sis chipset work with UDMA with your driver, too? I modified in the past the serverworks driver to include my device id with no luck. I'm not really sure what you did here instead... Could you give a brief explanation, and/or upload your modified source code? Let us know if you think it's possible to make the sis chipset work! thks!
  9. Sis 648 should work but without UDMA. I tried to hack & compile some drivers for the sis chipset, but never managed to make them work. So it works, but HDD is rather slow...
  10. ATI IXP ATA Driver repost

Thanks DrJägermeister. I solved the problem with macdrive after uninstalling daemon tools and removing sptd.sys (anyone with this problem should check the macdrive forums) Now, if only I knew where to start to modify/create a driver for the sis chipset... Any ideas? Changing the serverworks driver didn't do the trick. Any expert on chipsets on the Linux front? Perhaps there are some similarities which can be exploted. I have compiled again with level 3 and it doesn't work either. And I have also modified the nforce drive with no luck. What is strange is that other people with sis chipsets, but different versions, have DMA enabled. I have no clue where in the code the DMA capabilities are detected.
  11. ATI IXP ATA Driver repost

Macdrive doesn't detect any mac partition... I guess I should see a new "disk" in my computer, right? There's nothign there.
  12. ATI IXP ATA Driver repost

Well... This is me again ............. form windows :-) Yup! I've broken my Mac Installation. I can confirm that the trick of modifying the serverworks driver for the sis chipset doesn't work :-) Hopefully I'll be able to access the mac drive from windows with some program and restore the files removed. I have backups of the other drivers. Too bad I didn't make a backup of /System/Library/Extensions.mkext and /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache. Perhaps those will be created on the fly or I can get them form my installation dvd. But, I had to try! Scousi, do you have any idea if the same thing could work by modifying another driver?
  13. ATI IXP ATA Driver repost

Yes I have recompiled and changed Info.plst and I already had removed everything you said except /System/Library/Extensions.mkext. I'm removing this one and rebooting now... Yes, I know it's risky ;-)
  14. ATI IXP ATA Driver repost

Scousi, it's strange but the only AppleOnboardPCATA.kext I can find in my system is in: /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleOnboardPCATA.kext I have modiffied this one for the SiS chipset, but I think that the one the system is loadin is "AppleGenericPCATA.kext" which is in: /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleGenericPCATA.kext The profiler under the "Extensions" menu is telling that the driver being load is: AppleGenericPCATA: Version: 1.3 Last Modified: 11/25/05 7:33 AM Get Info String: 1.3, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2000-2004 Location: /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleGenericPCATA.kext kext Version: 1.3 Load Address: 0x29147000 Valid: Yes Authentic: Yes Dependencies: Incomplete Dependency Errors: com.apple.iokit.IOATAFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.kernel.iokit: No valid version of this dependency can be found com.apple.kernel.libkern: No valid version of this dependency can be found Integrity: Kext has no receipt Do you have any clue on what's going on? Thxs again!
  15. ATI IXP ATA Driver repost

Scousi, will this kind of patch work for SIS chipsets? I see you added this line of code: { 0x43761002, 0x00, 3, "ATI IXP" } to AppleServerWorksATA. Do you think it may work adding a similar line for SIS chipsets? BTW, where did you get 0x43761002 from? Using reggie? What should I look for: PCI devices -> IDE controller/Host PCI or what? How did you exaclty get this number? Thxs!
