1. Hello, I have just installed Snow Leopard 10.6.8 (using 10.6 and then upgraded to 10.6.8 after) on my HP DC7600 computer system. This one has Pentium D 3.4 GHz processor, but it will be the same as Pentium 4. I was able to install using OSX86 MODCD for bootup, and I simply used a retail vanilla version of Snow Leopard on a USB stick (no hacked distrobution, 100% legitimate !! ) I just installed without selecting any custom additions. When it finish installing, you must keep the OSX86 MODCD inside, let it load into Mac OS X Next step, you must explore the OSX86 MODCD, open the PREboot.dmg file, copy the extra folder and paste into your root directory of your system. In the Preboot.dmg window, you will now see postboot.dmg, open that one. Copy the folder with packages onto your desktop Install the Chameleon package, and LegacyKernel package Restart computer, take cd out, see if computer boots into Mac OS X flawlessly without need of cd. If yes, you will then need to install the kexts found at the bottom of this post. Just use kexthelper to install the Audio and Ethernet. Your graphics should automatically work with Mac OS X, as it is 100% compatible (Intel GMA 950) Restart the computer, voila you now have a 100% Vanilla installation !!! This means you will not have to worry about updating the system!!! (( Please do not install sleepenabler, if you do and you do a system update... it will cause kernel panic unless you update sleepenabler first. It is not worth it incase you update by accident, so I do not install sleepenabler )) I am upgrading it to Lion right now 10.7, so hopefully it works, will let you know if it allows Lion (May not, since it requires Core 2 Duo systems, then again About this Mac sees my Pentium D as a Core 2 Duo, doubt that Pentium 4 will work with Lion though) kextdc7600.zip

3. I installed using iAtk0s 10.6.3, and I get usb support only on the usb port on the right side of my laptop... the other 2 on the left do not work. This is very very strange. Is there anyway to solve that? I chose the USB fixes at installation. Model: HP HDX 16t 1155CA Intel Centrino 2 2.13 GHz Nvidia GeForce 9600M *Even with a vanilla install using Nawcom boot cd, still no usb*
4. how to get gigabyte GA-EP43T-USB3 to work?

I gave up with the sound, I would get it to work good, but everytime upon reboot I get kernel panics. I decided to just purchase a Startech 7.1 channel USB audio card. It instantly gets recognized and the sound quality seems to be awesome. (has mic in, spdif in and out)
5. Nawcom BootCD; Cannt install on MBR partition

Hi, I too am unable to install on an MBR drive. I downloaded the files, but have no idea how to merge them into the installation cd? I have my Snow Leopard 10.6.0 installation CD on a 8 GB USB drive, i find it installs much faster than on cd. Anyways, Can you tell me how to put those files into the installation and where? Thanks, or direct to a forum that discussed this. Been lookin everywhere (( You would think when Nawcom says that the cd is MBR friendly... it would be right out the box instead of havin to download other files (that he doesnt mention) )) thanks in advance **** UPDATE **** I figured that the OSInstall.mpkg was probably hidden, so I went into terminal (( Please note, I used another hackintosh system I had so I could set up my CD)) I went into terminal and typed defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES typed my password and all hidden files are shown I was able to find the OSInstall.mpkg, and I replaced it with the one that Verdant pointed us to on this post Anyways it did nothing for the MBR situation, still asks for GUID
6. how to get gigabyte GA-EP43T-USB3 to work?

The audio still does not work... hmm, maybe this ALC_888 does not work with 10.6.5 ? are there any compatible sound cards i can purchase or usb sound cards that are 5.1 channel or greater? I have a startech usb 2 channel audio, it works perfectly with Mac OS X, but its quality is bad.
7. how to get gigabyte GA-EP43T-USB3 to work?

OMG!!! THANK YOU!!! MY XFX Nvidia GeForce GT 240 512 MB is now working perfectly!!! 1920x1080 resolution, and Quartz extreme!!! I tried the lizard method, that only gave me a little bit better resolution, but no good graphics... I then tried the file NVEnabler 64.kext and it worked!!! I used KExt Helper b7 to install. OMG IT WORKS!!!! I tried NVEnabler 64.kext before from another site, I guess that other one was not meant for this card? But yayyyyyy!!! THANKS ALOT MAN!!! I just have to get my sound to work, its an ALC888 sound card right now I am using a starTach USB sound card, it works plug and play (but I rather use my motherboard sound card) any suggestions? I tried AppleHDA and HDAEnabler, they produced very good sound, but upon reboot... kernel panic... and I had to remove them to log in again. So for now using the USB sound card. i am running 10.6.5
8. Asus EN210 graphics card works native

Hi, sry i have been neglecting to check the forum. I simply tossed in the Asus EN210 and it worked with just having graphicsenabler=yes in the com.apple.boot.plist file I did not do anything else to get it to work, it just worked.. I am going to check to see if maybe they have new revisions of this card, might be a reason why some people cannot get it to work.
9. how to get gigabyte GA-EP43T-USB3 to work?

Hi, thanks for the quick response. I was able to get it booting on its own by running the myhack installer that was on the Empire EFI Legacy core disc (the folder post installation) it now boots without disc. It did not work with the latest version of myhack installer, only this older version found on the cd. Anyways, i updated to 10.6.5, and it boots correctly, no panics. Just now I have trouble with my nvidia geforce GT 240 graphics. Cannot get that to work. My ethernet works. I am building this for my cousin who is leaving tomorrow and I thought I could have this working... I have made installs using gigabyte G31M-ES2L, that is by far the most compatible motherboard. The only reason I chose the EP43T-USB3 is that it has DDR3 and 4 slots for RAM. yes if you can send me the files that would be super great! I have not modified the dsdt, this has strictly been a myhack install. I do not mind doing a clean install to get this working, as this is an empty machine anyways. I tried copy and paste your code into terminal, nothing happens, I am assuming it should produce an .aml file on my desktop? I dont see anything.
10. Hi, I have a Gigabyte EP43T-USB3 motherboard and Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 processor. I tried ##### and Empire EFI, the only one that worked was Empire EFI Legacy boot for Core CPU Anyways, I get it installed, I install myhack, and reboot, and it wont boot into snow leopard without using the Empire CD.. I tried installing Chameleon RC5, still doesnt allow booting.. Also.. I downloaded the 10.6.5.dmg combo update and installed it, upon reboot, it still shows my system as 10.6 ... so weird. Is there any guide/method to getting this to work? Ethernet works out of box, sound is a no go, and video (Im using nvidia geforce GT 240 512 MB) that wont work either.
11. **Updated** SleepEnabler for 10.6.5

I installed the newest sleepenabler.kext for 10.6.4, now my computer goes into sleep, but when i click my mouse or keyboard or even the power button, it comes back on but starts off at my POST screen... as if sleep just shut the computer off and restarted... defeats the purpose. Anyone know whats going on? Using Intel E3300, MSI motherboard G31TM-P21 my power options is set to S3 in bios. Anyone have ideas how to solve this?
12. Okay, so I made a vanilla installation of Snow Leopard 10.6 and updated to 10.6.4 I used the ##### Supported and Retail Disc method, then used ##### ##### to get it to boot without the cd after installation, all is well, programs run amazing, sound, internet, awesome.. then I decided to plug my ipod touch in a usb port and it didnt pick up, no charging not being recognized by the system.. I tried on my windows 7 partition and it works. Anyways I figured maybe its just my usb ports that screw up while in snow leopard, so I tried an external hard drive, picked it up fast and works... i tried usb thumb drives all work amazing... just the ipod touch wont get battery charge and doesnt get detected even in disk utility.. Now i dont know if 10.6.4 is the reason that its screwed, because I didnt not try ipod touch when it had only 10.6.0 The funny thing is that I tried the ipod touch on my HP HDX 16 hackintosh (using Snow Leo PC hack distro method) and the ipod works there... so strange. I then tried on my other computer that is a vanilla install (##### supported and #####) and that one does not work with ipod touch... Now my conclusion is that ipod touch just does not work on vanilla installations? Or am i wrong? Any ideas? Thanks I Dont think my hardware is relevant to list here, since I tried on 2 different computers with different boards and such and both had same problem (both running retail installs) while the HP laptop running the snow leo PC distro works.. **** EDIT!!! SOLVED!!! Solution: I found it strange that it worked on the hacked distrobutions but not on my vanilla distro... so I decided to check my ##### program, and saw that there was a fix called IOUSBFamily.kext so i clicked it to install, restarted... still nothing... then I realized it was installed in EXTRA/Extensions folder... so I used Kext Helper and installed the IOUSBFamily.kext that way and then used Kext Utility to repair, restarted the computer... OMG ORGASM TO HEAR THE SOUND OF MY IPOD TOUCH CHARGE!!! AND ITUNES SEES IT NOW YAY!!! HAHAHAHAH, sry for the caps im just uber excited. It was strange that my ipod shuffle was working and my old ipod worked before I did this.. but I realized it might be because they do not require much power... then I read that Ipod Touch needs a usb 2.0 to work, and all my USB ports are 2.0... so was strange, but then forgot that cuz its a vanilla installation, that there might have been a driver (kext) that would need installing and voila it works! (the Snow Leo PC and Snow Leopard Hazard distros both have IOUSBFamily.kext automatically installed is why they worked)
13. Hi, just wanted to share with you all that I tried other NVidia GeForce 210 cards and none of them worked properly, sometimes I got a black screen with graphicsenabler on, sometimes the desktop would work but start to freeze... But now I tried Asus EN210 and it works with graphicsenabler=yes no black screen, perfect resolution, QE/CI on and it recognizes it as Nvidia 210 512 MB So for those of you looking for a cheap build, this is the cheapest you can go using dedicated graphics natively. Do not try other GeForce 210 cards, i went through BFG, MSI and EVGA models of 210 and none of them worked. You can try different models, but i suggest you just grab the Asus one since its cheap and does a great job. Only thing is that it is not fanless. It is low profile though with a low profile bracket too.
14. I have a Zotac GF9300-G-E with the following specifications: CPU: Intel E5400 2.7 GHz Pentium Dual Core Video: Onboard GeForce 9300 Hard Drive: 500 GB sata notebook drive RAM: 4 GB DDR2 @ 800 Mhz External DVD Samsung USB Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Okay so basically this board installed using ##### Supported, everything went though, have native graphics support, LAN, USB all works, Sound is scratchy with VoodooHDA (does not work with anything else) the wireless LAN does not work either.. Here is my problem, sometimes after the apple grey screen logo, it goes to a blue screen and freezes there... then i shut off the computer totally and start again and it works, but not always, its like it only boots properly like 1 out of 5 tries on average. I have no clue whats going on, anyone else have a problem like this? ** Oh and to anyone that wants to know, I put a Startach USB sound card in, didnt need any kexts, works amazing. As for Wireless I used an Asus USB-N10 which is supported with the driver that comes with it.
