  1. I'm currently running Lion on a C2Q Q9300 (OC'd to 3ghz) and it's starting to get a little long in the tooth. I'd like to upgrade to an ivy bridge setup to run mountain lion, so I'd like some recomendation on parts. For motherboards, I'd like to stick with Gigabyte, Intel, or Asus as that's what we can get from our suppliers (I work at a computer store). I don't need a top of the line rig as it's not used for gaming, but I do use VMs on it quite a bit, so having decent processing power is more important than video performance. I'll most likely reuse my 9500GT unless for some reason it's not going to work in ML or with the new build. I need dual monitor support as well. The cpu I'd like to use will be the Core i5-3570K. Will be running a Vanilla kernel if that makes any difference. Don't need thunderbolt, but want USB 3. Cliffs: Need recomendation for 1155 mobo to work with the i5-3570K Recomendations for video cards if my 9500GT won't work Thanks I was looking at a Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3P, since it has the realtek audio instead of the Via chip that some people are reportedly having issues with, any thoughts?

    What happened to my thread?

Thanks Poco. I posted it there since I'd assumed it had something to do with the update I'd applied. I would have contacted the mod that deleted it, but I didn't know who it was. I know moderation can be time consuming, but it really doesn't take much to drop the user a note to let them know what happened. Saves threads like these from being created .

    What happened to my thread?

while I agree that Moderators should use their own discretion (I'm a mod myself on other forums) if a topic is removed without any explanation then how is the person who posted it supposed to know why it was removed?
  4. I'd created a thread a couple days ago about some trouble I'd been experiencing after upgrading to 10.7.3 and it's seemingly gone. If it was deleted for some rule violation, would it hurt to get a PM about it so I could either fix it, or understand what I did wrong in the first place?
  5. I updated to 10.7.3 a couple days ago, and now I'm getting a lot of pauses and system hangs that will go away in anywhere from 5 seconds to 3 minutes. I get the spinning beach ball of death, and if I just leave it eventually it'll come back. Seems to be the worst when using Firefox or printing. I don't recall having this issue in 10.7.2 so I'm thinking it had something to do with the update. After running the update, my audio didn't work. i just copied my AppleHDA kext that worked fine from my 10.7.2 install to S/L/E using KextInstaller, rebooted and my audio worked again. Any help that can be offered is appreciated. I'm using this machine at work and it's driving me crazy.
  6. I have a problem from time to time where Bonjour will seemingly cease to work. Since my printers are bonjour, I end up not able to print and have to reboot in order to restore functionality. This used to happen in SL as well, but i finally just decided to set them up via IP. What I'd like to know is if there's a terminal command I can run that will reset Bonjour or if I should just stop being lazy and set them up via IP like I had them in SL?

What method works best for ALC888 sound....?

you sir, are a god amonst men. :thumbsup_anim: One thing to add tho, I needed to set my output device to line out for my speakers to work. Thanks, now my snoleo install is complete, running 64bit kernel and kexts as well
  8. ok, so i gave up on the G31M-S2L and installed a EP45-UD3L (closest thing I had in stock) and everything is working except the sound. I used the stock DSDT.AML that was part of the OP's SL Pack and I think that's what's wrong. Anyone care to tell me what i need to change in my DSDT.aml and what kext I need for the UD3L (ALC888, iirc)? Thanks EDIT: Got it working, thanks to this post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1268731 downloaded the zip file that he posted, replaced my DSDT.aml and removed the LegacyHDA kext, installed the AppleHDA.kext from the zip, ran the Kext Utility from the op's SL pack, rebooted and VOILA! Sound icon in titlebar. had to switch my output to Line Out in the Sound Prefpane, but seems to work 100%, in 64bit as well.

I also don't know how to rebuild the extensions.mkext in extra after replacing the files from the above zip file, I now have a sound icon, but no sound (could be in the wrong jack) and still no ethernet. any help is greatly appreciated, as this is the last steps to a perfect 10.6 install on a G31m-S2L EDIT: got network going by installing a D-Link DFE-538TX. Still no audio tho, tried all 3 jacks.
  11. would it be possible to get a little help with this DSDT stuff? I'm running a GA-G31M-S2L, and managed to get to the desktop, but I've got no sound and no ethernet. is it possible to use kexts from my working Leopard install? EDIT: Seems as tho I might have fixed my audio.(http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=181558&hl=) the icon is now there, but there's no sound. I might have it in the wrong jack. still no ethernet tho. EDIT2: Got network going by installing a DFE-538TX d-link card. still no sound tho, chip is an ALC662. Funny thing is that the network chip is exactly the same as the EP45-UD3R, so no idea why that's not working.

    Pwnage Tool 2.1 Released

this may sound like a dumb question, but is it possible to un-pwn your iPhone after it's been done? I'm set to get mine this week, but I don't want to bugger it up and mess up my warranty...
  14. I"m having an issue where it doesn't seem to get past the Verifying DMI Pool Data. No B0 error (altho i have followed the instructions in the first post) and the HDD light is on steady. It just hangs there. I am using a Gigabyte G31M-SL2. Any ideas?
