1. Oops haha. Slgihtly off. Any ideas for my issue?
2. Tried using MyHack 2.0 to put the SL and Lion install dvd on, replaced the extra folder like the guy in the video did from JaS link - I get a few different errors depending on what I do... CI CONFIGURATION BEGIN Or some other thing before that with 88:11 or something, or Appleusbcdc start init device failed, or still waiting on root device Not 100% On what I should do ):
3. Great. Issue is - I don't have an optical Drive. I currently have 10.6 in a VM, a 16GB and a 512MB usb stick #####, #####, empire EFI, Snow Darwin etc. Any way I can take a 10.7 dmg or iso and put it on a usb stick? I've seen some different ways but not sure which is best. Thanks. Infact - link you gave - Guy used a disc for OS X install DVD - i have teh image so just use that inside my VM and do it that way, should work... Might give it a shot in a bit.
4. Hey guys, Not been here in a while but I'm looking at giving this another go at the start of a 10.X cycle! I've had a look about before and information on my motherboard - Asus P6T Workstation Professional is a bit scarce. There is some info on other P6T boards (which I imagine can't be too different in terms of chipsets used on the boards) and for some reason loads of different Gigabyte boards. So basically what I'm wondering you guys can help with is if you know what modifcations I'd need to do to OS X to make everything work. Currently I have ASUS P6T workstation Professional Intel Core i7 920 6GB DDR3 1333MHz NVIDIA GTX 460 768MB As well as Marvell SAS controller Generic 2 port SATA controller I'm not overly fussed about either of the last two mentioned working under OS X - I understand they're a bit of a niche so it's doubtful any work has been done on them. Audio is Realtek, Ethernet is Marvell, Storage is Intel ICH10r Is all the stuff I'd need available for Lion yet or will I still have to wait a bit? Thanks very much in advance for any help you can give me
5. iATKOS and OSx86 (FAQ)

Trying to install 10.5.7 iAtkos on a P5B Deluxe, get a Can't Find boot device on -v on first boot up after install. Tried with and without the Jmicron kexts, im gonna try again without the apple ps2 kexts since this apparently might fix it. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...root_device..22
6. Hey everyone! Not done any OS X 86 stuff in a longgg time. I've got a new rig (have done for a little while now) and I'm currently running XP on it, waiting for Windows 7. ASUS P6T Workstation Pro Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.4GHz OCZ 6GB DDR3-1333MHz CL7 NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB (I know, its long in the tooth, replacement soon) 2 x Seagate 75GB Cheetah 15.5K RPM My motherboard, the ASUS P6T Workstation Pro has a Marvell 88SE6320 SAS controller with 2 SAS ports on it. I'm currently using 2 x 75GB Seagate Cheetahs in Raid 0 for XP. Now before anyone blasts me for using such a rig, I have a good reason! I'm not a very patient person when it comes to computers. I photograph with a Canon 5DmkII and the RAW files are often around the 40MB mark, 16Bit TIFFs are 140MB or so. This means trying to load files into ram, sometimes takes a couple seconds, rather than instantly. I like instantly. So I got my hands on these SAS drives from a good friend of mine *cough* they were being repaced by newer drivers (i think they are 2007/08 drives...) so he gave them a better home Anyway, I'm gonna split the raid off since I don't think the performance advantage is that big and I'm gonna use one as the OS Drive, one as a scratch disk and a 2 x 500GB 7,200rpm Raid 0 + 1TB 7,200rpm backup for photo storage/archiving. But before I do all that I want to give OS X again, I'm considering just waiting for snow leapord. but If i can do it now then might as well. I wanted to know IF It'd be possible to install OS X onto a SAS drive (not raid)? For XP and Vista I needed to have drivers, but for XP I just made a slipstream disk. for OS X though I've no clue how you'd go about installing on an unsupported controller... So - in short - Can I install OS X on a drive on the Marvell 88SE6320 SAS controller?
7. I used LEO4ALL 10.5.2Is there anyway to apply patches from the DVD that are in the customize menu onto OS X after you have installed it? I think it might have the audio patch on the disk...My Ethernet IS : Attansic LanMy Audio IS : SoundMAX ADI1988If that is any help on suggestion a solution
8. Ok so, specs first per usual ASUS P5B-E (Intel P965 ICH-8 Chipset) Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHz [was @ 3.2GHz, clocked it down to be safe in OS X] 2Gb OCZ-Platinum DDR2-800 CL4.0 NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB [Oldschool G8X, none of this G92 stuff =D] IF ANYONE can help with the audio and ethernet problem I am having, please add me on AIM - dd_nvidia@mac.com or msn DD_nVidia@hotmail.co.uk or post on this. I posted this morning about OS X 10.5.2 install not loading from my PATA DVD drive, I tried once to get around this by installing it on the other computer upstairs, (with worked...with a PATA DVD Drive :S) then taking the drive downstairs. This time, I didn't use the Vanilla kernel, and the only patch I applied was the GeForce kext patch, and not the NVijection 640Mb thingy. Well, it works =D No Audio, No Video Drivers, No QE, No CI, and most disturbingly, NO ETHERNET!!!!!! But, there is hope! I already stuck the Nvidia driver thing v4.1 on a usb stick before hand, so popped that in, ran the .pkg, installed restarted, what do ya know! Fully Hardware Accelerated, QE and CI Enabled :( So, that leaves the Audio and Ethernet. I'll grab a USB to Ethernet adapter tomorrow on the way home from school, heard that a simple kext will enable use if them Help to get the Ethernet working properly would be great though. Then I'll do some hunting for audio drivers / patches. I get 0 audio at all, and it doesn't even detect a sound device :/ Help is much appreciated =D
9. OS X 10.5.2 wont boot from a PATA DVD Drive

I have the LEO 4 All 10.5.2 disk. I installed Vanilla Kernel, the 2 Nvidia drivers, and the default bootloader (GUID i think?). I haven't modified any kexts yet since I cant actually get into OS X. As for EFI, er, god I'm not sure exactly what I selected - sorry. Could anyone give me a run down of what I should have in terms of customized features in the install for my system specs? I'll grab a SATA DVD Drive tomorrow.
10. Hey everyone, not been here in quite a while, good to be back though Firstly, system specs. ASUS P5B-E Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2Gb DDR2-800Mhz CL4.0 NVIDIA 8800GTS 640MB 4 x SATA HDD + 1 x PATA HDD 1 x PATA DVD-RW (Pioneer 111) Ok, so heres the deal: I got 10.5.2 and I'm trying to install it on my pc. The disk works since I'm on my IBM T43 OS X 10.5.2 =D Now, when I put the disk in, I was getting the .plist error, and I read that it didn't like the PATA controller on my board (ASUS P5B-E) so what I did was go upstairs to my little shuttle pc, lob on a 320GB drive, and install it up there with the vanilla kernel nvidia drivers etc. then when it finished, I unplugged the drive took it downstairs and plugged it into my other rig. It booted no problem, but when it gets to the bit (i used -v boot) where the login window should appear, it just goes black, as if it can't load the video drivers. Now, I DID install 2 different NVIDIA drivers from the install disk, so that might be the problem. So yeah, what stuff do i need to add at the install stage for it to work on my setup, vanilla kernel, nvidia drivers etc? PLUS Will a SATA DVD Drive cure the .plist thing? Thanks in advance =D
11. Hey everyone! Before anyone asks, yes I tried searching the forums, the search is broken. I did go through over 20 pages, and looked at relevant things but I am still no closer to solving my problem, but I have tried. I used to be a massive fan of OS X 86, until about a year and a half ago when I got my 8800GTS, and at the time there was no fix for OS X 10.4 Now I'm back in the game =D - ok so I'm a little rusty now but heh! My latest problem is my IBM T43 Laptop =) I had a spare 80GB 2.5inch PATA drive lying around so i formatted it HFS and installed 10.5.2 on it, worked perfectly aside a few things. No Wireless [another topic] and No Video Drivers + QE/CI [ethernet and sound seem fine] Obviously I'm here looking for advice on the Video side of things. I thought this had an ATI X300, but OS X says its a X600, although it says 64Mb which is correct. (i think! been ages since I last checked, never really use this laptop) Pentium M 1.86Ghz, 1GB DDR2-533Mhz, ATI Radeon X300/600. So, any help on where I can find drivers, get the QE/CI working etc. would be much appreciated.
12. new imac and gaming

Indeed, I was really surprised they even put ATI cards in, Personally I still think the NVIDIA cards are much better just now, especially on the mobile form side, 8700GT is the fastest mobile graphics card (for gaming, not including workstation cards for raw data output) on the market just now. I think Apple are sacraficing to much power for style, iMacs should have Quad Core already, and now they won't have it till the next iMac update in 6-12 months for a mid way update. (Mobile Quad Cores come out Q1 08 I think) Also for a gaming machine, I really suggest you build one yourself, much cheaper and it isn't that hard. As for cases looking ugly, my Thermaltake Full Tower 12 Slot ARMOR case, fully kitted with fans (4x120mm + 2x92mm) along with my 2 x 22" Xerox LCD's looks perfect on my desk, but don't buy taky mac "look-a-likes" because most look really cheap and nasty!
13. Core 2 Duo System...

sweet, as for the video, the 8800 probably packs enough punch to work fine with most things without lagging (obviously if they NEED CI or QE then they wont work) so that shouldn't be to bad. The real reason for wanting to do this is I want to use apature and CS3 on the mac, but my macbooks screen is to low res, and the colours arn't perfect on it, but my PC has 2 x 22" Xerox LCDs which I have calibrated to the correct colours and brightness, plus on dual screens, apature would be the bomb. I could also use Parrallels (got it on my macbook) to run XP in the background so for anything I need to do in XP I can do easy enough. I do have another system here, but its a XPC Shuttle system, with a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and a GeForce 6600 (AGP 8x) and I haven't tried installing OS X 86 on that yet, might give that a go soon. I also have an IBM Thinkpad T43 with an ATI Mobilty X300 and a Pentium M 1.8Ghz with 1Gb of ram - I think everything on it should work fine apart from the graphics and built in WIFI as I haven't seen anyone else with a x300 mobile, nor have I checked the wifi vendor/model yet, but i'll have a look for that soon, but if anyone can tell me if the CI/QE will work on the Mobilty X300 then i'll give it a go.
14. Alright here goes. I built a brand new Core 2 Duo system for christmas, but haven't actually done the whole OS X 86 thing since I got my Macbook, but i'mma give another shot! I currently have: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz 4Mb L2 Cahce (Conroe) (Overclocked @ 3.1Ghz) ASUS P5B-E (Sucks i know) 2Gb Dual Channel DDR2-800Mhz CL4 (Overclocked @ 1066Mhz) NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640Mb (stock atm) I have SATA and PATA drives so if i need to patch the sata after installing on pata its not a problem btw. If for some reason this doesnt work, say for sound (which i use a lot) I would be able to purchase a sound card for under $80ish Anyway, if that would work, please tell me, and if certain bits won't work at all, please suggest parts that will work that are pretty cheap lol- thanks
15. Yeah, basically unplug the vga/dvi cable from your graphics card and plug it into your onboard, if the bios is set up correctly, it should auto detect VGA/On Board, if not look at the settings in the bios, or just unplug the graphics card if you have to. off topic kinda : oh what, now the geforce 6800's work (I had a 6800GT) oh great, now I have a 8800GTS 640Mb...darn it lol
