  1. Asus 1201N Installation and support

    Anyone ?
  2. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Guys need your help ! Spent 6 hours yesterday to create that **** bootable usb stick but failed. My MBP is running on 10.7.3, i am using my sl 10.6.0 dvd and the netbookboot maker 0.8.4.RC1. I portioned that stick with guid, mac os journaled and restored image from dvd to usb. started net bookmaker. but when i plug the stick into my asus black screen with a blinking cursor shows up and that 's it / or the original win starts but does not boot from stick. it seems that stick is not bootable. Bios settings : 1st boot device removable, 2nd dvd, 3rd hdd. When i plug the stick back into my mbp it opens up and shows the sl installation files etc. Can it be, that i am not able to create that sl boot stick under 10.7.3 ? It seems that netbookboot maker does not change anything on the stick although it is showing some action when i start the app. Need help - thanks in advance.
  3. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Studied now constantly this thread and must admit that i am not the "console" expert. Currently running 10.6.5 dual boot with win7. Is there any step-by-step guide for update available. Genuine machine except change to dell mini WLAN. Help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Alternative to bootcamp is Parallel Desktop 6 - even better than Bootcamp because based on VM and you can drag & drop files from sl to win etc.
  6. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Did anyone installed the security update 2010-006 yet ?
  7. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Has anybody patched the hdmi audio yet ?
  8. Asus 1201N Installation and support

On the first page is a link to a google doc. Just install 10.6 and then update via combo update as described. Looking at the latest answers to my question you can even update also the latest 2010-005 , graphics update etc...
  9. Asus 1201N Installation and support

thx - i will give the updates a try and let you know. i accendently updated once my hacked s10 netbook and it crashed - so i am a bit reluctant to update right away. hdmi audio: As the hdmi connection is a feature only the newest macminis and mbp have, it would be a great benefit if it would support audio also. Anyway - keep on the good work guys
  10. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Hi guys, just to be sure before installing: Is it safe to update the latest updates - like the graphics update, iTunes etc. ? Another question: Is there any way to get the hdmi out working WITH sound ? That option would make the asus even more worthy than my MBP ! Thanks in advance.

thanks - i unfortunatly the option is still not selectable (light grey) - i copied it in the mentioned folder and started kext helper.... i was hoping turning bt off would extend battery life...
  12. Asus 1201N Installation and support

Hi guys, first post - so first task is to thank you for the good work Currently i have a Lenovo S10 and now the Asus 1201N fully working (so i can hand them over to wife and kids and keep my MBP for myself *harharhar*) Just to let you know - here is what i did (and also what i did wrong): First i changed the WLAN card to the recommended Dell (bought in China for less than 20 Euronen). Follow the instruction and you are done for the hardware - attention to change antenna to J2. I partioned the disk as described in OSX and started Win7 Installation (not the recovery version) - so unluckily this "special" unattended black Win Version re-formatted (without first notice) the HD again - so i had both partitions MBR. There was no way of installing OSX on the MBR partition, so i did it all again but this time with the provided Win7 Recovery Version. I followed the instructions but i installed first OSX and then Win7 and after Win7 had to set once (!) the partition into active mode (in the order as descibed) and it was good to go. Unfortunatly i installed all the kext files provided and i suffered from KP - so i had to re-install OSX again. But this time i followed the instructions by hard and i only installed the optional kexts on the bottom of the page. I had a little trouble installing my WLAN Canon printer, as the software rejected installation (dunno why) but i found a work around. Only one thing is really bothering me: In comparison to the Lenovo the sensitivity of the trackpad is not optimal. Is anybody else suffering from the same problem (the click & dragging option i already turned off-drove me crazy). And i am not able to turn Bluetooth off - so the battery is not really lasting the 3 hours. Any hints ?
