1. attempting to fix DSDT for iLok with Pro Tools MP 9

Yeah I see basically how it works. I actually tried that fix on the UCH1-7 and it didn't change anything.
2. I have successfully installed SL 10.6.6 on my rig. I now need to get Pro Tools working correctly. The system is stable as far as I can tell but I can't get it to recognize my iLok. The problem I believe is that my USB ports show up as expansion slots. I've read that this can be fixed through a DSDT patch but the ones I've tried so far have done nothing. here's my setup: AMD Phenom II x4 2.9 ghz nVidia Geforce GT 430 AMD 785G Motherboard Hitachi 1 TB Hard Drive
3. (GUIDE) Getting your Busratio

I have an AMD Phenom II x4 635 at 2.9 Ghz. Where exactly can i find the external clock speed?
4. this thread was originally about my video card but i realized the problem is not the graphics, its my sound. I'm getting sound stuttering bad with the ALC888s. I have an AMD motherboard. I currently have voodooHDA installed. No luck with it. I've tried turning down the output settings in Audio-MIDI Setup. I've tried installing the HDAEnabler and ALC888 kexts. Nothing seems to change. I'm not sure what to do. I've also tried deleting voodooHDA and using the ALC8xxHDA.kext and enabler from #####. With those installed my sound card isnt even recognized. It shows up as Intel High Definition Audio in System Profiler, but there's no speaker icon in the Finder Bar. edit: So it seems that it is something to do with the graphics thats messing up the sound. I installed using AzaliaAudio kext and the sound worked fine. But when i upgraded from 10.6.2 to 10.6.6 and enabled my graphics card with an EFI string the sound starts to stutter. fixed: it was a bus ratio problem.
5. I got Snow Leopard 10.6.2 running on my AMD machine. It's an HP Pavilion desktop. I followed the tutorial on here to get my ATI Radeon 5450 card working, but i had to put in one extra step to get updated to 10.6.4. I had to install 10.6.3 first. after doing so I get the grey apple screen with no spinning wheel. If i boot with -v or -s it goes to a black screen. i'm not sure what to do. is there a combo update where i could reinstall and then skip the 10.6.3 update, or would this probably happen with the 10.6.4 update? my specs: HP Pavilion Elite AMD Phenom II x4 ATI Radeon HD 5450 6gb DDR3
6. i was successful previously in running Leopard 10.5.8 on this machine with iatkos v7. I am using SnowLeo x86 DVD in my attempt at installing Snow Leopard. my machine: Sony Vaio VGN-FZ140e gmax3100 chipset/intergrated graphics intel core 2 duo processor not sure about motherboard type kexted used during installation: legacyAHCI appleRTC applePS2 GMAx3100 OpenHalt NullCPU FakeSMC voodooHDA PowerMini DSDT Patcher it installs succesfully and i go through the account creation. the screen only displays on the left side, but it still functions at that point. after the computer restarts for the first time i lose all display. it does the grainy white lines and such. any ideas? Also i get the "hibernation file is too old, ForceWake=y to override" error once the computer reboots after initial install.
7. i could really some help on this guys. ive been at this for 3 days now. haha. i got iDeneb 10.5.7 running on my computer, but it will not boot without a dvd in the drive. if i install the ATY_init and ATIframebuffer kexts, it will boot without the dvd but it has caused some weird program crashes and kernel panics. ive also been trying to get Snow Leopard 10.6.2 running with no luck. it shuts down about two seconds into boot if i dont install the SMBiosResolver kext, but if i do install it, my computer then just freezes at the white apple logo. i'd love some advice or suggestions. thanks in advance. my computer specifications: AMD Phenom II x4 ghz H-RS780-uATX motherboard 785G AMD chipset 1TB SATA HDD ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card 6 gb DDR3-1333 RAM
8. My Specifications, Will It Work?

any thoughts guys?
9. So i just wanted to post here after having a completely unsuccessful day attempting to install both Leopard and Snow Leopard, and ask whether or not, with my current specs, will it be possible to get some form of Leopard up and running? if youre not sure, at least give me your best guess. it would be very, very helpful. AMD Phenom II x4 635 2.9ghz H-RS780-uATX motherboard AMD 785G chipset 1TB SATA HDD ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card 6 gb DDR3-1333 RAM also note, i did not see my motherboard in the compatibility list. does that mean it is definitely NOT compatible? or just that no one has tested that specific motherboard yet?
10. Completely Black Screen, Post Installation

ok i see what youre saying. i didnt specifically choose the quiet boot option, as far as i can see it doesnt even exist on this specific distro, but i will try that. maybe its installed automatically, and i was unaware of it. thank you ill let you know if that works. just out of curiousity, how would i go about NOT selecting quiet boot? ok well i was able to do a -v. right before it dies the last line is something like cannot find/load ioarchitecturefamily.kext. with busratio=16 turned on, it gives a line of text and then it says CPU Halted.
11. Completely Black Screen, Post Installation

im confused. what do you mean by F8? if youre asking me to hit F8 at the chameleon boot screen, i would, but like i said, it doesnt give me time to do anything at all. it literally goes straight from turn on to chameleon and then IMMEDIATELY to the apple logo and then shuts down. no time to hit anything at all. aha
12. Completely Black Screen, Post Installation

ok im going to wipe the hard drive and try a fresh install, because from where im at right now, it wont even boot into the dvd anymore. if i attempt to boot the dvd after the installation has happened, i get sent to the black screen. ill use the diskutil list command to make sure the partition set as active, and ill post a list of which kexts are selected and ill let guys know what happens. thanks for the help so far. ok i have yet to install but i made the partition and then i ran the diskutil list command and this is what i have. /dev/disk0 0. Fdisk_partition_scheme *931 gb disk0 1. Macintosh HD 931 gb disk0s1 i used the fdisk command to the check the partitions. its definitely set as active. ok so SOME success. haha. it installed, and i make it to the chameleon boot screen now, but instead of waiting there for me to select the partition and then optionally enter boot commands, it goes straight to the apple boot logo and then shuts down automatically. it doesnt even stay on the chameleon bootloader long enough for me to enter -v. any ideas guys?
13. Completely Black Screen, Post Installation

thats the problem, i cant even get to the Chameleon bootloader. it goes straight to a black screen with a horizontal flashing cursor. i cant type anything. its almost like the bootloader isnt even getting installed. but ive definitely selected it during installation.
14. well first i guess i should tell you my computer specifications. HP Pavilion Elite 400z Foxconn H-RS780-uATX Motherboard AMD Phenom II x4 Hitachi 1TB hard drive ATI Radeon HD 5450 6 gigs of RAM DDR3-1333 i am using SnowLeo, and after installation it asks to restart computer, and then nothing happens. my computer restarts and i just get a black screen with a flashing cursor. ive tried several different kext configurations, i have AHCI enabled in the BIOS settings. any ideas? bump.
15. Well I just thought I'd let everyone know that 2 problems I had with OSx86 have been solved. With all previous distros I tried I had video and audio problems. I used Leo4all 10.5.2 and 10.5.4, iDeneb 10.5.2, 10.5.4 and 10.5.6, iAtkosv 10.5.1, 10.5.4, 10.5.5 and 10.5.6, Kalyway 10.5.2 and 10.5.4, and Jas 10.5.4 I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ140e intel core duo processor GMA965 intergrated graphics card sigmaltel audio and intel pro-set wireless well I decided Id give iAtkos one more shot and installed 10.5.7 I did not install any video or audio drivers. although I did install the system drivers, such as the SMBIOS ApplePS/2 and some network drivers. well I am happy to say that both my audio and video problems were fixed. initially my laptop was set to 1024x768 with some weird static around the edges. but I then noticed that I had other resolution options, where as on all the other installations I had only the one, even though my native resolution (1280x800) was not present. I used DisplayConfigX that I copied to the disk with Macdrive to create a custom resolution which worked without any more tinkering and I was able to use the Apple System Preferences to set the sound to come through my speakers. Still no wireless luck though haha.
