  1. Asus P5N7A-VM

I am using QUMOX 8Go (4x 2Go) DDR2 PC2-6400 PC2-6300 800MHz memory CL5, timing left on auto. USB needs to be 2.0 as this is all the board will support - USB 3.0 sticks are supposed to be compatible, but .. Your processor is OK for High Sierra. hope this helps...
  2. Asus P5N7A-VM

For the avoidance of doubt, I have gone back and re-installed the latest version of High Sierra 10.13.3 from scratch. Apart from requiring updated versions of LILU and AppleALC, both now at version 1.2.2, and using a mix of Clover 3577 and 4411, it works like a dream. I have updated the file pack at www.pughx2.com/assets/px2/files/p5n7avm.zip to reflect these changes

Hum ! Off hand seems very strange. Just to check, these are the BIOS settings on my machine ASUS PN5&A-VM BIOS settings MAIN Legacy Diskette A-VM [Disabled] STORAGE CONFIGURATION OnBoard IDE [Enabled] S-ATA Controller [Enabled] SATA Mode [AHCI Mode] AHCI DID for LINUX [Disabled] Hard Disk Write Protect [Disabled] IDE Time-out [5] 80Pin Cable Detection [Host] ADVANCED CPU CONFIGURATION Ratio CMOS Setting [Auto] C1E Support [Enabled] CPU TM Function [Enabled] Execute-Disable Bit [Enabled] ONBOARD DEVICES Serial Port [Disabled] Parallel Port [Disabled] USB CONFIGURATION USB Functions [Enabled] USB 2.0 Controller [Enabled] Legacy USB Support [Enabled] USB 2.0 Controller Mode [HiSpeed] POWER ACPI 2.0 Support [Disabled] ACPI APIC Support [Enabled] Assuming that you have followed the instructions fully, and that your BIOS settings match mine, I really don't know what else to suggest.

If you download the file pack from www.pughx2.com/assets/px2/files/p5n7avm.zip you should have all you need

Don't make the same mistake that I did. Upgraded (!) to a Q6600 - neither Sierra nor High Sierra would load. You get the dreaded '+++++++++++++++++' error. It turns out that both require SSE4, not supported by the Q6600 - DOH ! Q9300 on order - will report back NWJ UPDATE: Q9300 received and installed - fixed the problem - all four versions of the OS now working. Note also that the latest version of clover that will boot this board is r3577, also the latest version of Clover is now r4318. I can confirm that the method outlined in the PDF posted above works with a combination of these two versions.

well. that was fun ! I have finally got all versions from 10.10 to 10.13 loaded up onto my machine. Many thanks to chris_rock and martin953 who put me on the right path. A summary of my experience is attached to this post as ASUS P5N7A.pdf hope this will be of some help to others - this might be an old board, but it's a goodie.. Now for a cheap upgrade to a Q6600 with 8GB ram. ASUS P5N7A.pdf

Wow - that was quick, thank-you. My problem actually comes when trying to boot from a Uni** flash drive, so it seems to me that I may need to re-flash the Bios. Any thoughts ?
  8. Asus P5N7A-VM

@martin953 Could you please share the content of your PM to vtec.. as I am experiencing the same problem. Thanks in advance, NWJ

If I were you I would start afresh as the DSDT you will need ( posted above ) is not compatible with Lion. This DSDT should also mean that you don't need to flash the bios - unless you are not using the latest one. The Uni forbidden and Multi forbidden method is your best bet. Good Luck
  10. Asus P5N7A-VM

If it is of any interest I have just installed Yosemite 10.10.2 with no problems using the modified DSDT and Audio kext that I posted above. Audio works - have not tested much else yet. I now have instances of Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion and Yosemite all running on this board. It might be old - but it works (a bit like me, I suppose !)
  11. Status of Unlocker 2.0

First version worked fine for me Thank-you sooooo much NWJ
  12. Asus P5N7A-VM

10.9.2 updated OK - remember to re-apply audio kext
  13. Asus P5N7A-VM

Google is your friend ..... Problem occurs (if it's going to) when you first try to boot from your new OSx installation, but is all explained here Good Luck
  14. Asus P5N7A-VM

DSDT_AppleHDA.zip Finally got sound working by following this guide. I attach the modified DSDT and the required kext in case it might prove useful to someone. NWJ PS updated to 10.9.1 with no problem ! (remember to reapply the appleHDA kext.)
  15. I am happy to confirm that modifying the DSDT as described ( only 1 value to change ) and installing the AppleHDA kext provided gives sound on an Asus P5N7A-VM board with Mavericks ! I am ecstatic ! Many thaks to all those who worked so hard to make this so easy for dumbos like me. NWJ PS I am running 10.9.1 - all working
