    10.5.7 finally

    Updated with no issues! Hooray!
  2. So I have to restore with Beta 3. Anyone else experienced this?
  3. So today I bought a brand new hard drive and I wanted to get my Mac OS install on it right away. I didn't want to have to reinstall on the new HD because I've set up most of my software, so I set about to find a simple route. Pretty much just 3 steps: 1) Prepare the new hard drive This was a new 1TB drive, so I decided to partition it into 3 parts. I used Disk Utility and created a GUID partition which was split into 3 volumes. 2) Use Carbon Copy Cloner to Clone the existing drive. I simply selected my current partition (osx) and copied it over to one of the new volumes (OS X). Once this was done I rebooted. 3) Boot up with iPC 10.5.6 DVD and Install! The trick here is to go into customise, but uncheck all the boxes. This way, nothing is installed except for the boot loader. It went through the motion of installation, rebooted and I was away! That's it! Now I have the new hard drive set up, and the old one still there for when I want to muck around with things like updates. Woohoo!

    Ralink wireless usb utility

Anyone tried the above drivers in 10.5.6? I am suffering the same issue with my RALINK drivers. I'm using a DWA-110 USB adapter from D-Link. Was fine under Windows but now it's really unstable. I think I might go out and buy a PCI adapter that runs out of the box instead. Unless... you guys have any solutions?

    Network Solution for Leopard

My experience with this was to simply unplug the adapter and put it back in and launch the Ralink Utility (or have the Ralink Utility launched beforehand). I'm using a DWA-110. I've found the Ralink drivers to be quite erratic? Connection quality goes up and down a fair bit.
  7. I've got a DWA-110 running on the Ralink 2500 drivers. My wifi connection is extremely erratic. It never completely drops out, but sometimes it seems to get throttled which I noticed that when I was downloading updates earlier I was barely able to surf the internet. Right now I'm test downloading some files on Transmission (relatively well seeded), and their combined speeds are between 50-80kb/s, which is pretty dismal since I used to get 400-500+ speeds on Windows. I know for a fact that this is not due to my internet connection because I tested it on my laptop. Might any of you know what the problem is? I've included screen grabs so you can see what some of my settings are and my network stats. Thanks!

    Shutdown/Poweroff Fix

The openhalt solution worked great for me!
  10. Hi, I still can't get my USB wireless adapter to be automatically detected when I start up. It works if I unplug it and put it back in or if I boot up with -f -x in Darwin. -Solution- Add -f Boot flag in Boot.plist. Found here My Specs: Gigabyte P35-DS3P E6850 2GB of RAM FoxConn 8800GTS 320MB ({censored} to set up) AL899a Audio Mutliple SATA NTFS hard drives (switched from XP) DWA-110 USB Wireless Adapter Running on RT2500 Sleep doesn't work properly either. I can put it to sleep, but can't get it to wake up again. I have read about turning on "Restart Automatically", but that doesn't seem to work for me. I have also tried replacing IOUSBFamily.kext with the 10.5.5 version, but that doesn't work either. Anyone with similar specs managed to figure out those two problems?
  11. So I installed OSX 10.5.6 today. With a little bit of digging around (this forum has been incredibly incredibly useful) I managed to get everything set up and working nicely (somewhat). My Specs: Gigabyte P35-DS3P E6850 2GB of RAM (suspiciously detected to be running at a bus speed of 1.33Ghz) FoxConn 8800GTS 320MB ({censored} to set up) AL899a Audio Mutliple SATA NTFS hard drives (switched from XP) DWA-110 USB Wireless Adapter Running on RT2500 My USB adapter works fine. I actually found this out by accident when I unplugged it and plugged it back in again. The only thing is that I have to do that every time I start the computer. Is there any way that I can get it to start automatically? I'm a complete n00b so any help will be greatly appreciated!
