  1. do you have all the CPU features set to enabled or auto? My geekbench 32bit score for a standard clock i7 860 is approx 8000 so something isn't quite right there.
  2. Does anyone have any issues with USB devices not working after a shutdown or restart? My system based on a P55M-UD2 gigabyte board gets itself in a mess after OS X runs. No issues after a restart/shutdown in Windows 7. I have to physically power the system off again, i.e. for a 2nd time after a shutdown for it to work again. I've tried EvoReboot, OSXRestart and No Kext helper. All three work, i.e. shutdown/restart but all 3 have the same issue with the next power on or boot. Any ideas? I've tried all flavours of BIOS too, including one released today F7C, no change:-( Cheers

    it seems any i5/i7 hackintosh gets kernel panics with PCI based atheros ethernet devices. I have a dlink DWA547 and it does the exact same thing. The same hardware and system disk did not KP when it was running with a P45 chipset and E8400 processor. Upgraded to an i7 and now it crashes. Setting Hyperthreading off and CPUS=1 stops it crashing but screws performance. Suspect we need 10.6.3 to fix it as the i7 iMacs have a different build of OSX than 10.6.2

    i'm just looking into this also, its a RT2870 chipset so should work with the drivers from ralink. http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3 You might have to update the device id's in theplist to get it to work mind.
  5. Hi Rekursor, No overclocking at all yet. I'm running the 32bit kernel but they do work in 32/64 since 10.6.2. Its driving me mental but thats why we build hackintoshs for challenges like these i guess!
  6. Hi guys, thanks for the thread! great stuff I've upgraded my E8400 system into an UD2/i7 860 pretty easily with this info. Everything working speedstep/sleep wise etc. Geekbench is at approx 8000 on the standard clock speeds which is about average i guess but still twice teh score the E8400 got. Anyway, i have a couple of little issues, wonder if anyone has seen similar. 1) On boot into the chameleon boot loader and the initial stages of booting the system it appears that CPU is running at around 1Mhz! everything is very slow, booting into safe mode takes an age as the kexts loadings is about 1 a second. Plus the Chameleon menu is just dog slow. Once past the initial boot stage (i.e. when the screen clears on a -v boot) its fine. No real porblem but odd. 2) I have a Dlink atheros based wirless card that causes Kernel panics if its connected. This worked fine on the e8400 system, (same boot disk, just transferred over). I'm guessing that it must be a dsdt issue as i've just modded Tony's UD2 file. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks again everyone in this thread!

    Ahh good idea, i'll try remote desktop-ing in also - can you do that when you boot with the screen connected from power on? There must be something in the fact that my build from the Macbook allows a disconnect/reconnect to work. I'll look into that i think.... Please let me know if you get anywhere!

    Hi guys, I've got my hands on a real Apple GT120 (9500) and an LED Cinema Display I'm having a problem i think related to the NVCAP string but i can't fathom why it's not fully working. If i boot without the EFI string i get software more, no CI/QE as expected but all works fine. If i put in the EFI string then I get a blank screen once the driver fires up. If I boot with the monitor disconnected then plug it in after boot then it works. This is from a OSX built from 10.5.0 retail disk. I have a 2nd recovery partition built with 10.5.6 from a new Alu. Macbook. That does similar in that if i leave the monitor connected i get a blank screen but in this case i can unplug it and reconnect it works fine from then on - no need to boot with the screen disconnected. Any ideas? According to NVFlash and ioreg the NVCAP is 0400000000000300000000000000000700000000

    Hey The King, thanks for this, brilliant stuff - i've been struggling to get my ATI3850 HDMI audio working and now i know why! Any chance you can post the Kext for that please to compare with may hacked together equivalent? I also have an ALC1200 on the MB (OSX sees 888) so the combination of the two should be similar in implementation to yours. Cheers!
  10. Radeon HD3850 & built in Audio?

    Has anyone got the Realtek device that is inbuilt into the Radeons working in OSX? I've tried to do a codec dump from ubuntu but not much comes out other than a Realtek ALC6xx device. I have an ATI HD3850 running and I want to use the HDMI connection to plug into my TV but with the Audio also going over the HDMI connection. To do that i must disable the onboard sound card (ALC1200 in this case) and use the ATI built in option. Anyone got that working???? Cheers
  11. Well i got it working! Updated to latest BIOS and everything suddenly started to happen. Now running vanilla 10.5.5 with an ATI3850 while I wait for X4500. Everything else spot on other than ALC1200 sound which i'll have a go at today. Xbenches at just under 200 with an E8400 at standard speeds :-) Rock and Roll!
  12. Hi all, Looking for some help - I bought a G43 asus motherboard (P5QL-EM) based on stupidity and the fact that i was expecting Apple to sport this chipset in upcoming Minis/Macbooks. Seeing as they haven't appeared, and 10.5.5 doesn't include anything new i'm trying to get it working using Cameleon and a vanilla install using a real mac to build the boot disk. I think that i'm getting the same issues as the P45's where they need a bios update that hacks the DSDT config to get it to work.   14. OSX86 on Intel P45 chipset?

    Has anyone tried this against a board with the G43 chipset? My ASUS P5QL-EM is pretty much doing the same thing. Any chance of a helpful soul checking to see whether this has a BIOS capable of modding? Asus P5QL-EM 0406 Bios

    Ok, here goes... May be easier to go with the majority of removing the EFI partition if you are unsure Open up the terminal, type sudo -e /dev/rdisk0 <enter pw> print <this gives you a list of the partitions> setpid 1 <type 0 to disable> quit exit Thats it, the efi partition is now disabled. Vista installed with no errors from here with me.
