    QE_CI Exotic Patch

Okay, I just deleted a lot of questions I had because I found the issue. It seems the cache wasn't cleared/rebuilt correctly. I tried installing using Kext Wizard and also running the cache clearing and permission repair there, but no go. Also did ”touch” in the Extensions folder using Terminal. What I had to do was to run Kext Utility (when booted into the OS X install from another computer that didn't require the patched ATI kexts). Whatever Kext Utility did solved my boot issues after installing the patched ATI kexts.
  2. True. If it works well, let it be (although I rarely myself can't stay away from updating things just for the sake of it…). Sleep worked fine overnight! Now I just have one problem left – getting iMessage to work (being able to log in) in Yosemite.
  3. Did the mDNS swap (per mnfesq's instructions/download). Now the computer name stays fixed! Let's see how it sleeps overnight… Thanks! Sounded like a clever idea to use sleep watcher otherwise… Isn't it strange that doesn't seem to be working consistently?
  4. Yes! Sleep seems to work fine with the new config.plist. Some selections were different in the Acpi section, and under ”New way” I had nothing selected, while in the config.plist from you there are several. So now everything seems stable! I might give the update a shot – I'll do it for you as a thanks for your help. Will do a backup first of course. Edit: Update to 10.10.1 worked without issues! Edit 2: Noooo!!! Now it happened again! Had the computer sleeping over night and now in the morning I noticed the fans was going (not like crazy, but more than normal) and I couldn't wake – display stayed dark. Caps-lock not lighting up either and that usually means the computer isn't responding. Had to force restart. I did find some stuff in the log showing that things happened during the night (”Wake reason: RTC Alarm” was there like you said you had trouble with): 20/11/14 01:33:19,000 kernel[0]: Wake reason: RTC (Alarm) 20/11/14 01:33:19,000 kernel[0]: RTC: Maintenance 2014/11/20 00:33:17, sleep 2014/11/19 22:45:22 20/11/14 01:33:19,002 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: assertion failed: 14B25: launchd + 160118 [55B9FF23-B298-321A-B776-CF7676586C04]: 0xe 20/11/14 01:33:19,000 kernel[0]: Previous sleep cause: 5 20/11/14 01:33:19,000 kernel[0]: USBF: 3372.424 AppleUSBEHCI: setPowerState - PCI device still has PME status bit set. Falling back to default location. Reason: Won't serialize in _readDictionaryFromJSONData due to nil object Also found this in the log: Attempt to set push wake topics without dark wake enabled: () Shall I try changing the ”darkwake” setting in the ”Boot” section of the config.plist perhaps? I think I had it set to ”darkwake=0” when using the Chameleon boot loader under Mavericks when sleep was stable. But maybe this has more to do with Yosemite? Are you saying that you can have your computer in sleep over night without it problems? I also have this issue with the name of the computer changing (adding a number) all the time, but I guess that's another story (maybe because I started on a fresh install for Yosemite and the router gets confused with my computer name being the same for this installation):… https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6626663?start=0&tstart=0
  5. Okay, I'll look into the sleep problem first. Hmm… now I can't get audio back even if removing the DSDT and running Toleda's audio script again (setting it to ”Audio 1”). After restarting I don't have the audio outputs in System Preeferences > Audio that I did when it was working. :-/ I was thinking – would you mind sharing your config.plist that you have in EFI/EFI/CLOVER? If I'd get that maybe thing will get sorted. I mean, we have the same motherboard. Or maybe you have the config.plist adjusted for your ATI graphics card? Edit: Aha, you already shared it on page 222. Will download that and try (adding my serial no. etc.). Edit 2: Things are again working fine audio wise since I replaced my config.plist with yours. I must have fiddled with something in mine… Will now try test how well sleep works. By the way, have you tried updating to Yosemite 10.10.1? Shouldn't be any problems I guess. Seems to be mostly smaller fixes.
  6. Thanks for getting back to me! I'm almost there, but I have sleep issues. Something happens after the computer has been asleep for a while. It wakes up (by itself) but the screen stays dark and the fans go hard. If I press the power button the fans go down but then after 10 secs or so up again. The only way is to force shut down the computer and then turn it back on again. Anything you recognise? I've tried to add my old DSDT.aml (that was working fine with Chameleon) but I guess that shouldn't be needed? I'm not sure if things get more stable sleep wise with the DSDT, have to try some more. The only kexts I have are FakeSMC.kext, realtekALC.kext, and RealtekRTL81xx.kext Hmm… it seems that adding the DSDT into the mix breaks the audio that was set up by Toledo's script. Maybe just run the script again? Anyway, like you see I'm not there yet. I was having a very stable system with Mavericks and Chameleon (and the DSDT) so I guess it should be possible to achieve the same with Yosemite and Clover. Thanks again for helping out!
  7. Do you recommend doing a standard install of Clover (I have the EX58-UD5 mobo) or do a customized one? Aha, I now see your post above where you show your custom selections: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-yosemitemavericks-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page-222?do=findComment&comment=2076443 Edit: One more question – if I understand correctly I'm supposed to install Clover on the EFI partition of the OS X hard drive I want to boot from? How do I reach the EFI partition – using diskutil in the Terminal? Hmm… now I downloaded and ran Clover Configurator.app which has a tool called ”Mount EFI” – pretty neat. So, now when I have the EFI partition mounted I guess that's where I'm supposed to install Clover? Right now I have it installed on the partition where OS X is – can I just delete ”boot, EFI and EFI-Backups” from there to remove clover from that partition? Also, what about the ”Apple_Boot Recovery HD” seen when doing ”distil list”, shall I just leave that be? Thanks for helping out! Edit 2: Okay, now I found the option ”Install Clover in the ESP” when customising the Clover installation: ”Install Clover in the ESP (EFI System Partition) of the target volume Need to format ESP as Fat32 on Mac first.”

    QE_CI Exotic Patch

Thanks! I guess this has to be done when booted from the drive or can I do it from another computer in some way? I mean, the problem is I can't start the up from the drive on the computer I want to use it with. Aha, maybe I can do it from the computer where it works to start up (the one with the Nvidia graphics) and use the terminal command on that to make sure the modified ATI kexsts are loaded? Thanks again for trying to help me with this!

    QE_CI Exotic Patch

Hmm… I know this isn't a support forum, but for some reason I have problems with the kexts on a fresh install of OS X 10.9.4 that I'm trying to use with a MacPro1.1 (and modified boot.efi). The OS X installation boots fine on a MacPro1.1 with an Nvidia graphics card, but on one with a Radeon 4890 these modified kexts installed using Kext Wizard the computer doesn't seem to load properly – I get no video. I've tried using ”Repair Permissions” and ”Rebuild cache” in Kext Wizard and I've also tried the using ”sudo touch” on /System/Library/Extensions in the Terminal.app Still no go. Any suggestions?

    CMOS Resets by AppleRTC.kext

Yes, that's probably it. I have the same problem.
  12. I've never seen this before, but now when launching the new version of the game Heroes of Newerth it kin of flickers and locks up the computer. I managed to force quit once and all seems fine, but when launching Safari I got corrupt graphics, and again a lockup (had to force restart). GTX 670 graphics. Like I said, no other game has done this. Guess it's a driver issue? Still, why don't any other game cause this? In the log: 2012-10-09 01:24:13,000 kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error 2012-10-09 01:24:13,000 kernel[0]: 0000006e 2012-10-09 01:24:13,000 kernel[0]: 00200000 0000a097 00000000 00000000 2012-10-09 01:24:13,000 kernel[0]: 00000000 0000130c 00000203 00000010 2012-10-09 01:24:13,000 kernel[0]: 00000000 00000000 00000000 2012-10-09 01:24:13,000 kernel[0]: 00000000 00000000 2012-10-09 01:24:13,000 kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error
  13. Does it? On my GTX 670 in Mountain Lion I get around 40-60 FPS with Starcraft 2 (version 1.5) graphics settings set to max. If I boot into Windows I get not far from double the frames per second: 60-100 FPS. Damn OS X and it's abysmal game performance compared to Windows. It's too bad not even the games that are available for OS X performs well. Oh, well it's just too reboot into Windows I guess..

    Best videocard for Mountain Lion?

How did you do it? Does OOB mean ”out of the box”, i.e. no special Kernel Extensions needed? Will it work in 10.7.5 too, with the drivers there? I prefere to not use an un-released OS (even if I know Mountain Lion is pretty close).
  15. Hmm so it's not enough to run digital dreamer's script to put the two .xml files within AppleHDA.kext? This seemed to work in 10.7 at least. The modified one in post 1 item 14E, isn't that older than the one I had working with Lion 10.7? Maybe I should try to get hold of that version instead. Hmm... I noticed that if I wait long enough at boot I get ”Resetting IOCatalogue”, but here it seems to stop. At least I waited 20 minutes at this stage and it didn't change.
