  3. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Taruga, Thank you so much for your efforts! But unfortunately, the patcher does not seem to work for my Asus U5F SoundMax 1986a. The volume icon appears, but the slider could not be adjusted. And no sound output could be heard at all either from the internal speaker or from the jacks. Attached kindly please find the logs and info of my system. Many Thanks! Best Regards, Sunny adi1986a.tar.gz
  4. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Hi TheMaxx32000, Is your new laptop also utilizing ICH7 HD audio? Could you let me know how you managed to have sound output with AppleHDA? 'Cause I've tried several versions of Taruga's AppleHDA.mpkg, the kexts loaded, but not even the volume slide icon appeared. However, the volume icon appeared when I use the AppleAzalia instead. Nevertheless, both methods had no sound output... So, please kindly help us to solve the AD1986 HD audio problem! Many Thanks! Sunny
  5. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Dear Skippyretard, Thank you for your new Azalia driver, but the result seems to be the same; still no sound heard at all either from the speaker or other ports. Though, the sound level icon does show up. Btw, my SoundMax HD audio info is as follows, in case needed: Dev: 11D4 Ven: 1986 ICH7 Dev: 27D8 Ven: 8086 Thanks! Sunny soundmax.zip
  6. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Hi Skippyretard, After testing either with your ALC883Audio.mpkg or AzaliaAudio.pkg, it still does not seem to work on my SoundMax HD audio laptop. However, after modifying AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist with <string>0x10ec0880</string> -- to -- <string>0x11d41986</string>, the sound level icon appears after reboot; but still no sound output at all. Attached kindly please find the "ioreg -l" output respectively. Please help me to solve the sound output problem. Many Thanks! Sunny ioreg.zip
  7. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Hi Skippyretard, Sorry, but does it work for SoundMax HD audio (1986a) on ICH7 too? Kindly please advise. Many Thanks! Sunny
  8. Hi DenizenX, Sorry, but could you be more specific how you solved the driver loading issue? 'Cause I've tried to use both IO80211Family from the Jas 10.4.7 and the one from 10.4.5 update, none could be successfully loaded during boot. Kindly please advise which kext(s) should I replace or modify? Many Thanks! Sunny
  9. [How To] ALC882 Sound

Dear Experts, Does this method works for SoundMax 1986a HD Audio too? Kindly please help! Thanks in advance!
  10. Hi Mac-Nipulate, Please help! I have SoundMAX 1986A too, but still no volume slider and sound output even after following your guides. My system seems to be using HD audio (AppleHDA.kext loaded) with HD audio hub "Ven: 8086, Dev: 27D8". And from windows, I could see "Ven: 11D4, Dev: 1986", which is supposed to be the SoundMAX 1986A chip, right? I've tried several combinations with AppleAC97Audio, AppleHDA, and AppleAzaliaAudio; unfortunately, any of them could be loaded manually, but when I reboot the system, none of them except AppleHDA loaded automatically. Btw, below please find excerpted output from "ioreg -l". Kindly please help me find a solution to fix the audio problem. 11. SoundMax AD198x - AC97 Sound

Hi Lucose, I've tried your method and AppleAC97CodecAD198x.kext was loaded successfully via kextload -v AppleAC97CodecAD198x.kext. Also, your next steps were followed: rm Extensions.kextcache kextcache -k Extensions However, it did not get automatically loaded after reboot, and thus no sound still. (Nothing displayed with "kextstat | grep -i ac97".) Do you have any idea what I could do to fix this? Btw, my audio chip is AD1986a too. Thanks!
  12. Looking forward to the success! 1) $10 2) 0x25728086 3) 865G 4) 1440x900, OpenGL, Quartz 2D and Quartz Extreme Thanks!
