  1. I am running 10.12.4 on an ASRock Z97 Anniversary with an Intel Core i7 4790. I have no output device and consequently no sound. According to ASRock I should be using Realtek ALC 887 but according to DCPIManager I have this: 0x80860C0C, 0x18490C0C, 0x80862807, 0x0000, Intel (Unknown) 0x80868CA0, 0x18497662, 0x10EC0662, 0x0101, Realtek ALC662v2. I am new to Hackintosh so hope that's enough info for someone to very kindly offer me some help

  4. Hi Rod,thanks for the reply. I had already decided that the GPT option was not viable and had tried all sorts of linux emergency disks. But did find this solution in the forum; zuza View Member Profile Add as Friend Send Message Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts ipsmenu.register( "post-member-497648", '', '', '' ); InsanelyMac Protégé Nov 6 2007, 11:13 PM Post #26 Group: Members Posts: 6 Joined: 3-November 07 Member No.: 149,092 Ok, I've started with a 15 GB partition (on a 400GB disk). In Vista I've created a second partition but did not format it. From Leopard I've erased the newly created partition and then used: diskutil list that listed back 2 partitions with the identifiers: disk1s1 and disk1s2 (in other cases might be disk0...) Now, sudo diskutil mergePartitions "Journaled HFS+" New disk1s1 disk1s2 did the trick (New is the name, it will actually be ignored). The first partition will be kept intact and the second one will be "merged" therefore you will loose all contents (I made sure it was empty before running the merge just in case).
  5. Hi, My Dell E520 originally came installed with Vista. I have since added XP and OSX 10.5.6 to make it a triple boot machine using MBR I have now deleted XP from the PC and want to give the space over to OSX by increasing the partition size of the 10.5.6 installation. I’m sure somebody here has done it successfully – I have looked via google for pointers on this and come up with more questions than I started with ;-) Could someone point me in the direction of software that will help me do this job ? TIA
  6. iATKOS v.1.0i cannot install “still waiting for root service” Hi I have been trying to install iATKOS v.1.0i using a DVD and the install gets as far as a kind of stop/no entry sign so I tried using –v after a couple of failed attempts and got as far as “still waiting for root service” I am supposing that there must be something I’m missing here as I have only this afternoon installed onto another machine of mine with no issues at all using this same DVD. The machine that I really need the OS on is a Dell Dimension E520 with Vista on the C: patition, Recovery on the D: partition. I have freed up 35GB of unallocated space on the disk for this install. Here is what Belarc says about the machine in question... any help with this most greatfully appreciated.
