  1. i have the same hardware setup as you. I've been beating my head against a wall for awhile. I've got a 10.6.2 build and have pretty much everything working. Graphics work, sleep, bluetooth, wifi, etc. The only problem i seem to be having (aside from my audio not really changing all that much between level adjustments) is that my USB is only 1.1. I've tried everything i can find and can't get it to give me 2.0. I was thinking the easiest thing would be to just zip your extras folder, but any help you can provide is appreciated.
  2. So, what is the latest list of working/ not working components? Using the kexts from the beginning of this forum - sleep and Graphics fail to work for me. Does anyone have everything working for 10.6.2 and want to share their extras folder? Eh? Eh?

Any word on this? After using these kexts i do not output to dual monitors via VGA and DVI. Also, when you say close the lid (like in windows) to output to a second monitor - the system sleeps and wakes up and sleeps....etc. This is with 10.6.2 and the latest sleep enabler. Does anyone have dual monitors working? It seems the kexts cited earlier that have this working and the pictures attached in the zip of the extra and extensions folder outputing to dual monitors might not actually work. from the readme " 13. docking station works (I have two 22inch acers lcds) So my setup is Laptop is docked and the VGA port on the docking station goes into a matrix DualHead2GO witch splits it into two DVI outputs running into the monitors. In the pictures you'll see my setup along with the resolution I'm running in."

Still no dual monitors from the dock with the laptop closed, right?

I don't think so. I think OSX is seeing the NVM 160 perfectly. If i had to guess, i'd say it is a limitation of the ClamshellDisplay.kext not properly disabling the monitor when it closes (because the only reason i can figure the monitor disables when i close the lid is because the system is sleeping)

I don't think changing the combination will change anything. I think the issue comes down to the fact that our graphics card can only drive two monitors at any given time (windows or OSX). In windows, we can close the lid, and windows disables that monitor and allows us to drive to externally. In OSX, we close the lid and it sleeps - so we run Insomnia to prevent that, and the monitor never disables. We need to get OSX to either a) wake from sleep with a mouse and keyboard(which normal macs can do - for this very purpose) or get it to stop displaying to the internal monitor, thereby freeing it up to go to the 2nd monitor.

I'm pretty sure i have speed step working....my 9 cell gets me somewhere around 5 hours of life in OSX. There is a SL compile of Insomnia, and i have gotten it to work - but the problem remains, it still outputs to the INTERNAL display, even with the lid closed.

I've got 10.6.1 and have the same setup as others earlier in the forum. I can do dual screens with the internal screen up, but i have 2 external monitors connected to my dock at work that i'd rather use. If you go with the extra folder that ponjop posted earlier, you can sleep and have the trackpad, wireless, et al working just fine. I haven't found too much info floating out there about doing this - and i'm surprised that more people don't want to output 2 monitors with their internal one closed. The one forum that i did find that had done it, had done it through EFI Strings - which is effectively what we're doing. (Chameleon RC3 w/ Graphics Detect enabled)

After some tinkering, i still can't get Dual Displays with the lid closed working. If i try from boot, the system shows the desktop loading for a moment, then sleeps. From sleep, it cannot be woken by keyboard or mouse no matter how many times i try. Anyone have any success with this or have any ideas?

Sounds directly related to the AppleIntelCpuManagement.kext File. Did you rebuild that extensions.mkext file? Use the Kext Utility and drag the extensions folder to the program, and make sure that you delete the old one prior to that. After running the utility you should find an extensions.mkext in your extra folder.

Grab ponjop's extra folder(earlier in this form, maybe 2 pages back) and basically take it's contents and put it where your own are presently. That SHOULD be all the more you need to do (except editing his UUID out and putting your own in the SMBIOS.plist and UUID.Kext's info.plist. Use the utility i referenced earlier and build a new mkext. That is the basic setup i have right now on my SL partition (presently in 7 because i need to be able to output dual monitors for work)

If after mounting it isn't showing, i wouldn't loose any sleep over it. Just install to your mac directory. Uhm, why try this if you already have sleep working? What is ispci? and to find your vendor and prod ids just boot into windows. Right click My Computer -> click manage -> device manager -> click on the device you're interested in -> right click -> properties -> Details tab -> click drop down menu ->click hardware IDs. ta'da.

It seems like clamshelldisplay.kext is used more for sleeping the system than anything else.I can't seem to find too many people who want to close the lid and then output to dual monitors.

As long as you made those partitions and created that EFI partition, you're fine. If you're not sure or know you didn't make it - i would install to the default Mac partition. There are alot of guides for Command line Cham install, but i haven't found the need for them - the RC2 installer works just fine.

you should just have to mount the partition. Search Spotlight for Disk utility, see if another drive is detected that looks something like disk0s2 and right click that and say mount.
