  1. [GUIDE] Chameleon 2 RAID - More complete tutorial

Thanks for helping me out. Everything is working now. My Root boot.plist was the one with the efi string in it so I just put a vanilla one in the root and a modified the 2 on the Boot OSX volumes. Running noticeably faster now. Have 2 500GB striped. Getting 250.13 Xbench and 8554 geekbench scores!
  2. [GUIDE] Chameleon 2 RAID - More complete tutorial

Thanks for this. Everything seems to be working on except my Video. How do I get my video card working? I have a PNY 8600GT 256MB. Before I used EFIStudio to add the correct EFI String but now that doesn't seem to be working. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Is there a way to boot to raid 0 without modifing or deleting the original kexts?
  4. I have a p5q deluxe motherboard with sil5723 raid. I set it up to raid 0 in the bios. My sata is set to AHCI. I have a 3rd hard drive with my osx install on it and I can see the Raid drive in OSX. The problem is it is not formatted and when I try to format it with hfs+ I get an error. If I try to format it with Fat32 it then works. My plan is once I can get it to format correctly is to use super duper and copy my working osx image onto it.
  5. After about a month of messing with my system and countless reinstalls and fixes. I now have a system that is rock solid. It has been over a week without any issues what so ever. I would like to thank RoberT_XeS as his thread helped me a lot in getting everything working. Here is my exact hardware: P5Q Deluxe Motherboard PNY 256MB GeForce 8600GT Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66ghz OC to 3.41ghz 4GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 1066 RAM 2 Seagate 500GB Hard Drives 1 LG Sata DVD Burner Netgear WG111v2 802.11g wireless adapter This guide is intended for those who want to run OSX only. This guide does not show you how to dual boot with Windows. Step 1: Downloads: You need to get Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6 Retail and burn it to a Dual Layer DVD. And this file: http://rapidshare.com/files/213781967/OSX86_Stuff.zip Step 2: You need to flash your BIOS with a modified BIOS. This is the one I used: 1611_BIOS_Asus_P5Q_Deluxe_for_MAC_OS_X___all_OS__incl._by_Juzzi..ROM.zip Its included in the OSX86 Stuff.zip. You want to put that file along with OSX86B.CMO onto a flash drive or burn it to a CD. When you start your computer hit Delete to enter the BIOS. Goto Tools and then Click Asus EZ Flash 2. From here load the 1611 BIOS. Then Reboot. Now Go back into the BIOS. Go to Tools and select the ASUS O.C Utility. From here load the OSX86B.CMO That's It! Your BIOS is ready to go! Step 3: Install OSX Now open the OSX86 Stuff.zip that you downloaded and extract the Generic.iso. Burn that iso to a CD. Put that CD into your hackintosh and boot from it. ( you may need to set the CDROM to be the first boot device) Once it loads hit enter then take that CD out of the drive and replace it with the OSX Retail DVD DL. Let it spin up and then Hit ENTER. It should now load the OSX Setup page. Next Install OSX. ( You May Need to Partition your drive) Once that is installed put the Boot CD in the Drive again and boot to it. Once it loads Hit Enter. Then type in 80 and select your OSX Installation. It should then load OS X. Step 4: Once you are in OS X. Open up the OSX86 Stuff and install Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk.dmg Next Open up OSX86Tools. Click Install Kexts and install the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext. This will get your sound working! Next Open up the Asus_P5Q_RX_AHCIFix.1.3.cVaD.dmg.Zip in OSX86 Stuff. Extract it and install the package. Remove the boot cd and Reboot. You should now be able to boot into OS X without the use of the boot CD! Once in OS X again run the 9f23installer.pkg found in OSx86 Stuff. Once installed open up EFIStufio and add your Graphics card. Reboot. Once in OS X again. Your video card should now be installed and working. You can now go into OSX86Tools and enable Quartz GL. You can now run the software updates and update your OS X. Step 5: Increase Stability. If you are getting the following error in your logs "GetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35" You need to do the following: This error was all over my logs and was causing applications to hang and shutdown and restart to now work all the time. Go to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and edit NetworkInterfaces.plist and add a new dict with the IEEE80211 config.. <dict> <key>BSD Name</key> <string>en3</string> <key>IOBuiltin</key> <false/> <key>IOInterfaceType</key> <integer>6</integer> <key>IOInterfaceUnit</key> <integer>3</integer> <key>IOLocation</key> <string></string> <key>IOMACAddress</key> <data> ABbPoF5V </data> <key>IOPathMatch</key> <string>IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/P0P3@1C,2/ IOPCI2PCIBridge/pci14e4,4311@0/AirPort_Brcm43xx/IO80211Interface</string> <key>SCNetworkInterfaceType</key> <string>IEEE80211</string> </dict> Save and reboot... If once you open up Itunes or Quicktime and your mouse cursor is jumpy you need to do the following: In a Terminal window, type: sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext.BAK (Keep everything on the same line). You will probably need to type your password before the command will complete. That's pretty much it. Hope this helps. As of now I am not using my onboard ethernet since its to far away from my router so I do not have drivers/kexts for those on this page at the moment. I am going to work on getting my ethernet ports working within the next couple of days and will post results here. I just threw this together in about 20min but I think everything is there. I will be working on this post in the next couple of day. I will be adding screenshots and organizing it more. Any questions, comments or suggestions please post.
