  1. Beats me but it's pretty painless to back up your files/programs then do a clean install with Hazards Snow Leopard then apple's combo update 10.6.4 and then the Legacy Kernel 10.6.4 patch. Simplest installation I've done to date and I've done quite a few Hackintoshs thus far. Like I said, see the wiki entry for these boards. Piece of cake installation for SL. Love mine.
  2. You guys do know that Snow Leopard installs/runs perfectly on this motherboard? Hazards distro. All pertinent details listed for this board in the OSX86 wiki.
  3. Damn that sux. You're probably right about the Ati video card. I checked the OSX86 wiki and every listing for these P5K series boards shows folks using Nvidia cards. Much luck to you in trying to sort it. I'm loving this SL build. It's very stable and enjoyable to use. Only one problem I'm experiencing and it's not that big of a deal but.. I've got a two yr old TEAC card reader. It works but the computer won't go into Sleep with the reader connected so I've been opening the case and plugging it in only when I need to use it. Kind of a pita but I suppose there could be worse issues.
  4. I have this motherboard with 4 Gigs of Ram and an Nvidia 9500GT 1GB graphics card. I tried to install the Hazard version of SL a couple times but gave up... After reading your post I popped in a spare drive I had and followed your info and voila, am now writing this from the SL box. Followed instructions for the 10.6.4 combo update and got that in as well. The only thing I did differently due to my graphics card was choose NVenabler. The ethernet drivers RTL8139 from 2006 on the Realtek website worked just fine. (edit) I discovered that if you don't choose any Network the right drivers get installed OOB so that's easier. I also added a generic 4 port usb 2.0 card and it works but only with some of my usb devices but I'm fine with that. My magic jack phone even works with this build which is cool. On my AMD iDeneb box it wouldn't run. Thanks so much for posting which items to choose on the install. I've done many Hackintosh PC's to date but this one was the smoothest and I'm really pleased with it. Some pics for a better visual. I reinstalled and changed the name of the boot drive which is why it's different among the pictures.
  5. {GUIDE} AMD and Retial Snow Leopard 10.6.4

    Ditto that! Thx
  6. Did you even click on the wiki link I gave you? Like I said, I entered all the details of the install in that wiki. Following it SHOULD get you a good install if you have the GA-MA-790X-UD4 motherboard.
  7. Hoodad I got your pm and rather than keep things private, thought I'd post here. I added my install info to the wiki if you want to take a look here's the link and scroll down to the Gigabyte board. I never had the issues you are having. I am not dual booting as I installed the OSX on it's own Sata drive. Other than what I outlined in the wiki I don't have any experience to offer. Here's the link and I hope you are able to work it out! http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...10.5.8#Gigabyte
  8. Well I messed up my XP/Kalyway dual boot so am now dual booting xp and windows 7. Tried to reinstall Kalyway again but for some reason it wouldn't take this time around. Oh well. Have iDeneb 10.5.8 lite on a drive on the desktop PC so still am able to get my hackintosh fix on as needed.
  9. Thank you very much for the response. Yes I knew I would have to do a clean install of 7, just wasn't sure how to set it up so I would not lose my hackintosh. I will dl easy bcd tonight and give this a shot. Will post back if I get stuck.
  10. 70+ views and not one person can tell me how to do this? I've used the search and can't find anything pertinent so please, somebody point me in the right direction.
  11. Need a little help with this one. I've got a Dell laptop dual booting XP Pro and Kalyway 10.5.1. Everything working ok but I now wish to replace XP with Windows 7 and would like to know how to do this without hosing OSX and the dual boot setup. Any detailed help would be most appreciated. Thanks very much!
  12. GA-MA770-UD3 What Version needed

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...10.5.6#Gigabyte Check the Wiki above for similar Gigabyte boards. The iDeneb packages always work well on my AMD machines.
  13. Timo please read what I said in my previous post. I followed the info in that thread and used kext helper.
  14. Which distro are you trying? I have found the iDeneb to work best with this board. I do think there was a little more to it than just that kext but iirc I got basic sound and microphone to work by following this thread and downloading the file from the link posted by member prototype_sx. I also used kext helper like they suggested in the thread. Hope this helps you too.
  15. Can't offer much help with IPC, but will tell u I think I tried every flavor of Hackintosh on this computer and the only one I could get to work was iDeneb. 10.5.6 thru 10.5.8 lite all installed great for me. U might want to give it a shot? I put all the nec. info in the osx86 wiki. Board is a GA-MA790X-UD4.
