  1. Installing on Dell Inspiron 530

Hey, lets keep our kittens in their proper threads here, boys - snow leopard should not be discussed in this 10.5 dedicated thread. thanks. have you installed chameleon RC2 or 3? it fixes those issues, plus many more. some other boards i have used will end up saying that the computer is indeed a Mac Pro, or just Mac, and sometimes MacMini
  2. Snow Leopard on Inspiron 530

man, you gotta get a 16 gb thumb drive or partition one of you external HDDs and install your I530 boot OS on it to rescue you. its about 35 bucks to get a 16 gb without shopping online. goodluck buddy
  3. Snow Leopard on Inspiron 530

noogen, i am glad you asked me those questions i am surprised that SL takes at least 5 times longer to boot than 10.5.8 i do not know how to see the kernal bitrate i am running at, i have seen this topic of conversation quite a bit and don't understand it. efi, kernal, 32 or 64, i have no idea at all. i am sure i can research it
  4. Snow Leopard on Inspiron 530

Ok, so I have SL Running flawlessly, after a totally KP free installation process and i am left with only one problem. FLASH VIDEOS FREEZE on hulu or youtube. big problem all around the community, I hope i will find a solution soon. anyway, check my signature, good luck to all you I530 users and please try and help find a cure for this flash video problem. Ok, all i had to do was repair my permissions and the HDAenabler and intelHSA were repaired, which in turn fixed my video problem. snow leopard all the way, baby!!!
  5. Snow Leopard on Inspiron 530

hello fellow i530 users. I have had much success with Leopard by using iPC10.5.5 and am now happy to say that i have gotten through the installer and sucsesfully am running Snow Leopard. I have read every message in this thread and I have chosen to go the non-retail route and used universal ISO 3.5 SL. google to find I tried the retail method and my drives were never detected. I wanted so badly to have a retail install, but its ok. right off the top I will say that I did not try a usb installation method, i used the DVD and it only worked when bios was set to AHCI/RAID the installer ran for me flawlessly. of course I now face issues with what i understand to be something wrong with my dsdt or whatever in my bootlist. i am very new to this but am happy to provide my information. However, I will not be needing to find any audio solution because i am running a firewire based DAW box that runs off of the manufacturers software - sorry. once i get SL running with QE graphics and Networking, I will reply back. I will also have to research this whole dstd or whatever its called so that my bios quits resetting.
  6. Broadcom bcm43xx wireless driver [beta]

I read every page of this thread and came to my own conclusion as to what version chip was made by which manufacturer for my Belkin F5D7000 VERSION 3.000. it is more than likely that iPC 10.5.6 FINAL will have the drivers you need (most likely broadcom will work) within the installer, as you may have read there might be a solution you can use involving the FAMILY801 (or whatever it is called) kext, but i cannot provide any details about that. what i can tell you is that Belkin F5D7000 has various chip makers, i believe there are several versions of the card - 1., 2., 3., 7., 8., i really dont know all of them. i did some research and found RALINK RT61XX was an included chipset manufacturer for VERSION 3.!!!! i worked on this for about a wekk and then found this driver. it doesnt work as a native AirPort Card but it works. http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Macintosh.html last driver, install it - go to network preferences pane, verify connection (it will probably register as an ethernet port en1 restart and start safari - LEOPARD WILL CONNECT TO WHATEVER SIGNAL IT CAN PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS DRIVER SO THAT WE CAN USE THE CARD AS AN AIRPORT CARD!!! GOOD LUCK
  7. Installing on Dell Inspiron 530

ok osx86 tools is doing a good job of installing kexts but until i find a way to connect to the internet - i have no way of updating and installing drivers via osx86 downloader. i got the leo to restart and shut down succesfully but not without leaving the inspiron sitting there with its system fan and lights still on. any relations to this? also, my video is incredibly sluggish, albeit at dual dvi @ 1920x1200 resolution . . . if anyone at all is trying to install iPC, please let me know what solutions and problems you are having. thanks!
  8. Installing on Dell Inspiron 530

i now realize that iPC did not load itunes 8 . . . wtf? that sucks
  9. Installing on Dell Inspiron 530

iPC has been an incredibly smooth installation process. you and i have different video card and wireless, but i would think you could find what you need exactly in this thread. i basically dont have anything working right now except the fact that leo is being displayed on both my monitors at optimum res, which is very nice. but i have yet to try the powerdown patch and i need to change my wireless card, and i have to test my firewire. what do you mean round hub thingy that came with wireless? i dont understand all in all i am incredibly impressed with this distro. let me know how yours goes.
  10. Installing on Dell Inspiron 530

ok so after three different iso downloads (ideneb 1.4, boot 132 generic and finlly iPC 10.5.5) iPC finally worked. i only chose two install options, the nvinject default and the intel sata driver i now would like to use osx86tools to activate my wireless card, i have one cheap ass sydnet or whatever that brand is. but anyway - ideally i would like to find a boot 132 method that works, so for no dice. thanks for all your help. ok so after three different iso downloads (ideneb 1.4, boot 132 generic and finlly iPC 10.5.5) iPC finally worked. i only chose two install options, the nvinject default and the intel sata driver i now would like to use osx86tools to activate my wireless card, i have one cheap ass sydnet or whatever that brand is. but anyway - ideally i would like to find a boot 132 method that works, so for no dice. thanks for all your help.
  11. Installing on Dell Inspiron 530

I am on that mission. i agree with you on the note of iPC being the only solution that has made any progress for me - i am having trouble with the partitioning - should i select GUID or Master Boot Record? thanks brotha! that is a superb question - i do not care about onboard adio when i have a firewire mixer... i will post reply as soon as i actually get leapord (iPC 10.5.6) properly INSTALLED argh
  12. i am trying to load ideneb 1.4 but my inspiron 530 quad-core says " bios block time out #########" stupid any tips? should i just ditch ideneb and use ipc?
