  1. I just rebuilt my Dell E6400 with Lion. I'm working on a dual-boot with Windows 7 and my bootloader cannot boot into Lion and I'm wondering why. The fun part is when I use my USB drive that has the Chimera 1.7.0 r1394 bootloader, Lion boots just fine from the HD partition. Currently Chimera 1.7.0 r1394 is installed and displays both Win7 and Lion. When I choose Lion, I get the fancy apple logo and it hangs. Verbose says it fails at: apple16x50uartsync2: Detected 16550AF /c /cf FIFO=16 Maxbaud=115200 Above that it states it bugs out about voodoobattery, but then moves on to the above. Originally used ###### to just install Chimera and that didn't work right out of the box Rebuilt the bootloader using ###### and selected UserDST, still no go. I know I'm missing something, since having my USB drive be the bootloader works just fine. I'm currently working on manually editing the chameleon.boot.plist but I'm not sure where or what to remove. I thought the pros would guide me in the right direction. Is there a way to look at the USB bootloaders file and copy that? Where and how can I view it?
  2. Yes you can. I'm running it and I have the same set up. Do a search here as there is a large thread dealing with this laptop. I'm running IRRT (raid) in my bios and it works fine. I'm also using the Win7 boot loader to choose between the OS'es. Only issues are the OS will shut down, but it will not shut down the laptop, and the WIFI doesn't work, Intel. Only the Dell wifi card works. Check out the thread.

Fall_Leaf - You shouldn't need to worrying about IRRT or AHCI. I have OS X installed with my dual boot Vista Latitude E6400 on IRRT. Both os'es see the drive fine. But the reason it's BSOD is dues to an incorrect driver. Go to Dell and get the Intel Matrix Driver for the E-series laptop and install. This will give you both drivers and should let you switch back and forth like an OEM install. But I like IRRT and keep it there.

AppleNbox - how did you get the wifi working? I'm running a 5300 but it is very close to the the 5100.

    [Install] Dell Latitude E6400 E6500

Hi guys, mac noob here but I'm a big hardware guy on the PC side. I got only three questions... 1. My installs for mac 10.5 are failing. The install you go through the welcome screen and installing. But it looks like at 99% finished, it says the install failed. I have tried Kalyway, iAtkos, and now iDeneb. Kaly is the only one that gives me some type of real error message, but I don't remember it. Something about a kernel or a bad cd. Could all my iso be bad? seems farfetched. 2. What kernel and other custom items do we add for the install? I don't think that was mentioned in the first post about the guide. Maybe I'm missing a key part and it's forcing a fail. 3. Has anyone installed using IRRT for the hard drive bios? I have my vista setup with IRRT and I cannot switch back and forth. I can hack the ini to ACHI, but I rather keep it at IRRT. This is the least of my concerns. I just rather see MAC load correctly. *EDIT* I got my E6400 to boot with IRRT. I don't think I can switch back a forth, but I don't mind. Thanks guys...
