  2. Sorry, that was a promotion over the summer that ended about two weeks before the "It's Showtime" event where Apple released the upgraded iPods and 2nd generation iPod nanos. They still do, however, have a free printer deal with the purchase of a new computer (see http://store.apple.com/AppleStore/WebObjec...8.7.3.5.1.2.1.1 for more information) that runs through January 22.
  3. Not sure, since I use a TV-tuner card on my PC in order to watch TV and play XBOX. I would assume that it's possible to use it as a TV monitor since it works at 1280x800 resolution when I plug it into the wrong DVI port on my graphics card (it requires dual-link DVI to get to 2560x1600). I don't have a cable box to test with, but as long as your box has a DVI output, I would venture to guess that it should work.
  4. I bought a 30" right after the price drop when the Mac Pro was announced, and I can't recommend it more highly. I use it for video editing, a HUGE workspace, and a screen for playing DVDs, TV, and XBOX360. If you can afford it, go for it... you won't be disappointed.
  5. When I was browsing the Apple Store this evening, I noticed something different on the home page around the "Essentials" area on the center column. I googled for the cached copy of store.apple.com (which was dated Dec 14), and, sure enough, I found that the iSight link was missing from the current main page... apparently this had just changed in the past 24 hours! It turns out that the iSight is, in fact, absent from the entire product index now! Does this mean that Apple is revamping the iSight and planning to release the next version sometime soon?
  6. Which education discount did you use and which model did you buy? My college student discount shows MBP prices at $1,799/$2,299/$2,599, respectively, so I'm interested in seeing how you managed a larger percent off.
  7. Working great for my GeForce 7800GT and ACD 30" display... running at 2560x1600 resolution and looking wonderful! One thing to note, however, is that it won't boot to the GUI when I have both my 7800gt cards in the computer. I use SLI in Windows XP, but I guess that freaks out the loader. It recognizes that I have two installed, but it hangs shortly afterward when booting in Darwin. Great work!
