1. I got this process to work ONCE on my Acer Aspire One A150, but could not get it working again. I think it doesn't work due to the disabler.kext, but DON'T DELETE that kext or you will be reinstalling. Removing it in 10.5.5 makes it impossible to boot even in safe mode. However, this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=175391 did work for me, using 10.5.7. It has been consistent and much more stable than the process in this thread. YMMV.
2. Has anyone found a way to deal with the: MAC revision 0xffff is not supported! error? I read that: If you get the message MAC revision 0xffff is not supported! it means that some other module, likely ath_hal and/or ath_pci took over your card. Any way to prevent this? I can't get by step 4!
3. I can add some input here. I have this up and running on a D250 after several days of trying various things. Hopefully this can assist others to streamline their process. I wanted a dual boot win 7/OSX machine. Initially I left my win7 install in place and created a separate partition in windows for my OSX install. I could not get 10.5.7 going with Atheros 7 although I tried a couple of times. I wanted that due to a problem I had with getting gma950 working with qe enabled. In any event, the machine just restarted without even being able to see why, even booting in -x -v mode. But enough of that as this is supposed to be a snow leopard thread. I originally installed this with nawcom CD preboot and at least the very basics seemed to work. I think sound was working and definitely the ethernet connection was working on install. This was consistent. I was using a 10.6.0 snow leopard DVD with nawcom. However, I tried for two days to get Quartz Extreme to work, and could not, nor could I get the graphics out of 800x600 mode. I was about to give up when I noted that my dell mini 10v had the same graphics hardware and it was running quartz extreme. I had used netbootmaker on that so I tried to do this again on my Aspire1. Unfortunately, netbookmaker kicked me out due to not having the disk formatted in guid. Since I had spent several days on this, and really wanted quartz extreme, I pulled out a 500gb blank hard drive and replaced the hard drive. Then I formatted it with disk utilities as a GUID disk, and installed OSX 10.6 using netbootmaker .83rc5. I got quartz extreme working right away. That was great. Then I installed Win7 and that installed, but I lost my OSX, so I had to install OSX after Win7, so I reinstalled win7. I installed easybcd as well. I then reinstalled OSX using netbookmaker and got it working. I had to go back into windows and make windows active using the recovery portion of the install CD DISKPART LIST DISK Select Disk 0 List Partition Select Partition (Win7 Partition #) Active EXIT Then I had to repair the startup disk with win7 recovery. This allowed me to boot back into windows and use easyBCD adding the OSX as MBR (NOT the recommended EFI) I am back into OSX and can dual boot. I then used netbookinstaller .84 and it did not seem to work that well. I upgraded to 10.6.1, but don't want to go further. All attempts to upgrade to 10.6.2 failed with my nawcom install, likely due to the Atom incompatibility. However, unlike with the nawcom CD install, I don't have ethernet. I see that there is some kexts for the ethernet port here: http://code.google.com/p/iats/ I will try them. I do not have wifi with the netboot, or with nawcom, and I don't think I have sound right now with the netbookinstaller. I still have some work to do, but thought I would post my progress for others to see. Hopefully this helps someone. EDIT: The kext for Snow leopard at the bottom for L1C worked. I also got the internal mic working using the steps in post #3 of this thread. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t=#entry1320927
4. Samsung R Series Notebooks

After you switch to the retail CD, hit -x and -v. (Boot in safe/verbose mode) That should get you to the install screen. Also, to get the wirelesss to work, after upgrading to 10.6.5 I followed this advice and it worked: Adam.co.jp Nov 12 2010, 08:32 AM The super lazy/quick way is to edit the 10.6.5 IO80211Family.kext IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros21.kext/Contents/Info.plist and add this string <string>pci168c,2b</string> even quicker just download the attachment. Install to /E/E or /S/L/E rebuild mkext then reboot and enjoy I used ##### to rebuild the mkext.
5. Samsung R Series Notebooks

I used Nawcom, which requires a retail DVD. You use the nawcom to get the retail to install. See the nawcom site for details. #####, which does the same thing, would NOT work for me. If you don't know what kexts are, you likely need to step away from the machine. Bios needs to be set to ACHI manual.

I will try that and report back. The message I am getting with ##### is: "Unable to find driver for this platform: ACPI". EDIT: I can now boot into OSX in safe mode. I was able to install using Nawcom MOD CD but have not figured out how to upgrade ot 10.6.5. #####? EDIT2: I think I have success. I used the NawCOM MOD CD to get it installed, then I had to boot AGAIN from the NawCOM CD using the new operating system AND -X on boot (second boot from the OSX installation) and then go into Boot.plist in the extras folder and change Legacy_kernel to MACH_kernel, because I kept getting could not find legacy_kernel errors. Then I installed the YUKON2 ethernet kext. Then I ran #####, did an upgrade to 10.6.5 and installed ##### ONLY addiing voodooaudio 2.5.6. Then I installed IO80211Family kext for wireless. Haven't checked everything but it is booting fine.
7. Samsung R Series Notebooks

I have a R530 With nvidia 310 Graphics. I could NOT get ##### to work although I have a retail dvd and would prefer to use it. It would come up with an error that appeared to be related to ACHI, although I had this manually enabled. If anyone has clear instructions on how to use ##### with this particular model, I would love to hear about it. I am trying Iatkos s3 v2. I would also appreciate if someone would provide the particular options that should be set or removed to install. I have tried it twice and both times, when I am about 3/4 done, the machine reboots. Hopefully I can get this to go. EDIT: Okay...this appears to install although it looks like a bunch is still waiting to install. It isn't. So when it reboots with about 25% remaining, it IS installed. However after installing Iatkos I cannot restart the computer. I get the grey screen of death fairly quickly. I will try again tonight but if anyone has any insight or guidance it would be most appreciated.
8. Dell Vostro V13?

I would be interested in hearing others experiences with the v13. Looks like a nice little unit. Do all v13 configurations work with OSX?
9. I got mine to work with the RT257x drivers found here: F5d7050 v.3.xxxx http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3
10. I got my Belkin F5d7050 v.3.xxx to work with the RT157 file found here. Go to applications and hit the wake RalinkUI and then hit the application to launch the utility. http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3
11. This fixed the problem for me! Thanks.
12. After some scary reboots, hard restarts and endless spinning wheels....that appears to have worked. Thanks for taking the time. Much appreciated.
13. I can't get this to work on my Vostro 1400 running 10.5.4. Here is the hardware information: 03:01.1 SD Host controller [0805]: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter [1180:0822] (rev 22) 03:01.2 System peripheral [0880]: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C843 MMC Host Controller [1180:0843] (rev 12) 03:01.3 System peripheral [0880]: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter [1180:0592] (rev 12) 03:01.4 System peripheral [0880]: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller [1180:0852] (rev 12) This seems to be exactly the same as everyone elses that does work. I have tried and re-tried all of the kexts, read this thread several times, re-done my disk permissions tried a variety of sd cards and it just doesn't seem to work. Anyone got any advice?
14. Dell Vostro 1400 Celeron 540

Working well. I got hardware acceleration and quartz extreme working with my X3100 video following the process, again, at this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86600 For noobs like me, the problem with the X3100 and the dell is the the dell appears to put the monitor into sleep mode right away, and that is why you get a blank screen. So that sleep display information is extremely important. I tried an upgrade to 10.5.7 and it did not work. Install gave me the grey reboot your computer screen after about 30%. I am pretty happy with 10.5.4, so I might stay here until things stabilize.
15. 10.5.7 has been released

On my Dell Vostro Celeron 540 with X3100, it crashed at 30% upgrading from Iatkos 4.0i. Can't get past 10.5.4 on this machine: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=165803
