  1. Get this version (from here or the link floordance posted), it works on all 10.6.x systems, but needs a kernel boot flag to be specified - that's the pmVersion. When updating you can disable the extension to avoid KP by setting pmVersion=0 at boot time, after that edit your com.apple.Boot.plist and add pmVersion=21 (for 10.6.5, etc.) under "Kernel Flags". An explaination of this flag can be found in the comments in the link above.
  2. Installed directly through Software Update, everything went fine (YMMV, attempt only on vanilla installations). Hardware: Intel Q9400 Gigabyte EP45-DS3L nVidia GeForce 9800GT kexts: fakesmc NullCPUPM OSXRestart SleepEnabler (pmVersion=21)

    released Update to 10.6.4

Gigabyte EP45-DS3L + Core2 Quad Q9400 + GeForce 9800GT - Everything's fine, except SleepEnabler (boot with pmVersion=0 if you've missed it for the time being if it KP's). Sound's out too, but that's my fault, time to update the DSDT...
