  1. I have an HP Elitebook 2530p running SL 10.6.2 only things not working are the sound and onboard wireless. The onboard card is an Intel 5100. I have an Apple wireless mini pci-e card from my apple tv that I would like to use. If I put it in place of the 5100 I get the HP error 104 at post. There is a wwan slot that is unused. Can I use that for the apple tv card? When I put it in there it boots but OS X does not detect it. In the bios it doesnt show the FCCID for the WWan (shows not installed) Is there something I need to do to enable it?

    Atheros Network Drivers

So I was working fine until I upgraded to 10.5.8. Now it shows no Airport card installed and the mac address is empty. The system still sees the card but it says the driver is not installed. I tried reinstalling the driver but still have the same problem. Anyone else upgrade? AR5001

  7. Anyone else having problems with the latest update for Safari? I installed it the other day and it asked me to reboot, upon rebooting I was able to login fine but once at the "desktop" the top bar is invisible and I can only see shadows of the wireless / sound icons. My button bar on the bottom shows but I can not run any apps. Safari shows as a text file? Is there anyway to uninstall the update? or force a reinstall incase something failed? When I boot into "safe" mode "-x" The safari icon is correct but I still have the same problems

Core 2 Duo showing as Single Core Processor

I am now having the same problem. I have been running fine for about two weeks now. Used OSx86tools to modify the "about this mac" as it was showing unknown. But I was getting the dual cpu meter on the top bar. after rebooting it gave me some garbage on the about this mac screen so I used osx86tools again to default it. Now it shows 1.67 Intel Core Solo. When I have a Centrino Duo. Activity monitor shows two different charts at the bottom so I assume it is still using both cores. I tried the fix above but there was no CPU string in that file.

    Broadcom 570x and 575x

Installed the driver to my IBM 8808-94u. w/ Broadcom BCM5787 14e4:169b modifyed the info adding my device / ven. then modifying the driver using a hexeditor. Device was found on reboot. status shows as yellow. if I manually configure an IP it goes to green but still no connection. My mac address is all 00's. When I try to do: sudo ifconfig en0 ether (Mac address of device) it returns: ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): network is down. I have link lights on the nic. Any Ideas? Did some more testing. When I switch the en0 to off it shows the cable is connected but you computer does not have an IP address

WORKING BCM57XX DRIVER for OS X

I am having the same issue. My mac address is all 00's. When I try to do: sudo ifconfig en0 ether (Mac address of device) it returns: ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): network is down. I used the kext from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...4987&st=780 modifying the info adding my device / ven. then modifying the driver using a hexeditor.
  12. My USB ports work but only if I have the devices plugged in when I turn on my laptop. If I plug in a device it shows up under System profiler but shows as not configured. In this case it is a Corsair USB thumb drive. My USB cdrom drive also does this. Any ideas? Running 10.5.7

    Atheros AR5001 - Airport won't turn on

    any where I should look?
  15. Okay got a Lenovo X60 running OS-X 10.5.7 using a Cisco PCMCIA wireless card that uses the Atheros AR5001. After installing the PCMCIA drivers the card is detected and shows the drivers are installed. (Installed drivers using OSX86Tools). Everything looks okay but "Airport" will not turn on. Can't start it from the status bar or from the System Preferences screen. When I go to advanced it shows the MAC address of the card as the Airport ID. Any ideas? More info incase it is needed. Under system profiler: Airport card: Type: AirPort Extreme Locale: Unknown Firmware: 0.1.12 Current Network: AirPort is currently turned off. Under PCI Cards: It lists 3 that say network : two types are Ethernet Controller and both have the drivers installed. The other says "other network controller" and the driver is not installed. The status light on the card blinks green about every 5 seconds.
