  1. Just an update to the above. The new drivers didn't fix any problems for me but see below. Posted this in the other exceptions thread: I think I've solved my random Channel Exceptions. I updated the bios on my EP45T-UD3LR from F5 to F10. Not sure why that fixed things but I've been crash free for 3 days now during lots of gaming and regular use. Going to keep on testing to make sure. I was also using a F5 specific DSDT and am now using a F10 bios specific one. I'm not knowledged enough on DSDT hacking to understand the differences between the two DSDTs but I can post them here if someone wants to take a look.

  3. The identical Gigabyte GTX650 card to the one I own is in the 10.8.2 HCL. I'm not sure this HCL talk is really helping even if you mean well by it. Some people are having trouble and others aren't with the exact same cards. The card itself doesn't seem to matter as nearly three generations of nvidia cards are being reported as problematic in this thread.
  4. I have that in my chameleon boot already and I'm still getting exceptions. I've tried just about everything on my end here. The 10.8.2 supplemental update drivers still throw exceptions. I've swapped the GTS250 for a GTX650 and then a GTX650ti and still the same issues. I've also tried switching to a different DSDT, adding the card under AGPM and setting my smbios to MacPro5,1 and a host of other little things. Nothing seems to make a difference at all. The problem with finding a card in the HCL is that the cards affected here ARE in the HCL. They're working great for others but not us.
  5. Apple has released a special 10.8.2 update for the new retina macbooks as well as other 2012 macs. They seem to come with some brand new Nvidia drivers and are supposed to have reliability fixes. More information here: http://netkas.org/?p=1227 I've had these installed since last night and so far no exceptions with a fair amount of use and some gaming. I'll update in a few days or if I run into any exception but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is a solution.
  6. Wierd thing is that with the GTS250 the OS seems relatively stable but I can't play any sort of game for more than a minute or two without a crash. The GTX650 can play games just fine for hours but I'll still get an exception and lockup using the OS about once a day. Seems to be completely random. I'm also finding it strange that the larger hackintosh doesn't seem to be having this problem or we'd see more threads on it. Can everyone thats having this issue post their specs? Maybe there is another component we all have in common. Mine: Motherboard: Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR CPU: Core2Quad Video: GTS250 or GTX650 Running: 10.8.2, MacPro 5,1 smbios, and ALC8xxHDA.kext, AppleRTC_Patched_Lion.kext, and JMicronATA.kext in the Extras folder.
  7. I tried the test on a new GTX650 and was able to get through. Haven't tried the GTS250 yet. Interesting thing though: I bought this GTX650 hoping to get a nice upgrade and solve these exceptions and while I'm not getting them nearly as often I am still getting about one exception and lock up a day. Same error messages most of the time: kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error I've tried with and without AGPM and nVidia official drivers and not without success. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for the exceptions.
  8. I updated to 10.8.2 and now i'm not getting them during regular use but I can't play a game without getting one every 5 minutes or so. Checked the temp of the GPU and its normal, clock speeds, etc are all normal as well.
  9. Has anyone been able to work around these? I've been getting them enough that my hackintosh is unusable right now.
  10. I removed the APGM kext as well and so far no crashes just using the OS but minecraft will only last about 5 minutes before I get a channel error and the game locks. Everything worked so well in Lion how bizarre.
  11. I'm also getting these freezes pretty badly on 10.8.1 with a GTS250. Always a NVDA Channel Exception error and then corrupted graphics and finally a full graphics freeze up. This seems to happen randomly using the OS. Never had any problems at all on Lion.
  12. This driver works great on 10.5.5 for 3D and general usage but I'm noticing some really slow video decoding when I got fullscreen in Quicktime. Anyone else noticing this?

    iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 Released!

What a fantastic release. My last two installs were JaS 10.4.8 and Zephyroth 10.5.2. Both were eventually fine but required a lot of hacking around with drivers and such. This release has been almost flawless so far. Only thing I had to install was the AppleAzaliaAudio drivers to get sound, and updated ATI 1950GT drivers for 10.5.5. Amazing. Short list for my specs: AMD Athlon X2 4000+ MCP55 nForce based motherboard ATI 1950GT Video
  14. I use my Hackintosh day in and out as my primary desktop. It initially started as something neat to play around with since I also have a Macbook and like OSX but I found myself booting into Windows less and less. Now I really only reboot to play a game.
  15. Reporting a great install. The nForce drivers on the disk did indeed have the SAM Multimedia error for SATA DVD drives so I had to replace it with the latest MeDevil driver and reburn the iso, but after that everything went great. The system is stable, boots fast, and everything works. Seems much faster and less buggy than the 10.5.1 install. Important specs: Asus M2N-E Motherboard (MCP55) 3Com Etherlink XL Network (Native) ATI Radeon 1950GT
