    Snow on Dell E1505

    http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218056-help-snow-leopard-on-dell-inspiron-e1505/ read the second post
  2. OK I think I found out how to get things working! 1) Install OSX Snow Leopard using the SnowLeo for Mac OSX86 disc. (Under system install, make sure you click Rosetta, X11 and Tools) 2) During step one DO NOT Install any keyboard and trackpad drivers and DO NOT pick any kernels. Install your video driver (Intel) but this will be replaced a few steps later 3) Get a USB keyboard and Mouse and setup your user profile 4) Load up your lappy (laptop) with the iATKOS v7 10.5.6 disc and install the Video (Intel), keyboard and trackpad drivers 5) Reboot and enjoy 6) FYI I got the SD slot working using the Dell Post Installer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A ) OK I have WiFi working but through my Netgear USB adapter. Let's be honest the internal WiFi card sucks hiney! B ) I fixed Quartz Extreme by installing the files from this link http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=67806 LOGIN AS ROOT USER USE THE KEXT HELPER TO INSTALL THE FILES Well... that's my update for now.
  3. UPDATE!! You can use your iATKOS disc but ONLY for kexts and patches (...granted I did not try every patch). Whatever you do do not use the iATKOS disc to replace your kernel. You will end up with an instant Kernel Panic.
  4. I also have a e1505 and I pretty much got snow leopard running with the exception of the random shut down notice issue I have (see my thread for more info) I used a disc called "SnowLeo for Mac OSX86" Everything needed to get the system running is on that disc. I dont have bluetooth running on my unit but aside from that and my resolution being stuck as 1024X768 everything else, hardware wise works. Give it a shot and maybe you might be able to figure something out.
  5. Hey everyone, I just installed 10.6 to my Dell Inspiron e1505 and I keep getting these damned shut down notices after things like a network file transfer or multiple windows being opened while moving files around or a Growl or Adium transition and even got it once while installing my wifi app until I went into root mode. Honestly I'm at my wits end and I'm really not afraid to say I'm seconds from crying. I just spent all of yesterday trying to figure out the right combo of options to even get this damn install to run. Everything (except flash but, that's another story) works perfectly except the random crashes. Obviously I can have the unit running long enough to perform what needs to be done so if someone is willing to walk me through this, I will greatly appreciate it. I guess the best place to start is by posting up hardware and kext info. I can use OSX86 tools to generate a hardware list but I totally forgot hot to generate a kext list. BTW if it helps, I used "SnowLeo for Mac OSX86" as my install disc. OK, here is a TON of info. iATKOS 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 - A Few Issues

I'm sorry... The dumb Dell website isnt exactly helpful when it comes to finding specs. Should I just post what it says in my "Apple System Profiler"?

    iATKOS 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 - A Few Issues

    Any suggestions?
  10. I just updated to 10..5.8 and I'm still having a few issues. I'm going to list them below 1) Crossover will not open. Under 10.5.7 I would at least get the error message asking me if I want to open the program again (granted it still would not open) but under 10.5.8 the top bar will change to show that crossover is opening then the program closes out and the top bar reverts back to the finder options. 2) Adobe Flash options are not click-able. In other words, when I enter a chat room I can not change my camera option because nothing in the options box works. 3) Not exactly related but if there's someone who knows about running OSX on a Dell Inspiron E1505, may you please create youtube tutorials on the following... Getting the Wi-Fi to work, enabling Quartz Extreme and getting the dual core to work. Sorry but Im just not so good with tutorials when it comes to terminal commands. 4) NEW Issue: After updating iAtkos 10.5.7 to 10.5.8, the Disc drive now has this weird glitch where I can insert a disc and as long as I'm doing something with that disc (that keeps the disc spinning) like watching a movie or browsing files, the Computer pics up on the fact that the disc is in the drive and I can still eject the disc BUT, when I let the disc rest in the drive for a while and then try to eject it later, the computer acts like the disc is non existent. I cant even drag the icon to the trash to eject the disc. 5) Lastly, thank you all for your help! OK... Im going to give you all my specs just in case anyone wants or needs my tech specs. I'm running 10.5.8 on a Dell E1501 Inspiron laptop ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Ports and Connectors -- - Audio - microphone connector, stereo headphone/speakers connector - IEEE 1394a - 4-pin serial connector - Mini-Card (not working in OSX Help with this would be nice too) - one Type IIIA Mini-Card slot - Modem: RJ-11 port - Network adapter: RJ-45 port - S-video TV-out - 7-pin mini-DIN connector (optional adapter cable(s) with S/PDIF, S-video, composite video, and component video connectors) -USB: four 4-pin USB 2.0-compliant connectors - Video: 15-hole connector -- Communications -- - Modem:Type v.92 56K MDC Controller - 10/100 Ethernet LAN on system board - Wireless Network adapter (internal PCI-e Mini-Card WLAN or WWAN support and Bluetooth® wireless technology support) -- Audio -- - Intel High-Definition Audio - Audio type: two-channel high-definition audio codec - Audio controller: Sigmatel STAC9200 Codec -Stereo conversion: 24-bit (analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog) -Internal: Intel High Definition Audio -External: microphone-in connector, stereo headphones/speakers connector -Speaker: two 4-ohm speakers -Internal speaker amplifier: 1-W channel into 4 ohms -- Video -- - Video type: integrated on system board - Video controller: Intel 945 GM - Video memory: up to 128 MB of shared memory (with 256 MB of system memory) or 224 MB of shared memory (with 512 MB of system memory) -- LCD interface -- - LVDS - TV support - NTSC or PAL in S-video, composite, and component modes -Video type: discrete video card - Video controller: ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 or X1400 or nVidia GeForce Go 7300 - Video memory: 64 MB (X1300) or 128 MB (X1400 or GeForce Go 7300) -- Data bus-- - PCI Express X16 - LCD interface - LVDS - TV support - NTSC or PAL in S-video, composite, and component modes Edit: OK, I shortened my Spec list. Cant use Crossover

I installed iATKOS 10.5.7 onto my Dell E1505 laptop last week and I finally got around to installing Crossover but I'm having one MAJOR problem. I can install it but it wont stay open. Is anyone else having this problem?
  13. I just installed iAtkos 10.5.7 yesterday morning and while most of my issues I have found solutions for I still have a issue with webcam sites. When the flash window pops up, asking me if I would like to allow access to my cam or not, I cant click the yes button. I click over it multiple times and, nothing. I was wondering if anyone haves the same issue or if I should simply just run the flash installer?

OSx freezes when mounting DMG file

I have the same issue. I'm on kernel 0.9.7 I just found a workaround. Save your dmg files to a USB flash stick and mount your dmg file from there. Skip the verifying part and it will work. Im installing my apps now
