  1. From Testdisk, I can see a small FAT32 partition and a HFS+. Both cannot be mounted and when scanned using Testdisk, it says my 80GB harddisk is bigger than it is(120GB+ or some terabytes) From Disk Utility from the DVD, there's a unknown partition and it cannot be mounted, verified or anything. When booted from the harddisk, it boots until the Apple logo and then just hang there. Some symbol appear just above the Apple logo right before it hangs and stays there. I've searched this forum and found a similar problem. A guy manage to copy data from the HFS+ partition using GParted from Fedora Live CD. I downloaded it and tried GParted on it. However, it still cannot be mounted anyhow I tried. I cannot solve this problem and also cannot copy my data from it. What do I do?
  2. Most 100% hardware here support only stereo. Well, that's not good enough to get 100%. I've been searching around for 5.1 surround support since I don't want to use USB soundcard. Going through this topic, I've listed down motherboards with onboard 5.1 support through the Audio MIDI thingy. Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Gigabyte P965-DS4 Asrock 775Dual-VSTA Foxconn P9657AA-8KS2H Asus P3-PH4C Gigabyte P35-DS3L - maybe Now, most of these mobos don't even boot up using vanilla kernel since they are based on P965 chipset. P965 + ALC88X = WIN? I seriously need a 5.1 capable system but investing in these "old" hardware without even vanilla kernel support makes it not a very good investment. Forum user "thestevo" has developed for the 775Dual-VSTA to make it easy to install. The wiki link is here. My question is is it good to get this board for the 5.1 but skip on future expansion. Will newer updates broke it? There's a lot of fixes in 10.5.2 AFAIK.
