    AppleALC — dynamic AppleHDA patching

Yes, I have Kaby Lake, but it isn't a 200 chipset. I've tried also with the fix for 200-series chipset with the same result (also the script with fail as it doesn't detect a 200-series mainboard). And yes I have Lilu in the same folder: kextstat | grep -i lilu 26 2 0xffffff7f833b7000 0x38000 0x38000 as.vit9696.Lilu (1.1.1) 68AA14C1-7F48-3786-91C0-9484956C55B3 <7 5 4 3 2 1> I'll try the codeccommander and report back. thanks Edit: I've tried the ALC298 from https://github.com/insanelydeepak/Patched-AppleHDA-for-Mac-OS-Sierra-10.12and I get the exact same behavior that I get with AppleALC throught CLOVER. Edit2: More info: the jack detection works, if I plug my headphones the output will change from Speakers to Headphones. I've also compiled the latest github (1.1.2) with the same results, and after reading through more wikis I also tried layout-id 28. Nothing changes. About the CodecCommander it seems that it is fixing issues after sleep, I have no sound even after a cold reboot.

    AppleALC — dynamic AppleHDA patching

Hi, I'm trying to get sound working in Alienware 13 R3. It has an ALC298 that seems that is working for other people using AppleALC and layout-id 13. Setting that layout-id and using AppleALC I'm able to get the device detected, and the mic working, I also get a volume slider and the device appears in the system report. But whenever I try to play anything the app won't progress. It seems that the audio is unable to be streamed through the device, and just block the app. I've tried different output configurations (16bit, 24bit, 44100, 48000, etc) using the midi control app, but was unable to make it work. Also tried layout-ids 1, 2, 3 and 11 and with all of them I didn't get any device. I'm in OSX 10.12.5, with AppleALC 1.1.1 and I'm injecting the layout id through DSDT patching (also tried through clover). Running the audio_codecdetect command I get: Onboard audio codec Device: Not supported Realtek: 0x10ec0298 Name: Realtek ALC298 Audio ID: Not supported Current Audio ID: 13 (valid: 1, 2, or 3) Any idea?? Thanks

Do you have working C-states with this configuration? I mean does the AppleLPC kext loads correctly? Regards,

[GUIDE] OS X Lion on ThinkPad W520

@nukedeath: Hello, what did you do to install 10.7.4? If I use the combo updater and patch the relevant extensions, but when booting it just hangs after loading the extensions, the last one being VoodooBattery (If I remove that, the result is the same, and the last message is about the wireless interface). Any clue? Regards, EDIT: I fixed it just repeating the expected steps, it seems that I've not patchet de RTC kext in the right way, and that was blocking the boot process. No everything is working with 10.7.4. So now I have a W520 triple booting without problems, but I've ordered a Retina Macbook Pro... need to try the real thing :-D

[GUIDE] OS X Lion on ThinkPad W520

Sorry for the late reply, I've been on holidays without internet access. As you've already pointed out video out is linked only to the nvidia card, but anyway I usually don't need both video out and battery life. I've tried to use the AppleHDA patched by joshhh but I'm getting: Sound assertion "false == codecFound" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 1449 goto handler Sound assertion "0 == pathMap_aDriverInstance" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 2037 goto Exit Sound assertion "0 != createAudioEngines ( fPathMap_aDriverInstance )" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 207 goto Exit Sound assertion "false == me->completeStart ()" failed in AppleHDADriver at line 996 goto Exit even after patching the DSDT. I'm using the T510 appleHDA from this post http://www.insanelym...howtopic=274218 any clue? EDIT: Fixed using Joshhh version in this same post :-D ... google too much ... What about 10.7.4? I'm thinking on upgrading, as the only thing preventing me was the sound not working with VoodooHDA, is it working with patched AppleHDA ?? One more thing I tried revogirl's script to generate SSDT trying to optimize battery life, but I'm getting a panic with an error in the stepper building. I'll check because I think that my own DSDT already includes the SSDT Regards

[GUIDE] OS X Lion on ThinkPad W520

After some work and some more googling and experimenting I finally got a perfect W520 Book Pro :-D, everything is working, even optimus. Well sort of, I have two DSDT, one with intel + disabled nvidia (about 8 hours of battery life) and the other with nvidia as primary (changing BIOS to discrete only) that gives about 3 hours. I've followed this guide with little additions, for example to get trackpoint working I need to install VoodooPS2 removing all under plugins and adding there the ThinkpadUltraNav.kext. For switching off the nvidia and getting no heat under normal use I modify the DSDT moving the part inside the _PS3 of the nvidia card (discarding the first if) under other Method() and calling this method after initializing the duallink and after the WAK method. I've attached both of my DSDT the W520_optimus.dsl is the one I use usually, it works with optimus in the BIOS and just use the integrated intel video and switch off the nvidia (as right now there is no way to use optimus under OSX, although it could change with the patch for the MBPR just released), if you need the nvidia card you should change in the BIOS to discrete only and use the other W520_discrete.dsl (DSDT=/Extra/W520_discrete.aml). I've attached the .dsl so be sure that it match your configuration, I have the 2820QM and the Quadro 2000M. You could check the differences with your own, to compile them just use the iasl included with OSX. Regards! W520_DSDTs.zip

[GUIDE] OS X Lion on ThinkPad W520

Hello, I have succesfully installed (the easy way, with iATKOS L2) and after some more customization I got everything working, and I'm in fact running 10.7.4, but the smart battery seems not to be available for 10.7.4. Also I have a problem with the keyboard, I'm using voodooPS2 with thinkpadUltraNav but the key right of the left shift is not working in the right way, in my Spanish keyboard the < and the º are swapped. I suppose that in an english keyboard the keys would be ` and §. After some googling it seems to be a problem with the VoodooPS2 simulating a 102 keys on a 101 one. Any clue about those problems? Edit: Neither the sound is working (tried voodooHDA 2.7.3), I'm going back to 10.7.3. Regards
  8. Suddenly I remembered that I had not fixed the usb problem with the DSDT but replacing the IOPCIFamily (following a post from Cavalier), I had removed the patched IOPCIFamily when trying to make 10.6.8 works, just recovering it and everything is working again. Perfect setup but C-States, a problem with a QX9300, but anyway great 1920x1200 15" MacBook Pro. I'm moving to a W520 soon, just hope C-States and Sandy Bridge will be easier. Thanks!

[GUIDE] OS X Lion on a ThinkPad W520

I'm thinking of replacing my Dell M4400 (currently triple-booting to Windows7,Ubunut,SnowLeopard) with a Leono W520, what kind of temperature do you get with discrete nvidia? do you have working c-states? I mean it OSX usable on the W520 as a LAPtop :-D or under OSX you can heat a little room with it? Thanks!
  10. Hello, I've been trying to make C-States working on my Dell Precision M4400 + QX9300 for a long time, after following several guides, I've got to the point that have P-States working (quite easy) but I'm unable to make C-States working. Finally after patching the ISAB to LPCB and changing the id with the _DSM method I'm able to make the system load AppleLPC kext at boot although it complains with: ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::registerLPCDriver - WARNING - LPC device initialization failed: C-state power management not initialized I get no message about Parse Error during _CST evaluation, only the "device initialization failed" I'm using the MacBookPro 5,1 smbios.plist and chameleon RC5 without injecting anything. Under /E/E I have ACPIMonitor.kext FakeSMC.kext IntelCPUMonitor.kext IOATAFamily.kext PlatformUUID.kext I get nothing when searching for CST with ioreg -lw0 | grep CST and I have no CSTInfo using SMC Monitor. I have attached my DSDT.aml and my smbios.plist Any idea?? dsdt_smbios.zip
  11. Hello, I've been able to finally upgrade my M4400 to 10.6.8 following the new fixes but I'm having problems with right USB ports, sometimes they are not working. I have confirmed that have the IRQNoFlags fix applied. I have attached my DSDT. Also sleep is not working neither C-States, everything else is working. Any idea for fixing the USB ports? (I have give up on c-states and sleep ) Regards, DSDT_M4400_QX9300.zip
  12. Hello, I would like to know if there is any half mini-pci-express wireless N card supported under 10.6.5 64bits mode. I've been searching through the forums and found no info on it. I would like to get also packet injection but that just in case I could choose. Thanks!
  13. Great, using the info in this thread I have now an almost vanilla Snow Leopard on a Dell Precision M4300. I have undervolted the processor and I'm waiting for C-States. Everything but restart/shutdown and broadcom ethernet is working. To make the Quadro FX360M works I need to change the "NVCAP" and add a "reg" entry to the GFX0 device. The info was get using an injector (NVenabler) and looking at IORegistrExplorer. I am also having similar problems using the DSDT parameter to chameleon RC3, until this is fixed testing new DSDT is really painfull. Once it is solved we could try to get the C-States from the posted real macbook dsdt. I have attched my patched DSDT (undervolting T9300). You could change the title of the post and add the Del Precision M4300, I suppose that for the Latitude D830 and D630 it should work the same way. DSDT.zip
  14. Hello, After many posts, too much google and some vi I get almost as far as I need my triple boot Dell Precision M4300 (Snow Leopard, Windows 7, Debian Testing). Using GPT/MBR Hybrid partition, Chameleon RC3. What is working: Nvidia FX360M (DSDT Injection) Audio (VoodooHDA) Keyboard+Trackpad (VoodooPS2) Wifi Broadcom (Vanilla) Bluetooth Dell TM360 (Vanilla) Sleep (DSDT fix it) Speedstep (DSDT allows vanilla) What is not working: Ethernet (Still waiting for opensource bcm57xx or 64bit compilation) Restart,Shutdown (This is the reason for ALMOST) I really do not understand why the Restart, Shutdown simply does not work. I have tried everything I found, from OpenHalRestart.kext to DSDT Injection. As soon as I start using nvidia card, reboot/shutdown gets disabled. When I restart/shutdown the process goes smoothly until the last, the screen blanks (after killing all procs, syncing disks, etc) and I have to keep pressed the power button in order to shutdown/start. I don't know why but my Dell M65 which has almost the same hardware has restart working (shutdown does the same as my M4300), I only need restart, as I can shutdown after restarting, but I think that shutting down "the hard way" might not be too good for my hardware. Anybody has any other idea? I have attached my DSDT.aml and smbios.plist, with this in /Extra and fakesmc.kext and PlatformUUID.kext in /Extra/Extensions (plus VoodooHDA and VoodooPS2 in its usual location if you want/need them) you can get your Dell Precision M4300 (with a 2.5Ghz T9300 Penryn CPU) run really cool and get Sleep. Please some help with restart ... (I has no hope on ethernet ... *snif*) DSDT.zip
