1. @tkenney65, If you have to reset the CMOS every time you shutdown, I would check and replace the little battery that is on the motherboard. It should not cost you more than a few dollars.
2. @EmSquad56, Thanks for posting your Success story. I also have a GA-EP45-UD3P. I think I have Rev1.1 I did a clean KakeWalk 4.1.1 install and then upgraded to 10.7.2 using the 10.7.2UpdCombo.dmg. All the key bits worked fine (Graphics, LAN, Sound), except Sleep. I downloaded SleepEnabler, copied it into /Extra/Extensions, ran KextUtilities, Rebooted, and tested Sleep. Sleep works like a charm, although I can only wake the machine with the Power button. But this is good enough for me.
3. Acer TravelMate 8572G (or Acer MacBook Pro :) )

Hi, Have a look here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=235523&hl= MakD0n may be able to help you.
4. DSDT Auto-Patcher

Hey MaLdOn, Thank you for all the info. I hope you can help. Attached is the send_me file from my Acer Aspire 5745G-724G64Bnks. I have just done a fresh install of SL10.6.3. and booted with minimal ##### 2.0, which is installed on a 1Gb partition of an SD card. On first boot Bluetooth was working and could use Apple wireless mouse. But bluetooth is not stable. LAN, WiFi and Sound not working. Have previously updated to 10.6.5 and extracted and compiled a DSDT.aml using DSDTSE and have got LAN working but not WiFi. Would appreciate any advice on what patches to make. Thanks. send_me.zip
5. rockingturtle, You rock!!! Great writeup! I will go back and update my system according to your guide. I'm still curious about the onboard wifi card. do you definitely have to replace it? can you tell me the exact model that you replaced with.
6. Hey Dronnoc, I tried installing from the ##### and the #####-GE CD. The #####-GE CD was better, but I had to boot with the -x option, otherwise the system would constantly reboot itself. When I installed with the -x option, the system was able to automatically detect the LAN card and installed the correct ethernet driver. I was also able to get 1366x768 Out of the Box. I installed the 10.6.5 Combo Update and installed #####, but then lost the Ethernet connection and the 1366x768 resolution. The system reverted back to VESA mode. I still have not been able to get the WiFi working. My Snow Leopard Install DVD is the original 10.6.0. Did you use the 10.6.3 install DVD? I would appreciate it you could describe how you got the WiFi working. Would you please list your /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist and your /Extra/Extensions/ folder. Without WiFi, I'm stuck to my desk, which defeats the purpose 'cause I already have a desktop Hack Thanks In Advance.
7. Good i7 Notebook for Hackintoshing

Acer ASPIRE 5745G-724G64Bnks http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/27282 http://www.acer.com.au/acer/product.do?lin...wrAjaxHistory=0 I didn't know a lot about Acers, but since I bought this one I've found out that they make a couple of i7 models of 5745G. The thing that attracted me to this machine was that it has the GT 330M, which I think is the same as the ones used in Apple MacBookPros. The next thing that attracted me was that it had an i7. I was just looking for an i5 machine. The Blu-Ray writer was a bonus. It can dual boot Win7 Home Premium (64bit) and Snow Leopard 10.6.5 (64bit). It's the perfect machine for me cause I still need to run Windows apps occasionally.
8. Realtek ALC271X or Intel HDA?

There is also a lot of information here on hoe to patch AppleHDA.kext: http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=465 I will attempt the tutorial at some stage.
9. Realtek ALC271X or Intel HDA?

Hey Dronnoc, there's a lot of info here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140941 I don't quite understand everything they are talking about but this where I'm investigating.
10. Samsung Netbook

The easiest way to install OSX onto a netbook is to use Meklorts NetbookBootMaker. It already has a kernel for the Atom. Restore an Install DVD onto an 8GB USB stick. Install NetbookBootMaker onto the USB stick. Boot from the USB stick. Install SL onto HDD. Boot from USB stick, but run SL from your HDD. Run NetbookInstaller. Also... have a loot at this article if you want to upgrade to 10.6.5: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=197020
11. Good i7 Notebook for Hackintoshing

Hey Guys, I bought a secondhand Acer Aspire 5745G i7 last weekend. Comes with 4GB RAM nVidia GT330M 1GB Ram Blu-Ray drive 640Gb HDD Currently running 10.6.5 QE/CI works Ethernet & WiFi works Sound works using VoodooHDA, but lots of noise. (I got rid of it). Trackpad: basic functionality. Bluetooth not working
12. Hey Dronnoc, Thanks for the tip. I had real problems trying to install from USB. I will re-install using ##### and #####. I got ethernet working no problems. I downloaded the latest Atheros L1c kext from Kexts.com and installed it using Kext utility. Rebooted and there it was, ethernet was working. I also got trackpad to work to a certain extent. I used MyHack to install the bootloader, but there is an option to customise the installation. You have to include PS2 Keyboard support because the keyboard and trackpad are PS2. Can't do all the swiping actions, but for now, I don't need to use a USB mouse. Hope this helps. BTW. Do you dual boot or have you dispensed with Windows7? Have you had any issues? I have 1 program that I need to run under Windows, and until the Sound issues are fixed, I'll keep using dual boot.
13. Hey Guys, Nice to see some Acer 5735G owners. I picked up a secondhand i7 model last weekend at the computer markets. I'm running 10.6.5. My install was a bit of a hack, but I got dual boot with the original Windows7 Home Premium on MBR. I'm still trying to get WiFi and sound working. Swiping does not work on the trackpad, but at least I've got ethernet working. Quartz Extreme also works. To get full functionality of the GT330M, here's what I did: - Download and install Kext Utility - Download and install the latest version of XCode. I think you need the IOREG program that comes with it. - Download and install DSDTSE; - Run DSDTSE; - Select Tools>Extract DSDT; This will create and display a dsdt.dsl that is specific to your machine. - Click the Compile button on the right hand side panel. (I got 0 errors and a couple of warnings. ignore all this). - When the compile is done, you will have a dsdt.aml file in your dsdt directory. - Rename dsdt.aml to DSDT.aml. (Case matters) - Copy DSDT.aml to /Extra. (Assuming you have installed Chameleon on your HDD. I used MyHack) - Run Kext Utility. This will fix permissions and update the /Extra/Extensions.mkext if necessary. - Edit /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist using TextEdit. - Change the screen resolution to 1366x768x32. It should look like something like this: - Reboot You should new see transparent taskbar at the top of the screen. The next thing I did was download and install the latest nVidia drivers from the nvidia website. You will get an nVidia CUDA icon at the bottom of System Preferences. Double-click on the icon. A window will open and ask you to download the latest driver from nVidia. Now at least I'm running the official video drivers. Haven't tested any programs yet, apart from screensaver Flurry. Hope this helped... Have fun
14. Mac OS X 10.6.4 & FreeBSD 8.1 Dual Boot

I haven't tried this myself, but I believe that Chameleon 2.0-RC4 bootloader has a way to hide certain drives.
15. Medion Akoya E1222

I bought my Medion MultiMedia PC about 8 or 9 years ago. Great machine. Great value. Very compatible with OS X 10.5.x. Have not bothered to upgrade to 10.6.x, but will do when I get some time... just for the exercise. Now I want to get Snow working on the Akoya. I had it working but now it won't book with Snow anymore. Something has broken. Still looking for the Realtek WiFi driver. A netbook without WiFi is not much use. Booted with JoliCloud Linux. Sound, WiFi, Ethernet all work, so the Linux drivers must be able to be ported to OS X.
