  1. Why are you asking me about upgrades to 10.6.1 & 10.6.2 combo?.. if you are using the Distro of my instruction(as my thread title says Hazard 10.6.2)... its a direct install of 10.6.2 - Distro is named exactly like this: Snow Leopard Client Server 10.6.2 SSE2/SSE3 Intel AMD by Hazard If you are not using that distro.. I cannot really help you out... since its obvious my thread is about users using that exact distro.... because it includes all the necessary files that you will need for our motherboard/cpu for 10.6.2(The distro includes necessary modified 10.6.2 kexts). But since you ask about kernel.... AnV 10.2.0 / system kext not only that you will require to need all this below.. so that pretty much the OS to work with our setups Chameleon RC3 PC EFI 10.5 AMD patch ATIATA Realtek R1000 EliotForceLegacyRTC SATA/ATA Legacy AHCI Sata LegacyApplePIIXATA IOATAFamily SATA Fix IOATAFamily Fix *PS2 apple - ONLY CHOOSE THIS IF YOU DON'T HAVE USB MOUSE / KEYBOARD EvOreboot Orange Icon About My Mac Fix SMBiosResolver UUID X11 Since you are doing a very different way of installing Snow compared to using the Distro I instructed.... it seems you were installing 10.6.0 .... well to upgrade to 10.6.2... you will only need to installing the 10.6.2 Combo download from apple.... but before upgrading do exactly like i mentioned on one of the replies of this thread for upgrading to 10.6.3(which will work as well for upgrading to any: 10.6.1, 10.6.2, 10.6.3 & 10.6.4). Thsi below is the copy of my reply to another user which worked for him:
  2. Are you sure you are using the correct Hazard Distro? You must use this one exactly(or else it won't work): Snow Leopard Client Server 10.6.2 SSE2/SSE3 Intel AMD by Hazard it should work with no issues at all.. since my settings on installing customize options & booting arguments work for any AMD CPU setups(i have even tested with my own CPU on 4 different AMD motherboards using my same selections & they all worked). And by the way I have used the same method on someone who had your same cpu 955 C3, mobo & 2gb of ram.. only difference was he had an ATI 5770 as graphic card. The same arguments I provided according to my setup will work for you as well.. now.... I have no clue about your Nvidia card.. I haven't tested yours sorry... but it should work with no issues I assume - I tested a 9800GTX+ & a 250 both worked out of the box.... if QnE is not working.. just follow the part in my guide where i mention this: Afterwards just double click: com.appleBoot.plist Make changes similar to this well inside there just add this string before </dict>: <key>GraphicEnabler</key> <string>yes></string> You may try as well as booting argument adding: -x -v busratio=20 By the way busratio=20.... you may change the number.. try lower numbers 19, 18, 17.. etc just keep testing until one works ---- that busratio thing is what makes our AMD Quadcores work to boot maybe your burned copy of the Distro didn't burn properly... try using on Windows IMGburn(its freeware) & burn the downloaded ISO on the lowest burning speed(I'd suggest 1x or 2x speeds). I'm sorry I can't be much help right now.. I currently do not have Snow installed in my computer, I needed the hard drive :/ .. I'm just writing according to my experiences of using this distro which works perfectly for many AMD & Intel setups. I've just realized... my thread was DOUBLE POSTED on the tutorials on this forum PLEASE SOME MODERATOR MERGE THE LAST REPLIES FROM THIS THREAD WITH THE CORRECT ONE: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1526675
  3. getting QE working on Radeon HD4650

I can assure you that everything you are doing is a bit way too techy & the solution is quite simpler I'd say restart everything again.. install clean & upgrade to 10.6.4 do everything as you did(for all your other hardwares to work) but do not touch anything for the video You would resolve all your issues if you simply went to netkas.org (they are the ones who provide all these many famous kext fixes)... then find their IRC channel address... and inside that IRC (you must have a IRC chat app) there is a Chat Room of HD 4650 - those users in there will help you resolve it - they will give you the necessary files & what to do & also tell you what works and what does not work I wished I could have posted my solution, but I upgraded to CF 5770's & never backed up what i did for the 4650 to work on 10.6.4 *Forgot to say yes you do need Chameleon RC4
  4. Well good you managed on fixing it... odd you needed a bootcd to boot hazards distro... are you sure you downloaded the correct Hazards Distro "Snow Leopard Client Server 10.6.2 SSE2/SSE3 Intel AMD by Hazard"? Because on our motherboard "C45" we have no issues booting that dvd distro.... so that means there are other differences its nto only the *Bios C45 G45 notice its pretty different... only chipset stayed the same.... I have no clue what do you need for Ethernet Lan to have it working since its not the same as ours..... Audio at least it may work with what i provide(line out on rear) but at least the rest of the choices in customize will work fine for you
  5. DVD being a USB should work... hopefully your hard drive is SATA... if not you will need to change to sata everything.... I've noticed Snow is not friendly with IDE Oh re-read my last reply I updated a little.. included info for your video card(since 10.6.2 is not friendly to 5XXX series).. so that you can get it fully working later on.. when you have managed to get it installed booting in the desktop
  6. Did you follow the instructions? also if by any case you are getting issues since you have an ATI 5870 trying to boot, change the booting argument to: -v -x busratio=20 Another thing.. afterwards if you manage to install it & boot up to the desktop.... I'd suggest you upgrade to 10.6.4 & head over to netkas.org to find the fix to make your Video Card fully working - since its the only way it works on OSX Just noticed your Motherboard is not exactly the same as mines MSI 770-C45 (yours is MSI 770-G45)... but hopefully its pretty similar.. I hope the Realtek R1000 works for you... since that is what makes my mobo have the Ethernet lan working.
  7. LOL yup I was going to say it works perfectly, great it worked for u bro On any updates we are perfectly fine.. since we aren't modifying any original OSX kexts... if we were... then we would need to back up those too before upgrading... so for us its always safe to upgrade with simply the mach_kernel back up =P other users probably cry compared to us... they have a huge hassle to deal with upon upgrades
  8. ATI HD 5770

pfff very simple bro Download Hazard's 10.6.2 distro (the one with the name server intel/amd) Very simple what you need to choose to install it... boot the DVD with: maxmem=4098 busratio=20 -v -x Format your hard drive to GUID - journalized PM me to help you out on the customization selections I have another build with your very same motherboard & AMD PII X4 965BE C3, 8gb DDR3-1600 Ram, XFX 5770
  9. I feel kind of stupid, it does work.... I just forgot to test starting the computer without the USB wireless... and afterwards its on the Desktop... then connect the adapter... it then did the pop up of connection Thank you for suggesting me this USB Wireless
  10. bro, I've just received the TL-WN321G Used the installer you suggested, ofcourse used the 10.6 package installer... but after rebooting nothing has happened.. I even went into Network inside System Preferences but nothing... nada... zip... I checked About This Mac > more info > USB The device is recognized and its IDs are: Product ID: 0x2573 - Vendor ID: 0x148f Then I tried installing the 10.5 package installer & the same thing nothing happened after reboot I verified System/Library/Extensions found Ralink installs their own kext... I right-clicked it to show the package contents & went to see if inside "Info.plist" ... after reading all through it found nothing that had my product id or vendor id... so I decided to manipulate one called Ralink 2 ... I changed I added my own Product & Vendor ID - then tested both KextHelper (rebooted but nothing) & KextUtility (rebooted but nothing). So any help here? My connection is un-secured (no password needed) so that anything can connect to it. The device works perfectly on Windows 7.... any wisdom from your experience with yours???
  11. Thanks, I just ordered today
  12. That's nice... you mentioned RT73 Well which driver is it? From in Here: http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3
  13. Well as the title says it "Can you guys post working USB Wireless adapters on 10.6.4?" All the threads I see are pretty old about mentioning working USB Wireless adapters.. most max I see they mention is on 10.6.2... well what about 10.6.4? I have a Netgear WG111v2 which worked perfectly through 10.4 - 10.5, but on 10.6 I've only gotten it to work on 10.6.2 on a laptop (Acer 3680), it does not work on my 2 desktop builds(no clue why the heck to be honest) used same method installed 10.5 installer from realtek rtl8187l then afterwards go in S/L/E drag the kext to the desktop installed it with kext utility and after reboot.. it simply didn't work (realtek app just kept bouncing around, device simply doesn't turn on - it is detected under About This Mac > more info > usb devices), I even did: sudo kextutil -t -v /System/Library/Extensions/rt8187l.kext as suggested on another thread. So my final guess it just works with some computers & other don't(I only work in 32bits not 64bits if you're wondering since I'm on AMD). So obviously time to give up on this cheap usb wireless & buy a different one.... what are other usb wireless adapters that work perfectly fine under Snow Leopard 10.6.4. Sorry, but please do not recommend me any PCI slot type because I have in my computer 2 video cards and all the Case slots for pci entries are used already from those video cards. I would appreciate the suggested usb's to be on Ebay. Set up that i'll be using it for: CPU: AMD Phenom ii x4 965BE C3 @ 3.80Ghz (224 x 17 - 1.38v) MOBO: GIGABYTE MA790XT-UD4P RAM: 8gb (4 x 2gb) DDR3-1333 GFX: XFX 5770 1GB (Windows) / EVGA 9800GTX+ 512MB (OSX) HD: 1TB Hitachi (Windows 7 Ultimate x64) - 500GB Seagate (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS x64) - 400GB Seagate (Snow Leopard 10.6.4) Optical Drive: LG DVD-RW PSU: Corsair TX850w Case: CM 590 CPU Cooler: Corsair H50 - Exhaust R4's: Fan>Shroud>Rad>Fan Thanks
  14. A few minutes ago I decided to try another voodoohda, in which seemed to work, but audio was way too low & only my front headphone input was the only thing that worked... not even with Voodoo preferences panel helped at all.... But Thanks to you.... I randomly decided to check here and saw you replied asking if I tested the AzaliaAudio.pkg... well I removed voodoohda + the voodoo preferences panel, then installed the Azalia package / rebooted...wallah audio works pefectly - ofcourse just rear input, but I'm happy with that Thanks --- I would suggest even if this thread has Intel in the title... well if any other random AMD user *just like me* comments here again asking for help... you should put up the package of it here.. for the user who at least wants rear output audio.
  15. Well I'm at 10.6.4 already everything works perfectly, the same as 10.6.2... ofcourse minus the onboard sound in/out hmm okay... You left me speechless, I didn't imagine the same audio on this thread had anything to do with having Intel or Amd I already tested VoodooHDA since you suggested it, and the sound is all messed up just like "pop corn"... I've uninstalled it... I've honestly never liked voodoohda on Snow.. I only liked it on leopard(10.5.X).. so I'm not going to ask for help on their forum since they never reply... hehehee i don't want to hassle with it Anyways.... I used for my other build "the one in my signature" AzaliaAudio.pkg (which still works fine, its also at 10.6.4), do you think that works for our Audio "ALC889A" as in for at least only "out" onboard sound and not mic? If it doesn't work, do you have any idea what files I must erase for uninstalling that package.. just incase this is the package file: http://www.mediafire.com/?1u2wnfmmdnj This right now is the set up I'm working with, but still with same CPU: Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P AMD Phenom ii x4 965 SLI EVGA 9800GTX+ 512mb 4gb DDR3-1600 500gb 7200rpm sata Snow Leopard 10.6.4 sorry for the bother again
