    Asus nVidia GeForce 210 1GB DDR3 Working!

I'm a complete noob when it comes to dsdt. I did create a dsdt.aml file using dsdt editor, but upon reboot, my mouse no longer worked! I know I should extract dsdt info and patch it or edit it and then create the .aml file, but I'm not sure what to edit and I can't find patches for this mobo: Dell 0DD431. Any thoughts?

    Asus nVidia GeForce 210 1GB DDR3 Working!

I'll try PCIRootUID=4, have tried 1 and 0 and didn't make any difference. I appreciate the input from you. This is just my grandpa's old computer and I'm just horsing around with it... seeing what I can do with it. It's not my primary computer. I've tried various efi strings, various nvenabler, natit, nvinject, etc. I'm surprised that it seems no matter what I do, it makes no difference. I either get no screen, kp or 1280x1024 without QE/CI. Never get multiple resolution options in system preferences and never get QE/CI. I'll keep horsing around and if I get QE/CI, I'll post my success story here. If anyone has other ideas, I'd like to hear them.

    Asus nVidia GeForce 210 1GB DDR3 Working!

    I am having troubles with this card. It's an EVGA Geforce 210 1gb ddr3 PCIe card. I've successfully installed Snow Leopard (using legacy_kernel), but I can't get QE/CI working. I'm running a Dell XPS 200 which is Intel 945G Express chipset; using a dual core Pentium D 830 processor with 4gb DDR2 RAM. My monitor is VGA, so I have the monitor connected to the DVI port on the Geforce 210 via a DVI-VGA adapter. I've tried GraphicsEnabler yes and no, npci=0x2000 and npci=0x3000, PCIRootUID=0 and 1 and I've also created an EFI string. I've installed nvenabler.kext, I've installed GeForce and other nvidia kexts, but always the same outcome. I'm getting the desired 1280x1024 resolution, but just can't get graphics acceleration. For right now, I'm using no kext files and the EFI string and using chameleon v2.1svn r2069. Any help would be appreciated! Here's my org.chameleon.Boot.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com...yList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Boot Graphics</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EnableHDMIAudio</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>No</string> <key>Instant Menu</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>legacy_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>PciRoot</key> <string>1</string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>No</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Default</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>10</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>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</string> </dict> </plist>

Can't find airport extreme in utility

Just curious if anyone can say why this method works, but "scanning" for base station does not? It's a minor annoyance, but I wonder why. For me, it's just one of those little things that reminds me I'm running a hack and not a true system.

ALC883 SOUND INPUT? Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mobo

Your input and help is much appreciated. How do I go about editing the kext files? Is just the info.plist in each kext or is there more to it?

Thanks for the uploads. Sadly, I saw no difference when I installed your files.

ALC883 SOUND INPUT? Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mobo

Well, if you could upload your AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnabler.kext, I'd like to give them a try. If, by chance you also have an ALCInject.kext, upload it too. The kexts should all be in your System/Library/Extensions folder. I sure appreciate it your help. Here's a link to what my input looks like when it's turned all the way down. (notice the signal strength is still pushing halfway through the meter) Weird things is, your picture looks nearly opposite of what I am experiencing. It looks to me like your level is set to about halfway, but your signal is very low. Matters not, I'd like to give your kexts a try if you can post a link. Thanks very much.

    VoodooHDA

Just figured I'd add my experience to the list: Realtek ALC883 (address 2) Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L motherboard Compiled voodoohda-read-only rev8 from source Output works fine... keyboard, mute volume slider are all perfect Sound in doesn't work at all. Shows external mic/line-in and external mic in system preferences sound, but nothing coming in to either. slider works okay, but no incoming signal.

    883 AppleHDAController fix?

I just noticed this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=161638 I haven't tried it myself, but maybe it will help you. In brief, it looks like all you need to do is get rid of applehda.kext and load the voodoohda.kext, cross your finger and pray for good luck. Let me know your results if you try. I think I might try just for the hell of it, although from reading the various posts, it looks like I'll be worse off than I am now. Another thing you could try is the ALC883_ad2.pkg from the "iPC 10.5.6 PPF5" hack distro. I did and it gave my system profiler proper info, but I had to re-patch applehda with my codec dump after I installed it (which would probably cause a kernel panic for you). So basically now all I want/need is that line-in level to adjust properly.

    883 AppleHDAController fix?

I'd expect to see the first one, but not the second one. Now that you have "some" sound go back to Audio Midi and check properties for built-in headphone. configure speakers to 1 for left and 2 for right. Source should be headphones, format 44100.0 and 2ch-16bit. Also make sure default and system output are set to headphone. Let me know. edit- now I see your front jack might be messed up. Try the above, maybe it's not a bad jack but a bad setting in Audio Midi. Could be a bad jack, though doesn't hurt to try.

    883 AppleHDAController fix?

I don't know why you'd have only one output option and I don't know why AppleHDA.kext would disappear after running the patcher. Neither of those things occur on my computer when I do the things we've done. I don't want to leave you hanging out to dry, but I AM NOW STUMPED. Keep posting and I'll keep reading, but I don't think I can be of further help. One last question: When you open System Profiler and select Audio, what is the device ID that is shown?

    883 AppleHDAController fix?

Just FYI: I deleted my HDAEnabler.kext and AppleHDA.kext and rebooted, thus starting from ground zero. I then went through the steps and files I offered you and my sound is working just as before. 1)Install HDAEnabler.kext with kexthelper. reboot. 2)Install AppleHDA.kext from alc883_add2_AppleHDA folder. reboot 3)Patch HDA with codec_dump.txt. reboot. 4)Select line out from system preferences/sound/output. My headphones are plugged into the rear of the computer. If I plug them into front of the computer I select headphones. 5)Enjoy some iTunes.

    883 AppleHDAController fix?

Go to Applications/Utilities and open Audio Midi Setup. Halfway down the left side select Properties For: Choose Built-in Line Output then select configure speakers Make left front #1 Make right front #2 When you've done that and click the boxes above the #1 and #2, do you get sound? Also, not sure if it matters, but when I reboot/shutdown I always do so straight from the apple menu and I don't logout first.

    883 AppleHDAController fix?

Did it prompt you for your password? If so, just let it do it's thing. I don't recalll it taking more than a couple minutes at most. Edit-- okay... fingers are crossed!

    883 AppleHDAController fix?

Yes! But, the worst that could ever come of this is the total devestation of mankind as we know it. DON'T SCREW IT UP! In all seriousness, all we're doing is replacing / changing two system files. We won't kill your computer or your spiffy OSX install.
