AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

UPDATE: I have found out that AppleHDA.kext does not load upon restart. How to make it loadable all the time? Even when I load it manually in terminal with kextload -t and then restart, it does not load. It is loaded only after installation of Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg and it works only after ONE restart. Tonight I am downloading UBUNTU just to check if I can get the right sigmatel codec from cat.!!! I need a beer! Cheers!

AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Hi! I have an issue with sound. I don't know how to fix it! Info first : MB 945gnt P P4 630 OSX 10.5.2 (ToH 10.5 than netkas guide update to 10.5.2, than graphic update) sound:sigmatel. AppleHDA.kext from 10.5.2. Pclinuxos cat gives 9221 a1 dump, Knopix gives same (does not say 9221 a1 but generic though) It does not work with any of Taruga's hda patchers. No sound at all! But, when I install Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg, repair permissions and reboot I get the sound like I used to have on Tiger. Blue port sound out. Mic works great from pink port. UPON REBOOT I GET NO SOUND AGAIN. If I install Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg again then repair permissions reboot I do have sound again. And on and on... I DO NOT GET sound every other reboot after successful instalation of Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg. WHAT AM I MISSING? I just wander if I should add some lines to com.apple.boot.plist Seems like sound chip is initialized and then after second reboot is not. And then I have to install kexts again. I am kind of confused. I have never had this kind of problem.! Thanx in advance!

    Dial-up modems

Macgirl, I use 10.4.8 (8L2127) with 8.8.1 from mifki, I also tried kernel from semthex. Never have had success with above mentioned modem. I have even tried to make custom modem cable, according to diagrams which I found on web, with slight modifications of course (i had to imitate mini din8 with db9). Some of them worked, but even then kernel panic. By the way I can send you diagrams if you wish. Maybe you can come to some conclusion. Thanx for your effort to solving this problem.

    Dial Up Modem on osx86

I have been searching for solution for many months, I can't be more specific. I went through many technical sites about rs232, rs422 db9, db25 and so on. I think that the problem is in internal wiring of pc rs232. I dont know anymore. Maybe it is up to modem... Who knows?

    Dial-up modems

USR faxmodem 5630d (with latest firmware update) which is rs232 does not work on hackintosh! It has provoked kernel panic ever since 10.4.3! Again, I believe it has something to do with rs232 and rs 422!

    Dial Up Modem on osx86

Mac uses RS422 not RS232. This is the problem with external serial modems connected to hackintosh machines. What pc rs232 does with DTR, DSR, RTS, CTS, and DCD mac does with HSKo, HSKi, and GPi. PC uses 5 pins, mac uses 3 pins. So, osx on pc gets confused, which ends up in kernel panic. Thats it.

    Dial Up Modem on osx86

I have had problem with USR serial modem ever since 10.4.3. I think that solution is in conversion from DB9 to mini DIN8. I have tried to make custom cable DB25 to DB9 which would mimic DB25 to mini DIN8 male cable available from apple dealers. Searched all over internet and no success. Still panics. Dont know what to do. Its frustrating.

    Dial Up Modem on osx86

I use US robotics 56k fax modem (serial) 5630?. It does work but gives kernel panic when connected to internet.
  15. Hi all, I have red through all topics regarding serial dial up connection to Internet. I have found no solution to my problem. Here is what happens with USR 56k serial faxmodem (5630b chip): It is no problem connecting to ISP, but after loading 2-3 pages with Safari or Firefox, system panics and I need to reset. I tried different modem scripts with no success. Happens all the time. (Interestingly it does not happen when I connect via BT modem on my Sony Ericsson Z1010). I can stay connected long time as long as I do not start any browser. Could anyone with more knowledge solve this? Dial up is the only way I can get to Internet. Please help. 945gntl P4630 1gbRAM MaxtorPATA
  16. Hi all, I installed successfully Parallels on my hacintosh but once I try to boot from CD XP I get the message "Unable to connect VM to port %1". I adjusted boot properties to CD,HD,Floppy. No success. Any hints? Intel i945GNTL P4 630 1GB RAM PATA Maxtor DVD burner 10.4.5 custom mach_kernel (base patch only) 8.4.1
  17. I tried the same thing as you did. I used serial 3com USR 56k faxmodem. I defined it in System Pref>Networking as USR Universal (to let you know, it also works as 3com ISDN and few others). Connected perfectly. As long as you do not open Safary or Mozila (haven't tried Opera), keeps working. As soon as you do open it gives kernel panic, and you have to shut down. I tried to replace SerialFamily.kext from 10.4.3 but again it didn't work. I tried connecting via BT modem (Z1010) and works perfect. No kernel panic. I, too believe that the problem is either with serial port or that there is no support for this modem (driver). If you check HCL for 10.4.3 on wiki you will find under networking that some person menaged to run Intel Ambient 56k internal with MD5628 chip?! I tried hard to get in possesion of this modem with no success. Plese keep me informed of your work.
  18. Hello, I have the same problem! Did you come up with some solution?
