I have to agree here, I've been part of this thread from near the beginning and every time I have a problem a simple Google search fixes it, and now insanelymac has been updated with a much better search engine, there really isn't any excuse for not doing a search first before asking. Plus I've actually read all 86 pages and just feel I have to say that you can't expect Mysticus to be your personal osx technician that will be on call 24/7, he has managed to do a lot in these 86 pages and is clearly dedicating more of his time with the new forum.

I seem to have done something wrong with mine lol, did the update to upgrade my 10.5.4 Jas dvd to the samsung 10.5.6 nc10 install, installation goes successfully, i've reformatted both my original osx install and my ddmac partition, install the nc10 install to the ddmac partition, however when i go to boot from start up i get hal.dll not found so kinda confused on what it could be? any help? ps merry xmas to all

To get around the HFS partition error, i merely booted into samsung recovery, and then exited once it loaded up, that seemed to fix the problem for me, try that and see how it goes

You are running xp on the NC10 currently? If you are then I'm just perplexed as it was my knowledge that xp runs upon NTFS which can handle 4gb+ filesize, and regarding your install partition that should be fat32 definately otherwise you will not be able to install osx on it at all. You should ideally have 4 partitions in total, 1) samsung recovery, 2) XP, 3) around 5-6gb for ddmac installation and 4) the remainder that you shall install osx onto. both the 3 and 4 should be fat32, however 3 should be a logical drive (shown how to do it in pages 4 through to 22 of the guide from the first post in this thread. - http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=137314) try that out and let us know how it goes. just found the bookmark i used to help install it for me http://forums.msiwind.net/mac/how-install-...-dvd-t4701.html read that guide helps explain it.

there shouldn't be a problem with the size of the file esp in windows as ntfs should be able to handle the 4gb+ file size. if you find that ddmac keeps crashing etc, then what i found is while it is installing leave it alone completely until it changes itself, i know its so tempting to click on it as it looks like it freezes but just leave it to do its magic and it'll work.

On my old PowerBook I had either aMsn or Adium both pretty well supported and cover most clients, try those out they should both support video as well if you want to get your webcam on.

Yeh, they are being picky lol, they tested out my MacBook and the NC10 osx and can't decide between the two, I told them the NC10 is pretty perfect for everyday use. but alas being picky, plus the price of the NC10 has gone up recently someplaces to £329

Have you since restarted? If so, what happens after the restart?

I had a look at that guide, the first thing it mentions is that *CARE* DO NOT USE THIS WITH A SENTELIC PAD (corners already scroll) It seems to stop the mouse working at all without a driver reinstall. which is essentially what the NC10 has, i.e. the scrolling bar on the right and also along the bottom of the touchpad, so i would try it with caution if not at all, although the NC10 does the functions of the Synaptic trackpad it would be a bit of a pain trying to find the drivers for the mouse if it is indeed sentelic.

I downloaded my copy from a Torrent website however, I'm 100% certain that the copy from Mysticus's website and the copy I have are identical as the MD5 hash's are the same, did you try using ddmac instead of what you used to install it to the HDD?? I used ddmac and didn't have any problems whatsoever, try that and let us know how it goes and hopefully we'll find a solution Regarding your no battery issue, go back a few pages to post *248 on page number 13 and you shall have your answer.

Just wondering whether this would be any advantage to people not wanting to upgrade their wireless, well eventually anyway http://blogs.computerworld.com/atheros_wi_..._linux_friendly btw I do have the white one, and while the case stays clean due to its glossy nature the keyboard area has got a slight discolouration.
