Windows Vista Beta: A lot like Mac OS X

Uh... he's leaving in two years... Vista will (hopefully) be long out by the time he leaves.

    This proves it!

Actually says nothing about WinXP, but more about IE. This is a known bug with IE6 and downloading large (1GB+, I believe) files.

    I hate Applecare!

Sad as it is, don't curse Apple because you didn't even look at what you were buying. Its not their fault you didn't read what Applecare was when you paid for it, and its not their fault you broke it. While it would be nice to have a warranty on such things, don't curse them for doing exactly what they told you upfront they would.

Happened to me, here is my thread with detailed instructions on how to fix it: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=13814&hl=

    ALPS Glidepad beta driver

Ezhoon: I installed on 10.4.5 and upgraded to 10.4.6 and it works fine for me. Give it a shot!
  7. Judging by the three other threads I've found about this, the HCL on the wiki, and the fact that mine doesn't work, I'm gonna say get yourself a different NIC.

    Booting in Verbose Mode

    Thank you both very much!

    Booting in Verbose Mode

I'm sure this is a silly question, but where do I find those keys?

    Booting in Verbose Mode

This probably seems backward, but OS X is booting up in verbose mode even when i dont add the -v boot command, and as I know there are no errors going on in the background, I'd much rather see the pretty boot screen. So, can I turn verbose mode OFF? Hopefully someone will know how to fix this. Thanks for your time!

    Why no Aero Glass?

I have it by default on my laptop with a Radeon Mobility x300 128MB, don't have it on my desktop with an (outdated) nVidia GeForce 3 ti200 64MB.

    ntfs partition & macosx

"Oddly mac's, for a few years now, can read/write ntfs files over a network." I believe that would be because over a network, file system doesn't matter, because over ethernet they all use the same method of file transfer, similar to the way http and ftp work.
  13. Excellent, I just tried that and it formatted fine and I am installing as we speak. Thanks!!!

    How to boot?

Yep, burn the image to a DVD and restart. Darwin should take over and ask you to press any key to boot from the disc. Do that, and the installer should start up.
  15. Ok, I'd tried to use the disk utility to erase the partition before, but it said something to the effect of not being able to write the partition table, I believe. I have to go to work soon, but will try using diskpart and then the disk utility tomorrow and let you know how things go. Thanks!
