  1. I went the Chameleon route as my boot option. It was the easiest to implement IMO. I did use NVkush for the graphics. I have the 8500gt 512mb. Thanks again! Maybe someone else can chime in on the wifi issues??? I bought the card cause I thought I had read it was fully compatible (can't remember where now). I installed the IO80211Family.kext but that didn't work either. Im not sure if it needs to be customized to my system? TIA -Jonathan
  2. Well I finally got my Hackintosh up and running almost 100% thanks to Robert and rocksteady! Just 2 things are missing. The main problem is that my wireless card is not being recognized. Its a Netgear wg311 v2. And System profiler shows my vid card as 256mb when its 512mb. I probably didnt implement rocksteady's kexts correctly on that. I know both of these are simple fixes. I'll just have to read up on how to fix them. I havn't tested spdif out but I have no doubt it works. Thanks everyone!
  3. I have an 8500gt 512mb. Thanks alot Ill give it a try. Just some more info.. I was able to install Kalyway 10.5.2 and it loads completely. when i reboot it hangs on the gray apple with the circle and slash.
  4. Right, I should have been more clear. I have the Boot132 cd in both the original and the modified versions. I still get the plist not found. Would I need to follow Superhai's method to edit the initrd.img? Or is it the "Patched 'boot' file supporting JMicron, Boot.plist and device-properties strings: here" That I'm supposed to add to the USB stick or CD?
  5. Thank you first of all to Robert and also to the community for all of the advances in osx86! I have a p5q-em with a e5200 cpu. I have run into a few roadblocks and wanted to see if anyone had input. I'm in ACHI, Firewire is enabled, and the BIOS is the one in the first post. I partitioned the HDD as a GPT and made a 100gig partition as HFS+ since it wont let me do the whole HDD. All I want to do is install retail OSX. ( I have tried with the bootable USB, and the modified Boot132) I am able to get to the Darwin screen and if I type 80 I get the partition I created. I then pop in the retail DVD and it tells me that com.apple.boot.plist is not found. What am I doing wrong???? Thanks in advance.

    PCI-e Sound Card

It looks like the ESI Juli@ will do the trick. I'm trying to set up a HTPC that will do Boxee with Netflix at full resolution. Thanks to the both of you
  8. Is there an internal sound card that is compatible with osx86 that has optical toslink out? Ive searched but came up with nothing Would any of these work? If not how bout a usb or firewire one? thanks!
  9. Ok I have updated my cart per your suggestions. Originally I wanted it in the living room, but it could also go in a closet or in the bedroom. This plus some sata cables and a dvd RW comes out to about 550 after shipping and taxes (yes i live in tennessee). Any better?
  10. Thanks for the input. This machine would basically be a HTPC. I chose that board due to the fact that it allows for overclocking the processor. Im looking to keep it sub $400. This will be my first osx86 build so im just looking for it to be fairly simple.
  11. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums. I've been trolling around a bit and i'm interested in building a Hackintosh. How does it look? Any suggestions are welcome.
