  1. Half Display Problem with X3100 and 10.5.7

Hi, Try this: - Leave the Vanilla kexts for x3100 in place (but remove the AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext) - Remove all the kexts for gma 950 - use pacifist to extract the AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext from the Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 package and copy ONLY this to /System/Library/Extensions/ folder (alternatively, just install the whole Graphics Update 1.0 package, but make sure you remove the gma 950 kexts before you reboot) - rebuild your kext cache and restart the system, it should come up on the internal LCD at full resolution (1680 x 1050 for me) - don't delete the default AppleIntelIntergratedFrameBuffer kext Let's know if it works. You can also check out my SL installation notes (for HP Compaq 6710b) at http://www.itayemi.com/blog/2009/09/21/ins...p-compaq-6710b/ I am currently trying to see if a fixed DSDT may help my sleep problem.
  2. Hi All, please can someone post the DSDT (aml or dsl) from a real MAC laptop with Intel GMA X3100 (Mobile 965) graphics card. I am looking into the sleep problem on my laptop (HP 6710b) - see my signature for full spec. Please post as an attachment here (forgive me admin if not allowed) or upload to one of the popular file upload sites. Thanks.
  3. Leopard Laptops with NON-working GMA X3100

Hi, I am posting this on an HP 6710b laptop with GMA X3100 (running SnowLeopard) at full resolution, though System Profiler doesn't mention QE/CI at all. I believe the following should work with Leopard too. - Leave the Vanilla kexts for x3100 in place (but remove the AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext) - Remove all the kexts for gma 950 - use pacifist to extract the AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext from the Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 package and copy ONLY this to /System/Library/Extensions/ folder - rebuild your kext cache and restart the system, it will come up on the internal LCD at full resolution (1680 x 1050 for me) - don't delete the default AppleIntelIntergratedFrameBuffer kext outstanding: - sleep still doesn't work properly - the DSDt from the HP 6710b is very buggy. I have got it to compile, but it seems to be missing quite a few devices. There are some samples from a Sony Viao with a similar X3100 card on one of the threads but I don't know if it will work on the HP. - finally, is there a tutorial out there on how to generate the EFI string for the Intel cards (X3100) from scratch? I couldn't find the PDF hactrix2006 was supposed to have made and the gfxutil seems not to be for Intel cards. I can get my EDID, but how to get the EFI string still stumps me. Thanks.
  4. Chameleon with DSDT override

Hi Mackerintel, sorry to bother you but could you take a look at post #180 from me(any time would be fine). Thanks. You may notice from the kexstat output that I dont have AppleIntelCPUPM and I do have the ACPIPowerSource in my ACPIPlatform Plugins subdirectory. Thanks.
  5. Chameleon with DSDT override

Hi Mackerintel/All, thanks for the help with compiling the buggy DSDT from my HP Compaq 6710b laptop. I installed the Chameleon with DSDT override. Placed the compiled dsdt.aml in the root of my OSX installation and rebooted the system. The screen went blank a few seconds after the desktop came up. I rebooted to single user and removed the dsdt.aml and was able to boot up. It appears the machine went to sleep due to wrong temperature value detection. Below are some entries from my system.log file. I have attached some more entries from my system.log and my kextstat output. Is there a kext I need to remove or some basic issue with my dsdt.aml content? Thanks. Nov 13 22:33:02 omegaxhp kernel[0]: PowerManagement emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep! 6. Chameleon with DSDT override

Hi All, Please find attached the DSTS (ASL) file from my HP Compaq 6710b. Like Ovof's issue, the extracted AML won't eveb compile at all without any modifications. My goal is: any advance towards being able to sleep/wake the laptop and possibly a vanilla install (and support for 10.5.6). Right now, sleep doesn't work (iAtkos v4 patched to 10.5.5 with update combo). The error I get when trying to compile the ASL is as follows. Can someone also help to indicate what changes I need to make to get it to compile and also solve all the various issues which is the purpose of this thread. Thanks. 7. Hi BuildSmart, why don't you post a HOWTO instead :-) ?
  8. Broadcom 570x and 575x

Hi Loepere, does that mean your modified driver makes your 5754 work flawlessly without an KP or need to frequently reboot? Does DHCP work OK too? If yes, can you possibly modify the driver to work for the 5787 card? If not, can you please post your modified driver as-is? At least we could try and see if it works with the 5787. Thanks.
  9. Hi BuildSmart, the driver you attached to your post on Andy's RT61 driver development thread does not contain an Intel version. It only had the PPC version which succeeded in hanging my iATKOS v2.0i (10.5.4) on a HP Compaq 6710b. I had to hold down the power button to shutdown the system :-) MacGirl or someone else mentioned on some other thread that since the MacBook Pro does not support the bus used bu the RT61, that's probably why there is no Intel version of its drivers.
  10. Ralink RT61 mac driver development effort

Hi Andy, please continue with the port. Unfortunately, the file posted by BuildSmart does not contain an Intel driver - it only had the PPC version. Not only did it not work, it froze my system upon boot and I had to hold down the power button to shut it down :-( I am using iATKOS v2.0i on an HP Compaq 6710b. Wish you lots of success! I can't use my inbuilt Broadcom 5787 nor the Intel 3945ABG wireless. I am trying hard not to get an external USB NIC :-)
  11. WORKING BCM57XX DRIVER for OS X

Winrunr21: I think u shoul look at BigPimpin's driver at www.ohessex.com. He has practically got it working (porting it from the BSD source) that way u don't have to start from scratch and who knows, you might just be able to get rid of the known bugs or heaven be praised finish the porting. We are hoping BigPimpin will continue the development, but nobody has heard from him in a couple of weeks - probably busy with life :-) Winrunr21: I think u shoul look at BigPimpin's driver at www.ohessex.com. 12. llauqsd: please if I edit the OSInstall.mpkg to allow for MBR installation as described. Can I boot with the resultant DVD and install in a partition on an MBR HDD? I have got a Windows Vista laptop and I usually use partition 4 for my OSX (Kalyway, iATKOS, etc). So can I install the modified DVD unto the same partition (followed by installing EFI of Chameleon). Thanks. Schweppes: use Toast 9 (llauqsd stated it in the guide :-)
  13. New BCM5751 Driver

Hi BigPimpin, not sure if I am missing something but I don't see any links (to any drivers) in any of the 8 posts above. Are you developing a new driver? Does it support the Broadcom 5787? If yes, I can also test it. Thanks.
  14. Broadcom 57XX Chipsets

Hi BigPimpin, you seem to know a lot about this issue (seen your comments on various threads). Is it possible you help develop a proper broadcom driver? Thanks.
  15. Broadcom 57XX Chipsets

Hi, what exactly did you do to IONetworkingFamily.kext? From the steps you listed, the hex editor was used to modify the AppleBCM5701Ethernet kext. Thanks.
