1. Force EDID of Monitor?

Hi, I think you have understood. When I try and do that, I get a message telling me that: "System extension cannot be used. The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/DisplayMergeNub.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling or contact the product's vendor for an update" I tried using ##### and just copying it in via the terminal, but same result.
2. I hope you guys can help. I have a Macbook Pro 15" (with AMD GPU). Official thing, not a hackintosh. My problem is that I am plugging it into an external monitor, via a thunderbolt to VGA adapter, which connects to a KVM, and then to the monitor. Through all of that, the EDID signal is not being passed to the Mac correctly, and so I'm only offered a choice of 800x600 or 1280x1024 as a resolution. Until now, I'd been using SwitchResX to force the correct resolution, but when I try and play a game through Steam, such as CounterStrike Source, I get a message saying that an OpenGL device could not be opened. If I run the monitor at one of the two resolutions, it does load up the game, but looks horrible. So is there an alternative to switchresx? or someway i can tell the mac the correct edid? Thanks!
3. BCM440x Yosemite Kext

Hi all, I'm trying to install Yosemite on my Dell Vostro 1500 (C2D 2.5Ghz, 8600MGT). The three biggest issues that remain are: CPU Power Management Ethernet WiFi Wifi needs to wait for me to source a compatible wifi card. Power management requires research. But Ethernet, I can't find a kext for the BCM440x. So at the moment, the laptop is internetless. Any links to a kext? A number of googles turns up a number of links that are now dead.
4. ACPI Platform drivers?

Hi, I've managed to install Lion on to my Dell Vostro 1500 following the guide from myHack. However, it will not boot. I've replaced some kexts that are from Snow Leopard as the Lion ones aren't compatible with the Dells it seems. I have to boot with the flag: -f PCIRootUID=1 Otherwise it'll load a small white rectangle in the top left and do nothing else. With the flag, I'll get a few seconds of loading and then: panic(cpu - caller [Long Hex code]): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".\m"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1699.22.73/iokit/Kernel/IOPlatformExpert.cpp:1504 Then some backtrace on the CPU 0 and says I should restart. This also occurs if I use the -v flag as well. Any ideas on a solution please?
5. MBR Install instantiate?

Well, I moved the partition to the beginning of the disk, it had installed on a later partition before, but it sounded logical, but it still fails with the same message. After that message it does do a few other things and does get a message of: ------Begin Installation------- Or something like it. But it doesn't move too quickly, but then locks up (as in the whole PC and need to restart with pressing the power button). Annoying that I had it and now can't get back to what I had at least.
6. MBR Install instantiate?

Hi, I've already managed an install on this hardware before, but unfortunately 10.7.2 killed that and my backup refused to work. Anyway, what I've done is follow this guide www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=262457 Last time I did this it worked OK. This time though, it's stuck at about 18 minutes trying to install. Opening the log, it starts the install but I get the following error: PFPackage::packageWithURL - can't instantiate package: /System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg Which I think is what's stopping it really working. It also mentions about not being able to make the partition bootable, which I don't mind as I'll be able to put Grub in myself later. I thought maybe permissions but disk utility says the disk isn't using permissions. The installer is pretty slow. It's on a Dell Vostro 1500 if that's needed.
7. Dual Boot help

Right, took a while, but I've now reinstalled the WIndows 7 bootloader. It's a little different to before, I had to copy the boot loader off of the Windows 7 boot media and for some reason it looks like Vista... Anyway, I installed EasyBCD, installed NeoGrub and it boots up to Chameleon, however, this boots for a second and then crashes, restarting. Chimera that I had installed before worked and booted. What's the difference between Chimera and Chameleon that lets it work? I don't use any flags, as far as I'm aware to get it to work.
8. Here's the setup: Dell Vostro 1500 with SSD in HDD Compartment. HDD in the DVD drive bay. Windows is installed on the SSD, OS X on the HDD. The Bios is only able to boot off of the SSD though. So I installed Chimera onto the SSD, wiping the small boot partition that Windows 7 sets-up right at the start of the partition. Now, I can boot into OS X, but when I select Windows it complains that it has a missing BOOT something, press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart. So, how does anyone suggest I go about this? I can repair the windows install easily enough, but then I lose OS X. Help?
9. [Solved] Wrong Resolution no matter what!

I've fixed it myself. Used ##### to install Chimera onto the System Reserved Space and that seems to work with it. For some reason Chameleon wouldn't do it. Maybe I was using an old version that was incompatible or something. So try that Now I need to get the laptop parts working, it shows 0% as battery.
10. Hi, I've managed to install Lion on my Dell Vostro 1500. It's got an 8600M GT and uses a resolution of 1280x800. I've tried Graphics Enabler and Graphics Mode in the plist and also the option to use Nvidia ROM (whatever that is), but it still only boots with 1024x768, no matter what I do. I have a couple of thoughts about what could be wrong, I could be changing the wrong plist. You see, I have modified my laptop a little bit, so that the HDD is actually a small SSD, that has Windows on. The CD Drive is now actually a large HDD, where OS X is installed. Unfortunately the laptop can only boot from the SSD, but once it's got initial instructions it can boot off the HDD. I've had to delete the "System Reserved" space that Windows 7 creates with it's boot loader and install Chameleon in there, and this allows me to choose to boot off the HDD. Maybe I need to change the plist that's on there? I'm currently editing the plist with Chameleon v2 RC5 via the System Preferences pain. Is that right? Thanks for any help guys.
11. It's managed to boot, just by using a different version of Chameleon it seems :S Not sure, but I'm making a backup fast so that at least I have something working. Now to post in other places to try and get it working properly.
12. Hi, I've been following this guide to install Lion on to my Dell Vostro 1500. I've managed to install it and do the commands in the terminal app, but when I then go to boot up, I get the following screen. What have I done wrong? Thanks for any help. EDIT Right, I was looking at the guide on the PC and noticed that the code quote area had a scroll bar, something the iPhone didn't show. So anyway, I've done that extra command required and now I have a different error, but I think it's a lot closer. It may be something to do with the DSDT? I'll be honest, I have no idea, but it's definitely something to do with the CPU management. New pic shown below: Thanks! EDIT 2: Tried deleteing the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. It gets further and stops at a different place. See Picture. Any help?
13. Dell Vostro 1500 DSDT

Hi, I've got Snow Leopard 10.6.7 installed. Everything works except for a working DSDT that throttles the CPU etc. The Auto-patcher doesn't have the Dell Vostro 1500 in it, so I can't use that I don't think. This laptop has an Nvidia 8600M GT inside. Any help would be great
14. Hi, I've installed OS X on my Dell Vostro 1500. ATM, it will boot into Safe mode only. If I leave it to boot normally it will boot up and show the desktop but after say 5 seconds, everything will go to the blue background and then the desktop wallpaper and dock etc will reload and then I can carry on for another 5 seconds untill it all happens again. I think it might be related to the graphics driver I installed using #####, but I'm not sure if that is true or just coincidence (or something else doing it). Other things that I would like some help on please are: 1) TrackPad drivers, sometimes it'll be super sensitive and have no scrolling options 2) BroadCom Ethernet drivers. They work, but extremely slowly and sometimesit will stop working completely. Thanks for any help Full Specs: Dell Vostro 1500 Intel C2D 1.6GHz 2Gb RAM Mushkin SSD (Windows 7 boot) Secondary HDD (Space and OS X) Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
15. EDITED: iBoot is the only way it works

Still looking for some help on this please.
