    Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H Mac Install Guide

Hey guys-- I built a hackintosh with rev 1.1 of this motherboard, and I followed this guide to the letter. I'm having a few issues.... 1) USB3.0 is very finicky. The card reader that I'm using occasionally stops working, and I have to hot-plug the connection to the motherboard a few times to get it to come back online. 2) This is the more pressing issue: Now and then, audio playback will sound distorted and garbled. This happens regardless of the kind of media that is playing. When it happens, it usually clears up within a minute or two. I'm using the included VoodooHDA. 3) I'm unable to update to 10.8.2. Every attempt results in hanging about midway through the boot. gigabyte z77-ds3h rev 1.1 Gigabyte nVidia GeForce GT 640 2GB Intel i7-3570k SATA3 256gb Samsung SSD SATA3 3TB HDD 16GB ram

    Internal PCI-E Card Reader?

I'll go with the one you recommended, then.

    Internal PCI-E Card Reader?

Thank you. I did misspeak about the USB2.0. I meant that my experience with external USB2.0 card readers has been hit and miss. My confusion was more broadly about whether USB card readers generally worked with OS X. So I guess they do. Thanks again
  4. I am building a Hackintosh from scratch with a GA-Z77-DS3H. My question is regarding internal card readers (SD, SDHC, SDXC, CF, etc...) I do a lot of photography and video editing, so I need to be able to read/write SD cards with better speed than a USB2.0 adapter. Are there internal card readers (PCI-E or otherwise) that will work with Mountain Lion with no problems? Thanks

    ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4570

Sooooo.........basically what you're saying is, we're never going to have mobility HD 4xxx support?

    ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4570

*Bump. So, guys, i'm just a simple hackintosher, and i've got a toshiba A505 laptop with ATI mobility hd 4500 series (probably 4570?) Anyone know if we can get Dong onto this or something?
  8. Hey...Dong....i've got a toshiba notebook with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 45xx series....i recently saw a post on netkas's blog about your drivers for 45xx/46xx/48xx for non-mobility. i was wondering if there is any hope for mobility support for that driver in the near future?

    Toshiba Satellite L500 - 153

No, it won't work. Here's why: I have the toshiba satellite a500. Trust me, you won't be able to live with it. I know for a fact that ATI mobility HD 45xx/46xx and so on are NOT supported with ANY kext on the internet at this time. Attempting to use any other ATI kext will only result on a crazy screwed up black screen upon boot. You may be able to get into safe mode, but you will not be able to boot normally. Netkas posted kexts for hd 45xx and such on his site the other day, but as of now they are incompatible with mobility. He later said that we are waiting for the creator of the kexts to add the proper framebuffer for mobility, so it's only a matter of time i suppose. The wireless card may work, but im not completely sure. Look around in some of the distro packages to see if there's included drivers (i'd go for ideneb 10.5.7 or 10.5.8 leopard). However, until we get working drivers for Mobility HD, there's no point in even trying to install Leopard, let alone Snow. Snow takes a lot more work to install as of now, because there are no early distros for snow like there were for leopard (the great Kalyway and iATKOS) Anyways, don't waste your time and energy on this laptop for now until we get the graphics drivers. Trust me, i've tried. It's not worth it. P.S. once we have drivers, if you are wanting to install seven or vista or xp alongside OS X, i would recommend installing Linux on a 2gb partition and use that as your bootloader. From my experience its more reliable than chameleon or xiehzy. theres an easy terminal command to set which partition to boot default, and also how much time to give the countdown. - Nate

    ATi Mobility Radeon HD4650

According to netkas (he says this later in the comments on the ATI 10.6.2 discussion), we're just waiting for the dude that wrote the kexts to add the proper framebuffer for mobility. So i suppose it's only a matter of time.
  11. So i install iDeneb 1.3 thinking that i will finally be able to update to 10.5.5, after previous attempts had failed. So i selected nvinject 256 at installation for my XFX GeForce 8400GS 256 mb card, however, on completion, all i get when booted up is a black screen with the spinning cursor up at the top. I have succeeded in using iATKOS 10.5.5, however i had other problems with that. My card does work in 10.5.4, as i am using it now. I also have patched kext so that DVI will work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the black screen of death? :(Thanks in advance!

    iWork '09 trojan beware!

{censored}. this sucks. anyone know what torrent it was that was infected? (don't post a link but u can say the name and what site it was from)
  13. You're absolutely right about this. But, I'm sure the reason they haven't shut down hacks is probably that they wanted to learn from this community everything relevant to either shutting hacks down or releasing their OS for pc's. If it's choice A, then i'm sure they're watching the forums that contain discussions such as what we would DO if they did shut us down, and everything that we have planned. If it's B, of course they're watching! They probably get so much information out of us! If* they are planning an X86 release, they are probably paying close attention to what we say is working and what's not. We have been talking about needed drivers, modifying kexts, and all of that sort, and if they needed it, they could come right here and find out what they need to do. Apple is pretty much in control of it all. We'll just have to see what happens...
  14. ok wow we've totally gotten off the topic of Psystar lol
