    Acer Extensa 5220 - LOW price´n NICE

Yestarday i have successfuly installed 10.5.6 leo on my 5220 my specs are: 1.7GHz 1GB DDR2 RAM X3100 120GB AHCI SATA i've used: iAtkos v5 10.5.5 Stock Kernel (not chosen) EFI v9 x86 ACPI EFI for X3100 and GMA 950 boadcom wificard SMBIOS enablers for MB Air Intel AHCI SATA etc/ask after install (which btw was the 9th one, i've failed 8 times ;p) i've updated to 10.5.6 with security update and latest updates up to date with no problems at all. One thing i had to do is to install custom kexts for the X3100 gfx card because without them i ended up with broken screen. I didnt delete appleintelcpupowermenagement.kext and didnt mess up with anything before the 10.5.6 update. I've just updated like a real mac, using software update. What works: Wifi (out of the box) X3100 (with kexts from this forum) QE/CI on Sound (without mic/headphones i/o, only internal speakers) battlery indicator laptop indentified as MacBook Air no problems with keyboard/trackpad no problems with USB What doesnt work: card reader ( i dont need it) LAN (i dont really need it too) Mic/headphoes jacks Ilife 09 works like a charm, same is safari 4 (two reasons why i even bother with 10.5.6)
  2. I have exactly same problem, but with 10.5.3 update. I have Acer extensa 5220 with kalyway 10.5.1 --> combo update 10.5.2 --> combo update 10.5.3 the only solution for at the moment is booting up with -f, eighter normal mode or safe mode doesnt work. try to press F8 at boot screen and then type -f and wait for it to boot. if it's fine add the -f value to com.apple.boot.plist so that it always boots with it. i dont know any other solution to this, since even reinstalling drivers and deleeting kexts etc didnt work for me. i know thee reason for this is that something is wrong with the extension cache, and rebuilding it (-f) everytime you boot fix it for the time being. anyone have any solution for this?

    booting problem (vista+osx)

EFI bootloaders fail to install because the OSX partition doesnt want to unmmount, any ideas how to unmount it?
  4. i've searched the forum and found no solution so i've decided to make a new clean kalyway instalation... i have a serious problem right now because the system reinstalation didnt work, didnt solve this problem.. i've format the disk clean.. made OS X installation and the finder and dock is still broke.. i really dont know what to do now.. before the audio fix everything was working fine and now even system reinstall doesnt fix anything.. please help edit: i noticed when i restart the system, the finder and dock work as they should for few (20 or so) seconds, and than they stop responding to mouse-over, as if the cursor didnt exist untill it clicks.. i think maybe the system loads up some controller or file at the start up that prevents the mouse from propper working? any ideas?
  5. Hi, I have Acer Extensa 5220 with kalyway 10.5.1 Install upgraded to 10.5.2 I had everything working fine, except for the audio (ALC268) input (mic) and output (headphones) problem. I've decided to fix this. I've found Taaruga's installer and the appleHDA.kext, so i installed it. After that i've got the audio working fine, but my problem with Leo started here aswell. My problem is that Finder doesnt fully work as it should. when i click any option menu at finder the submenus doesnt highlight on mouseover, so i cant access any submenu because when i click a non highlighted one it just quit from the menu. I have a similar problem with the Dock aswell, when i put the cursor over the dock it doesnt do anything, it doesnt magnify as it should. all the settings are fine. i've repaired the premissions, didnt solve the problem. i've installed the AppleHDA.kext from the installation DVD, and the finder and dock worked normally for like one minute, and than it broke again. I really dont want to reinstall the whole OS X, so please, anyone, any ideas how to fix this? The menu highlights does work when i use the keyboard cursors, but that isnt fine with me... the whole finder (opening windows etc.) is working slowly than it did before the audio fix.. anyone please help Sorry if this isnt the right forum to post this, but i'm pretty much desperate since i dont want to reinstall the whole system.. PS: i've read at taruga's post that some kernels crash and if so i need to upgrade it, so is this a kernel crash? if yes, where can i find a kernel update? i have vanilla 9.1.0 kernel installed.

I got mine X3100 working with laptops display. before i did i had all the problems most of you has, blue, black, white with a black bar display, display turned off etc. i've tryed netit.kext, apple's leopard graphics update and so on, nothing worked - only external display. now it works: Intel GMA X3100: Chipset Model: GMA X3100 Type: Display Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 144 MB Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x2a02 Revision ID: 0x0003 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 800 Depth: 32-bit Color Built-In: Yes Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported i've made a clean OSX 10.5.1 install (kalyway) i downloaded gmax3100.pkg from here: http://x86osx.com/bbs/data/osxtips/gmax3100.pkg.zip installed it, set the display sleep in system preferences to 1 min. rebooted with external display unpluged, waited 1 minute till the display sleeps, woke it up and i was looking at my leo desktop. i've installek kalyway's 10.5.2 update, rebooted again to check if it still works, and yes it did. so i guess it's solved for me, hope it helps someone my laptop is Acer Extensa 5220 (1.7GHz, 1GB RAM)

    booting problem (vista+osx)

i wish to install the darwin bootloader, but how do i do it? i know this is probably a stupid question, but i can't figure it out... typing Darwin at -s doesnt work (as i read it would in some topic here) any help?
  10. hi, i was searching the forum and wiki for a solution but i didnt find one that siuts me. i have an acer extensa 5220 (supported) i had vista basic installed and ubuntu 8, i was using the vista bootloader, everything was working fine. i've deleted the ubuntu partition and installed osx (kalyway 10.5.1) the instalation went smoothly (except of the fact that my native display isnt working and i have to use external one [GMA X3100 card] ) osx booted up, runs smoothly, wifi out of the box. i updated it to 10.5.2 smoothly my problem is: OSX boots up only with the kalyway DVD in the drive. when i try to make the Vista partition the active one, so that i can boot into vista, nothing happens. black screen, no booting up. and my question is: how can i make the OSX to boot without the DVD? how can i boot into vista again? (i' trying out the leopard graphics update to see if it will get my native display working, if not i guess i'll post later) i know how to setup the bootloader in vista, but when i cant to boot into vista in the first place i'm clueless. anyone can hep me out?
