  1. Hey all I have a Hackintosh that has been working with no issues for about a year. I recently got a kernel panic, I recall Spotlight saying it was indexing my hard drive. Then when I rebooted I got stuck on the grey apple screen. I rebooted into verbose mode and here is the video: Please watch in HD so you can see the text http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTQ9XbyH8dU I am not sure what to do. I installed another hard drive and installed Snow Leopard on it and I could access all the files. I used Disk Master and Disk Utility on the hard drive and nothing worked. I cannot get the thing to work. I am not sure what to do. Below is my configuration for the tower Cool Master ATX Tower /2.66 Ghz Core i7 920 ( Not over clocked, OEM Cooler) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R/ 650 WATT PSU 8GB DDR3 RAM 1333/SATA 500 GB Snow Leopard Drive 10.6.2 (64 Bit Kernel)( Dual Booting via Chameleon) SATA 250GB Windows 7 64 Bit Home Edition Premium Drive / SATA 1TB Time Machine /IDE DVD Writer & Burner 22X/SATA BluRay Burner 8X PNY NVidia GeForce 9800GT 1GB Ram DDR3 (Got Dual displays working and HDMI output)/ 22" inch Westinghouse Monitor DVI *Working as Vanilla as possible. Updated to 10.6.4 and only has to reinstall Audio Kext .
  2. I used empire efi and just added the audio file. Internet kext and that was all I did not use a distro. Empire efi allowed me to install snow leopard easily with monimal tweeks. So I got a 9000 rightt after somties it will go down to an 8400 or to a 9400 schore. Looking to over clock to get 11000 so it can be competitive against a real mac pro
  3. 10.6.3 Upgrade and now USB transfers are slower

Stuck with the Slow USB after 10.6.3 any one?
  4. Hey all I am using the onboard ethernet adapter on my UD3-r Gigabyte board. If i am doing one web application at a time like surfing the web it is fast. If I am downloading a torrent it will be ok. If i am downloading a torrent and surfing he web. the surfing gets really slow. Or if I am doing a softwareup date while surfing it gets slow. Even if the torrent I am dowloading is like at 1kb it will slow down the entire connections. I am using Tranmission to download torrents and i do not think that the program is the issue. I am on Road Runner and it works great on my windows box. Please see Signature for all my specs. Thanks!
  5. 10.6.3 Upgrade and now USB transfers are slower

Hey still no fix. This only happened after the 10.6.3 update. Anyone had any sucess?
  6. See the sig for the card it is a pny 9800gtx nvidia 1gb ram ddr3 used an efi string to get work. It is very good.
  7. Snow Leopard won't show my extra IDE HDD

  8. Virtual Clustering works by launching multiple copies of the Compressor encoder, each of which needs access to the source media that you are compressing. This is fine if you are compressing from a source movie clip, as they can just open the file multiple times. But when you export from Final Cut Pro, FCP can only communicate with one copy of the encoder - it cannot launch multiple copies of itself. Consequently, you cannot export to a virtual cluster from the Send to Compressor command. A common misconception is that exporting to a QuickTime movie is slower. This is wrong - it is actually faster for two reasons - 1) it is faster to read the file directly than to request each frame from FCP and 2) you have access to virtual clustering. If your timeline is completely or partially rendered, deselect Make Self-Contained and the QuickTime export will be quicker. Another issue is that you are using up all of your virtual cores, leaving nothing left over for the operating system. There are varying schools of thought on how many to choose, ranging from the total number of cores minus one to half the number of cores (the latter being Apple's official suggestion). Also remember that each instance requires at least 1 GB of RAM, and remember to leave some extra for the OS and running applications.

  11. Hello all I have Final Cut Studio 3. I am using the latest Final Cut and the latest compressor. I have a Core i7 so i am trying to use all 8 virtual threads or at least four. However when I use the "This Computer" option in compressor it is not an issue. It will compress fine. However, when i use the virtual cluster i set up with QMaster i get the dreaded "Final Cut Pro generated an error or unexpectedly" and it fails. I am unsure what to do. Here are the circumstances: When I to compressor from FCP and use "this computer" it is no problem. When I send to compressor from FCP and try to use your personalized cluster (taking advantage of those expensive cores!) it won't work. it fails and give me the aforementioned error. PS I know that I can make the file quick time self contained movie fm final cut and send it to compressor, but this program should work on it own without doing that. I have enclosed a video which can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYfvPvKI1Uk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyKsw8ii5Ig
  12. Hey all my little brother just lent me the HP Deluxe Webcam KQ246AA. IT was giving me an issues with Photo booth for recording as the audio was not working, but it suddenly started. Works on photo booth video recording with built in mic for audio, takes pics, looks pretty good also. no issues or drivers, plug and play. just though i would share. works with the config in my sig (that rhymed)
  13. Fire wire is great.i I use my rig for final cut. No problem
  14. As stated before I installed Snow Leopard on My Gigabyte GA-EX58-ud3r with this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=200183 So basically I got the Error about rebuilding the Catalog. Which is a hard drive issue. However My Chamelon was loading fine so figured my drive was not fried. Here is what I did. I took a spare SATA hard drive and installed Snow Leopard on it with the EMPIRE EFI disk Using that partition I used Disk Warrior 4.2 909 on the new Snow Leopard volume. I used it to repair my oringal disk, it fixed it and rebuilt the Catalog and b-tree. However, since Disk Warrior is not meant for Hackintoshes it Erases my boot loader. When I rebooted the PC it gave me the Boot error:0 . So I popped in the Empire EFI disk and loaded the Repaired Volume from there which loaded fine and preserved all my filed and Applications. I then used the mYhack installed to install Chamelon. I rebooted the PC and everything worked fine. On a scale of 1-10 my OSX knowledge is about a 4. But with my limited knowledge this is what I was able to do
