  1. An update, deviato has been helping me via PM, and he recommended this version of the Chameleon PKG: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1750792 This version has the resolution module, which installed OK (in /Extra/modules/), but the mode is still not working. At boot time when I type ?video the modes shown are all 4:3 modes, up to 1600x1200. No sign of 1920x1080
  2. I have a Gigabyte GA-G41MT-D3V motherboard, and right now I'm running iPC Leopard 10.5.6 (I have to use Leopard-only software so I can't upgrade). Hope this helps!
  3. I've been told that Chameleon RC5 can give me 1920x1080 resolution with my GMA X4500 chipset, however I have yet to get it working. I've installed the May 18 2011 package, and used Lizard to generate the following com.apple.boot.plist and org.chameleon.boot.plist (in the Extra folder) file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1080x32</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> </dict> </plist> But it's still not working. Any help would be really appreciated.
  4. GMA X4500

Followed your instructions to the letter, but it's still booting up in 1280x1024. Are there any log files I can look at or post here to get to the bottom of the problem?
  5. GMA X4500

I'm looking for a solution to get 1920x1080 on the X4500 on Leopard. I've tried a lot of the suggestions in this thread but not found anything that works. Has anyone managed this? I can live without Quartz Extreme etc. I just want native resolution.
  6. Hi All, For the past 2 days I've been struggling to get native resolution with my Gigabyte G41MT-D3V motherboard which has onboard Intel GMA X4500 graphics. I've tried the following techniques to get this working: * No modifications: Graphics Mode in the apple.boot.plist file, which maxed out at 1280x1024. * GMAX4500.pkg from this post. * Chameleon RC4, and various patched versions of Chameleon. I've still not gotten anywhere. I'm using iPC 10.5.6 (since I have software that is Leopard-only) and I would really like to get native resolution working. Any advice is appreciated.
  7. Glad I could help! Don't install them manually, use the install kexts function in OSX86 tools and you can hold shift and select all 4 and install them in one go. Works much better!
  8. Fixed it myself. I installed the 4 kexts at the top of this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117029 Thanks Slice!
  9. Cannot play DRM on Hackintosh

Have you tried using OSX86 tools to mess with the "About this Mac" info?
  10. Hi All, I recently tried updating my iPC 10.5.6 install up to 10.5.8. It failed, however after restoring my extensions folder the system started up just fine. One problem however was now apparent, USB Drives weren't appearing anywhere other than tucked away in the system profiler. I read that this can be caused by a difference between System.kext and the kernal version, so I installed the Voodoo XNU 9.6.0 kernel to bring it back to being the same as System.kext, however the problem remains. Does anyone know a fix? Thanks!
  11. Hi, I had iPC 10.5.6 installed and working on my computer, however I tried upgrading it (followed a guide; I can't remember where from now) and now my install is broken (gets stuck waiting for root device). I have Windows installed on the same machine and I can access the mac partition from here to alter things. Anyway, I tried to reinstall iPC over the top of the previous install, however it fails every time. I even burned another copy to see if it was a faulty disc, however it still fails at the same point, around 30%. I have tried repairing the permissions and the disk to no avail, so I'm assuming the problem is something already on there from the previous install. Is there a way to remove certain things to allow the installer to run fine? Thanks!
  12. Did you manage to recreate the same problem I was having? Thanks for the reply by the way, I was beginning to feel like I would be stuck with this issue!
  13. Intel GMA 3100 Driver

Hi I have a Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R motherboard, and while pretty much everything is working, I am forced to have my Geforce 8800GT installed in it when I very rarely use my computer for anything graphically intensive. I have also had problems with my 8800GT interfering with my Digidesign MBox's USB connection, as when I use the NVInject driver, it cuts out every few seconds when using Pro Tools. So yes, is there a way of getting the GMA 3100 (NOT X3100) working in OSX86? I've got the resolution bumped up with boot options but not having QE is frustrating. Thanks in advance
  14. Alright I've got a bit closer to solving this strange issue. Firstly, I can 100% confirm it is not a hardware issue, as my Mbox works perfectly when connected to an actual Mac. After searching the forum, I came across this post. It seems that similar problems can occur with other USB soundcards, not just MBox's. The post was crucial because it suggested that accelerated video was the cause. I then installed QuartzSimple, and enabled Quartz 2D Extreme. This completely fixes the problem to an extent... while playback works flawlessly, any attempts to scroll the window whilst the song is playing seem to require too much CPU and once again cause the error to occur. I went a step further and trashed all the NV* kexts (I have an 8800GT 512MB). Upon reboot I was in software mode, but Pro Tools worked flawlessly, with scrolling and no dropouts. I then tried to install NVKush, but that didn't work. I then used EFI studio, which didn't work either, until I used the NVinstaller. But now some of the kexts have returned: NVDANV10Hal.kext NVDANV20Hal.kext NVDANV30Hal.kext NVDANV40Hal.kext NVDANV50Hal.kext NVDAResman.kext I believe that these, somehow, are the cause of the USB sound issue, as although I now again have acceleration, Pro Tools has exactly the same problem. If anyone knows an alternative way to get 8800GT hardware acceleration without these kexts, please reply!
  15. Recently, my hacmac has started having problems with Pro Tools 8 and my Mbox 1, in that it frequently cuts out with the error -9156. I'm unsure what exactly is causing the problem, but I don't have this issue with Pro Tools on windows (however I much prefer creative work within the Mac environment). I have all the the settings maxed out for buffersize. My first assumption was a USB issue, but I'm not certain exactly. Anyone had a similar problem? Or any suggestions? The problem occurs if the project is loaded from an internal harddrive or external usb drive. It just seems crazy to have these sorts of problems on a quad core system. Here's a video of the issue at hand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD5qivYgMLY As a composer, this problem is extremely frustrating! I hope someone can help me!
