Gigabyte T1028M As a Netbook Tablet Mac?

Hey there! I'm happy to hear there's someone else out there trying to get OS X to work on the T1028. Maybe you'll discover some things to fix the issues people have with it! Anyways, I tried all of what you tried, and I was pretty dissatisfied with nothing mounting and not being able to install. After some collaboration with robertadam, I found out that the Leo4All v4 you need is actually not the Intel one. Looking at various popular sources for questionable OS X disk images, you may find a Leo4All v4 that is marked "AMD ONLY." This is the right one. It will work! I can verify that it works to install, and the computer is alright to use, with my gripes as obvious exceptions. Until someone can figure out ethernet, webcam, sleep, microphone and screen rotation, I am going to switch to Ubuntu or Kubuntu Linux. I need a functional machine for college, but I will surely switch back if these issues are solved. I hope this helps! Feel free to respond if you have any further questions!

Gigabyte T1028M As a Netbook Tablet Mac?

BUMP I am still having several problems: - Ethernet doesn't work, however someone earlier said they have it working. Can I get a kext or a howto on this? - Sleep is broken. The computer looks like it's sleeping, but trying to restore from this leads to the computer turning on, but nothing displayed on the screen or anything like that. Any ideas on things to try for this? This is a big deal for me... - Screen rotation. Is there anything I can do in the kext to trick the OS into rotating the screen? Thanks again!

    Intel GMA 900 Rotation Forcing?

Hi all, I have a Gigabyte netbook. Many things work, however I would really really like to flip the screen around so I can use it in a book-style tablet mode. Does anyone know of a way to alter the .kext or something to allow me to rotate the screen? Holding down modifiers while clicking on "Displays" doesn't do anything. I really need some help on this one! Google turns up nothing. Thanks!

Gigabyte T1028M As a Netbook Tablet Mac?

This might be related to my issue, but with iAtkos, I get "EHCI Controller unable to take control from BIOS"? I really need some help, maybe it's because we're using different versions of Leo4All?

Gigabyte T1028M As a Netbook Tablet Mac?

This is really frustrating, heh. I just updated to the new BIOS (F04) and it's in "IDE Combined" mode, I can't switch out of it. In both Legacy and Native mode, with the -v -x flags, I get "Still waiting for root device." Are there any other modes or settings or flags you used? I switched to my SSD that I bought, a SATA one. Could this be the cause of the issue?

How are you in Native IDE mode? My Advanced tab looks like this: HDC Configure as [sATA Only] ATA/IDE Mode [Native] >Channel 1 Master [FUJITSU MHZ2160BH G2] I can't change HDC Configure to anything except for SATA, as I'd love to try IDE. Any ideas?

Gigabyte T1028M As a Netbook Tablet Mac?

I'm downloading the F04 BIOS now, but the only changes (as per Gigabyte's site) seem to be "Support Multi KB language" so I don't know how much that will help? What version are you running robertadam? Also, when you told me to switch between legacy/native, which one is yours set to? I am confused about which setting I should use. I am getting another USB CD/DVD drive today, and I found a newer Leo4All (it calls itself "version 5") that I'm downloading to hopefully get it to work. I was unable to find the version you mentioned. With Legacy AND Native I get "Still waiting for root device" so I am very confused now. Thanks for all your help!

Ugh, on Leo4All version 3, I'm stuck on "Still waiting for root device." Any tips for BIOS stuff? I'm using an IOMEGA CD/DVD drive, who knows...

Gigabyte T1028M As a Netbook Tablet Mac?

Awesome, thanks for the update! I'm assuming the update from 10.5.X to 10.5.7 on Leo4All is pretty idiot-proof hopefully? I am currently in the process of... obtaining it, but that's a pretty slow process unfortunately. Hopefully it'll be done shortly so I can attempt to install it! I would try Boot-132, but alas, I lent my Leopard Family Pack disk out to a friend, and that was the last I saw of it . I will try and contact someone, I hope the process would be as simple with Boot-132? As far as ACPI goes, does it sleep? If I replace the HDD with an SSD, will it still sleep? I bought an SSD for this computer, and I'd really like to use it. What's the install footprint of OS X? Do the speakers, headphone jack, mic jack and microphone all work? All the fn keys? VGA out? Does the SDHC slot work? Bluetooth? Multitouch on the trackpad (two and three fingers?) If I switch out the WiFi with an Airport card from a MacBook or a Dell card, will the toggle still work? The hardware toggle, I mean. Does numloc work? Do all the USB ports work? What does the "lock" switch do? How about the "Smart Panel" button? Is there any way to interpret that with USB Overdrive or something? Does ExpressCard work? Sorry for all the questions! I just want to make sure that everything will work. I think I may take you up on that kext offer, expect a possible PM from me shortly . Thanks again guys!

Wow, I'm surprised all this progress has been made! Any way to do Boot-132 for this, or is Leo4All still the best option? What kind of battery do people get? Anyone rocking 10.5.7? Camera working? If anyone can let me know all the kexts I'd need, I'm assuming WiFi is probably a crapshoot... Thanks again!
  11. Hi all, I've managed to get OS X on my Gigabyte T1028M . Here are the steps I used: - Removed internal HDD, and connected it to Mac Pro - Booted off MSIWindOSX on Mac Pro, and installed to the HDD without selecting options (all the patches seemed to be selected appropriately) - Removed the Gigabyte's HDD and stuck it back in the Gigabyte - Booted verbose, safemode and with a graphics mode of 1024x600 @ 60Hz Now, I'm at the "Welcome" screen where I select a language. The trackpad doesn't work. The tablet doesn't work. The keyboard doesn't work. A USB Mighty Mouse in any three of the USB ports doesn't move the cursor at all. What can I do? How do I get this to work?
  12. Hey all, I received a Gigabyte Touchnote T1028M tablet netbook yesterday, and I've been trying to even get into the OS X installer for the computer. Here was what I did: - Upgraded the RAM in the computer to 2GB (BIOS recognized it) - Switched out the internal HDD with a 32GB SSD - Burned MSIWindOSX to a DVD with my MacBook Pro (I have purchased the family pack, and therefore have several unused licenses) - Put it in my external CD/DVD drive, and booted the Gigabyte off that disk. - I entered the boot options mode, put in "-v" for verbose boot, and hit enter. - The installer seemed to load two or three files, but then kept giving an EBIOS error, more specifically "drive not ready" - I let it sit and think about itself, and it would get farther along, but always go back to the EBIOS error. It then seemed to restart the copying process every time this error popped up, so I never got into the installer. At this point, I decided to try and use my Transcend USB Key: - I put the USB key in my Mac, repartitioned it as 1 Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) with MBR. - I used Disk Utility to "Restore" it to the mounted MSIWindOSX.iso disk. - I put it in the Gigabyte, and started up from it. - The Gigabyte gave the error "Please insert a bootable disk and press any key." After several presses of keys, it seemed like this was not going to work - I used OSX86Tools to install Chameleon EFI on the USB, then tried booting from it. Same error. - I then used OSX86Tools AGAIN to install the EFI v8. Same error. I am now totally confused as to how to get this to work. I am open to solutions involving the CD/DVD drive or the USB key. Any advice?

Thanks for the response! I have several more questions for anyone who can comment: 1) Will MSIWindOSX allow me to do Software Update? I want to be able to get the latest and greatest OS. 2) How do I know if the onboard wifi will work? Is "Atheros" good or bad? If it doesn't work, can I take an old MacBook and gut its Airport card? Will this include a bluetooth module on that PCIe card? 3) What are the good SSD manufacturers for drives that can actually sleep?
  15. Hey all, I am pretty much hooked on getting the Gigabyte Touchnote T1028M tablet netbook. It's got everything I need, and it's pretty darn affordable. However, I'm very comfortable with OS X, and I was wondering how possible it would be to get a Hackintosh running on this machine? I cannot get anyone full specs at the moment, but I do have this page from UMPCPortal; http://www.umpcportal.com/products/Gigabyt...8M%20TouchNote/ This is the M912 thread from this very forum: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...mp;#entry934881 If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, please don't hesitate to post them! As far as OS X on an Atom goes, are people's experiences generally positive? I'm going to be running XCode and Terminal on this machine a lot, doing development work, as well as tablet interface testing. Do Atoms boot fast? Will this netbook sleep well (maybe depends on the device)? How about purchasing a solid state disk: can anyone recommend me a good manufacturer/model that works well with OS X? And for installation methods, what seems to work best for this type of solution? I have a Leopard disk, so I guess I could try Boot-132, but I also have the MSIWindOSX image. Which would work better? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks in advance!
