1. Well I have my system running fine with an Evga 780i, C2Q9450, Single ata drive(Slave), 5GB Ram, GTX470, DVD RW Drive, on board ethernet and sound all working with 10.6.8. I used tonymacs guide using ##### with 10.6.3 install. When installed run ##### and check #####(non DSDT). I also installed a kext AppleNforceATA.kext(see kexts.com). I needed VooDooHDA for sound. To get the Ethernet working load nForceLan.kext(or the nforcelan.pkg). I then immediately ran the 10.6.8 combo update without issue and before re-boot install the latest Nvidia drivers and add the efi string for my GTX470 to the boot plist. You may have to run ##### and re tick ##### and usb rollback(if usb not working). BTW the AppleNforceATA kext I'm using is the one from Domenico 'MeDevil' Colella. 2007, x64 rebuild by WIND.
2. Data sent. I noticed in a reply here you said that the id's were inverted, does this mean the device id was where the vendor id should be and vica versa. The reason I ask is I am trying to add my device id+vendor id to the info.plist in VooDooHDA.kext. For my audio codec(MCP55 HD Multimedia Cntrller) it's: VenID_10de, Dev_ID_0371 which makes my entry 037110de which looks nothing like the example shown in the thread to do this, oldnapalm's entry starts 0x and is 0x3b568086.
3. Have you tried installing ##### from #####. It was this that fixed that same error msg for me although our hardware specs are different.
4. I have my OS X(tomymacx86 mac pro 3.1/#####) installed on a single 40GB IDE HD. When I boot into my OS X it can see my 250GB Vista HD. I partitioned(Shrunk) the 250GB HD and now have a 40GB unallocated partition. From Vista the only option I have it is to create a simple volume which I have not done yet. When I boot into OS X it still sees the 250GB HD as just that(250GB). I booted into a Ubuntu live disk to see what it could see. Using Gparted Partition Editor on the Ubuntu disk I could see the unallocated partition, however the options to create a HFS or HFS+ partition were greyed out. The options available to me were Btrfs, Ext2/3/4, Fat16/32, NTFS, UFS, XFS and Linux-Swap. I want to use this partition to backup my existing OS X install before I attempt the 10.6.8 update as I really do not want to loose all the time and effort that got me to where I am today, my OS X install is running really well with everything working and a fair few app's installed. If if were not for the upcoming Lion I may not even bother with 10.6.8, but then again? Anyway I would appericate some guidence as to what I have to do next to use the 40GB unallocated partition as a backup disk for my OS X install. EDIT: I took a chance and tried it myself. Because Vista would only let me set up an NTFS Volume(original disk is NTFS) I booted with the Ubuntu disk and created a FAT32 partition using the unallocated disk space. When I booted into OS X it then saw the seperate 40GB partition. I was then able to use Time Machine to erase the partition and set it up for use by Time Machine and now have my system backed up. Now for 10.6.8.
5. I get the KP "Out of 32kb Range" with these kexts listed: IOATABlockStorage(Being a plugin of IOATAFamily) IOATAFamily IOStorageFamily IOPCIFRamily If I install this kext do I need to delete the kexts listed above first or just go ahead and install it as is. I am running OS X(MacPro 3.1 - #####.tonymacx86.com - 10.6.7 - Kernel 10.7) eVga 780i Intel C2Q Q9450 40GB Seagate IDE Drive(not partitioned - stand alone disk for OS X) BenQ 1655 IDE DVD Burner 6GB BallistiX Gigabyte Ethernet(Marvell 88E116) On Brd Sound Logiteck USB Keybrd Rocatt Kone USB Mouse

nForce LAN driver

I have a 780i(Evga) and found with these boards my Internet connection never remained stable for long. For Internet stability I was better off using a wireless usb adapter which works just fine and typically there are mac drivers available from realtek and others. You can pick them up very cheaply. Have a look here: USB WiFi Dongles: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4959
7. Have you tried booting with -f -v. If you still have no luck have a look at this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=258952
8. I have OSX 10.6.7 running on an Evga 780i, well kinda. My big issue is booting from the HD and Internet access. The curious thing if I use nawcom modcd to install/run my LAN is totally stable but I can't boot from the HD. If I use ##### to install/run I can thereafter boot from the HD but I have no Internet and trying to get my Network working causes system crashes. So is there a way I can identify what files my Network is using when booting from modcd and then copy/use/install these when using #####.
9. Thanks Verdant for the good advice. At the moment my 8800GTS is running at 1024x768 so it's really just stock setting. However I will post update when I get it all working and actually know what I'm talking about , at the moment I still have a lot of research to do to figure out how to proceed.
10. Hi guys, I installed(the bare system) Kalaway 10.5.2 using: Evga nforce 780i mobo BenQ IDE DW1655 DVD +/- RW 40 GB IDE Seagate Hard Drive Q9450 CPU Evga 8800 GTS 640MB Microsoft USB Intellimouse Ex Logitech USB Keyboard Now because I only installed the bare system would it be ok to update to 10.5.5 and then try and get my Internet, bluetooth, sound chip ect to work or should I get those things working now and then do the update? BTW Mysticus C I sent you a pm requesting the link for patches but I am not sure the pm actually got sent as I have nothing in my sent box, however I don't want to inundate you with pm's so if you did not recieve it let me know, please.
