1. I lost sound after 10.7.1 too. I used ##### to restore the original sound kexts, and then re-install the non-dsdt kexts for ALC998a (ep45t-ds3r)
2. Answering to myself, I hadn't placed the dsdt.aml in the correct folder. After I did that, setup booted fine, and installation went by smoothly. Audio wasn't working (ALC889a), so I used ##### to restore the original audio kexts and then (via ##### again) I installed the non-DSDT kexts, which just work. Everything else seems to be in order. Thank you tseug. You can't tell with certainty, but I'd guess that most probably no. Upgrades tend to break the installation or create issues with sound/graphics etc. Lots of things have changed with osx86 since 10.5.x. I'd go with a fresh install. Even if you can get it to work, you'll spend a lot of time fixing stuff. tseug's method is a piece of cake to follow and works like a charm.
3. I think you need 10.6.6 in order to upgrade
4. Intel Q9550 EP45T-DS3R 4x2GB Corsair XMS 1333 Powercolor ATI HD4870 1gb I am booting from the USB device. My graphics card is reported as working in that thread. I have included a tailor-made DSDT of my motherboard. Script ran ok. I rebooted from the usb, all the kexts were loaded and I get to the installation screen with the brushed metal background, and that's about it. It gets stuck there and there's no activity on the usb. I can only see the background.

I got myself a brand new dell 1390 for £9 including shipping through ebay. In OSX it worked just right out of the box, in Windows I had to download drivers. I followed a link (5-10 pages back) which took me to microsoft's website, where i searched for "dell 1390" and downloaded the driver it found for me, and it worked. I wouldn't bother opening the Powerbook if I could get a card for less than £15 if I was you

try booting with -f, that did it for me.

that's strange...at least your posts weren't deleted!

I tested it and couldn't find any satisfying settings so I reverted to my old settings. Either scroll will get in the way of normal mouse operation, or won't be responsive. Oh and don't do this without a usb mouse, I had to use mine. If the trackpad doesn't work after install try to boot with -f. Hopefully Mysticus knows how to get more out of it.
9. Working on NC10, confirmed. No modifications necessary, same issue as niteman (mac add). Thank you adamsalac!

I agree that there's no excuse for not searching first. I've searched for this for a while and haven't found anything (besides setting the time zone to tokyo which doesnt make any difference). My new 1390 doesn't see channel 12-13 networks, even though all my regional settings are set to UK. Channels 12-13 work in XP so it's not 1390's limitation.

agreed. from the moment someone seeks help impolitely he deserves what he gets. being sarcastic doesn't hurt anyone...getting mad and being hostile to the member that will just create an account to ask a question and never appear again is unnecessary and a waste of your energy. my two cents. enough off topic chitchat, apologies for causing it. to be on topic, I received my 1390 today. Installed it, not tried it except for installing drivers and see if it can see networks - and it can, both in xp and osx Installation was a piece of cake, the only problem was to unclip the nc10's case after the screws were removed - took me a while. Got it for £8.98 including p&p off ebay, brand new and unopened. I've been tinkering with kismac and kexts to make the Atheros card work for about a week and I've failed miserably. It randomly works whenever it wants, even sometimes disappearing from the XP device manager altogether(!). I think its well worth its money and little trouble (I need to check if everything works fine before I can definitely say it's worth it!). Only multitouch left for me to feel complete

Being aggressive doesn't help. Also, "slapping" users that ask for info instead for searching, doesn't make any difference, there's no "collective noob user" that will learn with negative reinforcement. Just kindly redirect them, it's not that difficult.

Are any usb-wifi dongles compatible? If so, is the compatibility dependent upon its chip? Oh, and how do I turn off bluetooth? I went in preferences and the checkbox for turning it off is grayed out. Mysticus, again thank you, the installation was succesfull...So if anyone has a similar problem, playing around with the MBR should solve it. I don't know how much help I would be but if there is anything I could do to contribute to any osx86 projects I'm more than willing to.

Mysticus, indeed there was a problem with the MBR. I downloaded MBRwizard and did a /repair which messed things up, and I fixed it by doing /active my c: partition. I can't recall if I did anything else because I was messing about, but after that procedure, I managed to boot into the installation.

Thanks mysticus. I will try play around with the MBR or reformatting the whole thing and I'll let you know.
