  1. Hi, I've been setting up a leopard/win7 dual boot system. Recently I got things working decently well, with osx and win7 both installed, when I messed up some of my kexts and needed to do a full reinstall. To my absolute chagrin, for some reason now whenever I try to start up the osx installer from the DVD, the installer reboots the system, only to try to run the installer again, and reboot, etc. It's pretty awful. This isn't a root device not found thing, its the DVD installer rebooting the system over and over for god knows why. I reformatted my entire hard drive to see if the DVD was looking at current installations, but even that didn't help. I'm really at a loss here, and if someone could point me to how I could get things working as before, that would be nice. I'm running a p5q pro mobo with a modified dsdt bios.

A Simple Guide to the 4830/4850/4870/4870x2/4890

My problems with kernel panics on shutdown were resolved by installing netkas' new universal injector - but there were some strange side effects in the form of changes to my bios. My vista installation now thinks I have a floppy drive, for some reason.

Should I uninstall certain older kexts or do some other sort of procedure before trying this installer?

Like some others in this thread, I am getting a kernel panic on shutdown/restart/sleep in ATY_Motmot. Has anyone figured out what the dealio is with this? I'm running a 4850 on a P5Q motherboard. Edit: I am also running an iPC 10.5.6 install.
  5. I'm trying to install iPC 10.5.6 on my P5Q PRO mobo with a SATA HDD. There are two partitions, with Vista installed on the first, and the second partition (which I am aiming to install OSX on) is formatted with FAT32. I've tried setting the second one to active, I've tried setting the SATA mode to AHCI, but no matter what, Disk Utility refuses to mount or reformat the second partition. In fact, both partitions show up as grey in DU. What do I have to do to get this partition to mount? P.S. I've tried using GParted but the CD just gets stuck on a black screen after choosing the startup options.

    OSX86 on Intel P45 chipset?

Hi there, I just recently installed a Leo4All v2 distro on my p5q (latest official unmodded BIOS). Everything appears to be working fine, but I can only boot with the setting cpus = 1. I assume this has something to do with ACPI settings, but I haven't been able to pin down the information? Any pointers guys? edit: further investigation seems to point at the lack of a modded BIOS? I don't think anyone has posted a modded version of the 1406 build for the p5q pro, so I think I will try to do it myself.
  7. Anyone at all know how to do the "restore iso to any hard drive" function in Windows? Most of the drive cloning tools I've found use some silly proprietary format.
  8. Bump, just copying over the files on an install dvd doesn't preserve boot sectors
  9. Long story short, I'm trying to install OSX on a ASUS P5Q PRO motherboard - but I only have an IDE DVD drive, and no IDE to SATA adapter. I do, however, have a standalone usb or firewire HDD in the form of an old iPod. Now, I know you can use diskUtility in OSX to mount an install DVD on a usb drive, but I can't figure out how to do it under windows. Anyone have any pointers?
