  1. 10.5.4 installed on HP D530 SFF

Hi there, Got it! I set the options as you said and it works...! Thanks for the help! I did manage to bugger it up by installing the PS2Fix patch, but I'll just do a new install and use a USB Mouse/KB from now on... Oh, and these settings also work for a Compaq Evo 510... Cheers, Mike.
  2. Hi, I installed JaS 10.5.4 on my Compaq Evo 510 (installed with a PS/2 keyboard and mouse connected). Then once OSX booted for the first time I had to attach a (borrowed!) USB keyboard and mouse. Then I got into OSX and all was fine. I downloaded and installed the PS2Fix1054 package and all went well. Then I rebooted and swapped the USB mouse/keboard for the old PS/2 ones, now when I restart I get to the grey screen with the Apple-logo and the 'spinning' counter-icon and that's it - doesn't boot any further than that. I've tried reconnecting the USB mouse and keyboard, but that doesn't help. I also tried using the -x boot option during the Darwin startup, with no luck. Is there any way I can remove PS2Fix and get back to a working OSX install? I'd had to have fubarred my system so quickly! Any comments or help greatly appreciated! Cheers, Mike.

  4. 10.5.4 installed on HP D530 SFF

Hi James, Well, I d/l JaS 10.5.4 and it all installed like a dream - not a single warning error message... But once I reboot (after the install) Darwin seems to crash (annoyingly!) at pretty much the same place as it did when trying to install leo4all 10.5.4... Since the install went fine (unlike leo4all, which as I said never got past teh first few lines when the DVD booted!) I'm guessing that I need to change/set some of the boot options... The same as yours? But I'm completely at a loss of how to do this. Where do I need to go to set the correct boot options for my HP D530? <edit> Oh dear, do I need to set certain options as part of the install process? I didn't do this as it seemed to install fine without any issues, it's just that now (once it's installed) it fails to boot - resets all the time... So do I need to reinstall Jas 10.5.4? Thanks for you time, it's really appreciated! Cheers, Mike.
  5. 10.5.4 installed on HP D530 SFF

Hi James(?), I've tried leo4allv3 on my HP D530 with no luck - get the constant reboot loop when the bootloader tries to load the kernel extensions... Was driving me batty! So you reckon the jas 10.5.4 distro is the way to go? Did you do a clean install on your D530 or did you upgrade from 10.4.8? I'm a newbie and thjis is my first attempt at OSx86! Cheers, Mike.
  6. additional info: It appears that it fails at the following step: "Loading HFS+ file : [system/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 422d690" It displays this line (twice), then the small rotating "/" appears for a few seconds, then the machine resets. I've also just tried the same DVD on an IBM Thinkpad R51 and it gets to the OSX installer GUI with only the odd warning message, so the DVD appears to be fine... It seems that this is a reasonably frequent error, but I've yet to find any suggestions or solutions. Are there any boot flags I can try? Cheers, Mike.
  7. Leo4all Vanilla dosen't work

Hi, As per my recent post, I have the same issue. Once it tried to load the drivers/kernel extentions, <pop> and reset... No idea what boot flags if any?) to try... Any comments and/or suggestions to help us all out would be great! Cheers, Mike.
  8. Hi, I've just burned the latest leo4allv3 (10.5.2) DVD image but am hitting problems pretty much as soon as I boot from the DVD. When the DVD boots, it getting to the step when it is loading "/SYSTEM/LIBRARY/EXTENSIONS" (about the 4th or 5th step) but then the PC just resets. I've also tried hitting F8, which gives me the "Boot:" prompt. When I try the "-v" boot flag, the info I'm seeing when it attempts to boot, is the same as when it boots without intervention. When I try typing "?" and hitting enter, I get single line along the top of the screen which says: "Timeout=8 Number of seconds to pause at the boot: prompt.ng" ... and nothing else - not really very helpful! :-) I've tried it on two machines (HP D530S and Compaq D510 - both of which have SSE2 CPUs) and it does the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks, Mike.
