  2. ok umm, maybe someone can ne so kind to point me in the right direction? Thanks as I am trying to get the performance I saw of someone on youtube and they had it overclocked to 4.3 or something crazy and it was blazing. Not sure what motherboard, number of cores, ec-cetera.I'm looking to spen at least enough to get a 8 core 2.93 or 8 core i7 performance overclocked. Thanks
  3. anyone to offer advice? Buy Apple? Build a machine, will it be just as fast? Thanks in advance
  4. I don't know where to begin. I do a lot of soft synths. Last years Mac Pro's 8 core are faster than the newer except on the memory front, then I saw a hack that was getting something like 549 with Xbench and a crazy number with Cinebench. So I ask, how much would I save if I wanted to get the equvilant of a Mac Pro 2.93 8 core from 2009 and then over clock it. Plus the last time I built, they didn't have any boot loaders that allowed for you to update your software. You had to boot to windows, get device info, put that into plist and kext files and just need advice on what to do. I have a little momey aside but I don't want to buy a mac pro that is beaten by last years and even some iMacs beat them (Quad) and you can always get a Texas Instruments Firewire HUB, its just that I use a lot of soft sythngs which take a lot of FPU, from Storm Drum to Orchestra. Any advice on builds or purchases appreciated and FWIW, APPLE IS OUT OF THE 2009 2.93 and those 8 cores go for almost 4 grand where a 2010 8 core is much less, so what does that tell you besides speed 2.4 compared to 2.9 is better and the hack I saw he had it up to 4.3 or something, 8 cores, so am looking for a hand holding session on how to build something like that, that will squash even the 12 cores if possible with 8 OC cores. Thanks and Peace. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas soon!!! Love your loved ones more each and every day and keep your fingers crossed we can get this prject off the ground while I stay with this one Music Publisher until I get an agent/deal. As I also Music Supervise and Compose. 3 Sample CD's sop far for Sony!!! Peace
  5. More Here with lots of pictures. Notice the heat sinks comments and how they generate a lot of heat! Surely nothing to concerning but this is basically server technology in a desktop. Makes you wonder if AMD designs may have a future sometime down the road.
  6. Apparently with a change of heart, and some technology to allow just one copy, it appears that the movie industry is prepared to ease up on copying laws. More here!
  7. We’ve ordered Mac Pros in a few different configurations and will test them as they arrive. The first machine to come in was the standard configuration—the $2,499 Dual-Core Mac Pro with two 2.66GHz Xeon processors, 1GB of Fully-Buffered DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a 16X SuperDrive with double-layer support, and an Nvidia GeForce 7300GT graphics card. This out-of-the-box Mac Pro configuration earned the highest Speedmark score ever recorded in our tests. Source - MacWorld.

  10. Alright all you boys and girls audio nuts. Motu has released the UB version of MOTU digital performer which can be found here: http://lasso.motu.com/downloads/filelist.l...ing&-search For all you naughty people that use the version found on the internet I am happy to report the updates works with serial. You just need to make sure that your CD (not DVD) copy of DP5 (non UB) is in, then use any name and # it gives you. Speed increase > 80% when demo project loaded vs non UB.
  11. According to Apple insider, Apple is planning on ramping up production of their laptops and release the MEROM processors sooner rather than later. More HERE: http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1939 On a side note, it looks as though Apple might be having some STOCK issues and may be rehashing its true profits...this could be a little snag or a HUGE snag depending on what the truth unveils... 14. It seems that the days of having to but a new laptop for example or the latest PCIe card if your machine is PCI only, may be a thing of the past. It seems that there are already machines out there ($17,000+) but render in huge GLOBS. Of course, the reality is that they (ATI/NVIDIA) are starting to focus on the end user and not just for laptops but for users that want MORE power without taking up TOWER space or slots. While slightly off topic to this blog, SONY and others are working on TV's for the INTERNET coming soon to a retail store near you in 07. As I type here, I get 1MB per sec download and the next gen is supposed to be 10MB per second. Anyway, read on for the external GPU devices that could make it to you home, laptop, desktop in the very near future. Paving the way for never fearing to have to upgrade entire systems. 15. Ever wonder how to connect the new power of the MacIntels with the PC? Why would you want to do that you may say? Well, you may be one of the many recent switchers that have invested thousands of dollars, euros, etc into Gigastudio, VST plug-ins, Soft Synths, etc. Now there is a way. I am still awaiting an official response, however this is one of the latest ways to connect the PC and MAC together. One scenario would be having Logic as the master and running VST plug-ins, and instruments from the PC also taking the load of the MAC. Read more here: http://www.musiclab.com/products/rpl_info.htm
