  1. Hey everyone. I did the osx86 thing for a while back in the snow leopard days, but I kinda stopped doing it when I built a new PC and didn't have the time to venture back into it. I haven't been keeping up to date with the latest stuff. I am wanting to buy a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet, and I would love to try to get OSX running on it. It has the newer Z3740D Intel Atom (bay trail) chip. http://www.dell.com/ca/p/dell-venue-8-pro/pd?oc=twv8p_ft_s001e&model_id=dell-venue-8-pro I have been searching the forums to see if anyone has had any success with this chip, but I don't see anything about the newer bay trail chips. There are a few tablets coming out currently with this chip. This tablet looks the most enticing to me (active digitizer stylus is a big bonus). Is it typically a big pain to get all the features (wifi, bluetooth, stylus, camera) working on these newer x86 tablets?
  2. i am using iPC 10.5.6, and i unstalled using the ALC 268 option in the customization of the installer (closest i could find to ALC 260). upon first boot, i had no sound on my speakers (in retrospect i should have checked the headphone jack, because the System Pref menu showed an Output device, and the system pretended like it had working sound, even itunes pretended to play) so i used AppleHDA patcher, with the ALC260 package i got here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...mp;#entry598675 now the system doesnt even have any audio options. how can i undo what i did with the AppleHDA patcher? (and any hints on getting my ALC260 to work?) thanks
  3. same problem for me. (both keyboard and mouse dont work, and im stuck at the "please connect keyboard") using iPC 10.5.6 on my Acer Aspire One i tried both USB keyboards i own, neither of them work. please someone help!
  4. im currently downloading the .dmg combo update file, from Apple's website. im wondering if im going to have trouble installing it like normal, or if theres a special OSx86 way to do this? ive been searching around, cant seem to find an answer.
  5. hey everyone. ive been dabbling with OSx86 for a while now, and havent had any success with any of my computers (all 3 are new AMDs). i know how to get it running on at least 1 of them, but it requires too much reconfiguring, creating unfavorable usability for my main purposes on that computer. i decided to put togather a new computer, and its going to be Intel this time (a first for me). can anyone recommend to me a build, that is 100% tailored for OSx86 compatability? even if anyone could give me a list of Mobo chipsets, Video cards, ect, that are all very compatible. near-100% video card functionality is a plus. would be nice to run things like WoW on it. but baby steps first. thanks in advance.
  6. newbie needs help, hanging at boot

bah, i only wanted to sample OSX. im not going to be dicking around with my hardware to do this. when OSx86ing has got to the point where installation is new-hardware-friendly, ill be back to {censored}-around kudos to those with the skill/patience/time/purpose to pull off (what seems to be for most) a week long install/troubleshooting process just to boot to the desktop for the first time maybe if i get the time later this week, ill try installing it on my Acer Aspire One subnotebook. ive read the install is seamless, except for lack of Wifi drivers.
  7. newbie needs help, hanging at boot

i suppose i should also mention that after that Firewire error, it says "Still waiting for root device" or something like that. that error comes up a moment after the Firewire error, and repeats multiple times. does this mean it doesnt like my HDD? im going to try installing it on an IDE drive later today when i get home from work.
  8. hey everyone, im new to the OSx86 thing (and OSX for that matter). installing Kalyway 10.5.2 on my computer (Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H mobo, with AMD SB700 southbridge chipset). installing it on its own 160gb SATA (seperate drive from my 250gb SATA with Vista on it). got through the install by enabling AHCI for the sata drives in the bios (osx install didnt even see my SATA drives without doing this). now im at the Apple boot screen, and its hanging on the spinning wheel. i did a -v boot, and the error its stuck on is: "ERROR: FireWire unable to determine security-mode; defaulting to full-secure" anyone know how i can get past this? im guessing i need to install the Firewire Kext? i have no idea how to do that. in Vista's Device Manager, my 1394 controller is called: "Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller" thanks in advance
